Summary: His and Her Circumstances
Review: This Anime is over all the best. Between all of the other anime, this one is the best. I watched Love Hina, Evangelion, Trigun, Fruit Basket, Slayers but this is still the best out of all the anime. Miyazawa Yukino is the funniest. She is a show off at school until she meets Arima. Arima is afraid of himself but wanted to know. Miyazawa helps him out and they eventually start to date. They meet other characters and have fun.

Review: Studio Gainex has a real talent, they take a familiar style of series, such as the typical mech series, and brings it to another level by bringing in adolescent doubt and depression, and focusing on character. The result was the most popular Anime series of all time, Neon Genesis Evangelion, the series that is most credited with the recent explosion of the Anime market in the United States.
Well Studio Gainex just released one of the best Anime's I have ever seen called His and Her Circumstances, a story about two seemingly perfect japanese students. I say seemingly perfect because both are flawed characters, which makes them two of the most human and well developed characters I have ever seen in an Anime show since well, Evangelion. Basically Gainex brings the relationship Genre to a new level with this series.
The element of the fantastic has been taken out of this one, sorry people no giant robots and christian mysticism here. This series is all about reality, and relationships. Which is very odd for the US, since this may be the first time such a series will get attention. However this series is much differant than other japanese relationship series, GAINEX's trademark of a mix a still shots is all over here, in addition GAINEX uses several style of animation, one in particular is very similiar to old peanuts animation, some cuts use a very old style of japanese animation, and others use a style of soviet era russian graphic design and animation. This series mixes these differant styles into a piece of art, plus good writing always helps, and Gainex has the best writer in japanese animation. I could go on, but the series is a japanese relationship series brought to a whole never level, and will probably bring alot of people who are not fans of the genre into the genre because it is not violent, has a unique style, great character development, and excellent writing. Like Evangellion, it must be watched to be appreciated.

Summary: The Best!
Review: This is one of my favorites! True, I have a lot of favorites but this definitely ranks up in the top 5 at least. Maybe I like it as much as I do because I feel like I can experience the different kinds of relationships that I don't experience in real life. That would be almost all of them. Anyway, the story is quite poignant and touching. The animation is wild. It goes from one side of the anime spectrum, to the other, and back again. A very fun show to watch. A must have for anyone who loves romance anime.

Summary: Flawed DVD of Great Series
Review: Having seen this series several years ago, I was looking forward to the DVDs from Rightstuf, however, the sheer number of technical problems I have had with the disc cause me to warn off others until Rightstuf acknowledges and fixes the problems. On many different players this disc freezes or the subtitles shut off, or don't display at all.

Review: His and Her Circumstances (Kare Kano) is one of the best anime I've ever seen. It makes me feel like I'm in high school again. This anime has a great story, a romance story that is. His and Her Circumstances is more like a drama/romance/comedy story. It'll make you cheer, make you sad, and it'll make you to root for the main characters and their relationship. After watching each episodes, this anime makes me feel [good!] I got to admit, this is a great anime and is considered one of my favorite animes of all time! Don't miss out this wonderful anime!

Review: First, everyone wondering what this anime is about should be warned that this isn't a series with any swords, robots, kung fu battles, blood, space chases or letcherous sexual intent. 'His and Her Circumstances' is a baroque and witty string of character developments in the lives of two very arduous high school students who find their first love, and themselves along with expanding friendships during a series of deftly placed personal experiences. Yukino and Sohichiro are competing students in first place for the minds and hearts of their fellow students along with placement as top grade earners in their 10th grade of Japanese school. Yukino is a girl who lives for praise and carries herself flawlessly through a pristine exterior at school which masks her rather homely and easy going attitude while at home with her mediocre middle class family. When Sohiciro appears as a successful contender to her position she ignites in a hidden fury determined to destroy the eaqually enigmatic boy. But when he confesses his love for her, her motives turn around as her younger sisters point out how fortuitous his presence is for her ego, and that she has a complex herself over this upstart. Slowly, the two fall in love and become close friends as they discover their own faults and fears. Although there are only 6 episodes I have seen so far from the first disk, it has made me want to watch the rest as soon as possible. For those familiar with the history and politics of anime in Japanese TV and Gainax, this is a text book series explaining the gaps between Evangelion and FLCL and how Gainax achieved such bizarre technique between 1996 and 2000. 'His and Hers' is full of odd expressions, crazed, stylized drawings and camera movement, and multitudes of captions and comic text streaming alongside and behind the animation. Evangelion's odd film style pokes through into the new world of animated manga ink pages with motivated drawings explaining the story. Thgere are plenty of raw, beautiful layout drawings by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto when the characters find themselves stunned by revelation or introspection. At the start of each episode pops up a caption saying 'Attention: Please watch anime in a well lit room and don't sit too close to the TV'- an obvious disclaimer to calm the Japanese public after the Pokemon shakes many children suffered around 1996-7. And the lack of violence goes in hand with the times when parental groups picketted the anime content on Japan's TV screens. Luckily, Gainax used this opportunity to bottle their emotions and release them in a different direction which is just as brilliant as their previous works, and dare I say BETTER then previous efforts. Pulling from their love of music, pop and classical, 'His and Hers' is layered in a rich bed of intersexual emotions, inward distress, cultural education and pure entertainment. The Japanese school system is revealed through the stories as well as the workings of the student psyche. I feel Hideaki and group took the names of the main two students from a sly Blur tune called 'Yuko and Hiro' about two driven Japanese who work so hard for themselves, industry and country that they never enjoy time together. Yukino and Sohiciro tend to fraternize but always are torn apart by the work they must suffer in order to be perfect. This anime comes with a fantastic set of dialogue subtitles, and dialogue plus caption subtitles expertly placed by The Right Stuf staff. They even have alternate angles for the opening text and teasers which can be either the Japanese actresses being cute, or American actresses TRYING to be as cute as the Japanese girls. The box for the set is rather cast off and secondary considering the amount of effort put into the translation and information put on tyhe DVD. A great entertainment at a decent price. If you like good story, and don't need sophmorish thrills then this is an excellent purchase.

Summary: Interesting serial marred by gimmicky animation
Review: I bought His and Her Circumstances partly based on reviews here and I am afraid I found it rather disappointing. First the good parts: the story,characters and Japanese voice acting are indeed well done as many reviewers have pointed out. The problem is that the animation is some of the laziest I have every seen in any animated serial Japanese or otherwise. In some of the episodes it would be a mistake to call it animation since most of what you have is a series of stills. Also the technique of changing the style every so often gets irritating because it's so overused. These kinds of tricks can be very useful if praticed in moderation but not if they go on for practically the whole episode. Obviously some people like this style and I have no problem with that but I suspect there are other people who would find it very off-putting like me and hence this review. The bottom line is that if you find "animation" through a series of stills off-putting, this anime may not be for you. This is all a pity because when the show sticks to conventional animation it is very good and if it had used the gimmicks sparingly and only for key moments, I would have recommended it heartily.

Summary: Most fantasticly romantic anime of all time!
Review: I'll make this short and sweet. His and Her Circumstances= the sweestest most amazingly romantic teen love I've ever seen in an anime! I thoroughly enjoyed the different style of animation (somewhat parralel to that of an animated manga) and the beautiful animation made it all the better. And surprisingly and most fortunately the dubbed voices were not that bad to listen to. I especially love the depth in which the characters personalities are expressed. It gives the viewer a feeling of all knowing when they know what the characters are thinking and feeling towards one another, even though the characters in the story might not know it. This anime has a nice mix of romance, humor, and your everyday japanese animation fun! I personally found this anime to be a heartpounding, gut wrenching, and an "oh my god kiss already!" series that has made me wait for the second volume in much anticipation. I highly recommend this series! Please, check it out! (not to mention that Asima is so sexy...I swear I was drooling the entire time)

Summary: Anyone can relate to this anime!
Review: I bought His and her Circumstances (H.H.C.)last week and this week I'm enjoying it right now. I cannot describe how wonderful it was. Its has very great stories and very down to earth, relatable anime. I think its excellent. Its like your normal everyday life but just in anime....thats the point that I like. Also very nice art work, great characters and very funny. This anime has it all....love, comedy, family, school....and most of all...a sense of self! I would recommend His and Her Circumstances to anyone. But its kinda odd that its not available outside in stores like Best Buy, Circuit City, or Wal-Mart, K-Mart....Well, its all good, all the time. Go check it out for yourself!

Summary: Touching and Comedic Look at High School Life
Review: Kareshi Kanojyo no Jijyou (the lengthy Japanese title) is one of the most truthful looks at high school and teenage life I have ever seen. The characters aren't perfect: they worry about grades, parents, relationships, and they're self-conscious. Studio Gainax (Evangelion, Nadia) adds a new drop to the shoujo formula, blending character developement and experimenting with different styles to present this genre. And surprise! It works wonderfully! Instead of providing just the female or male's perspective, they show both. Some episodes are devoted to one character, giving them a in-depth explanation as to why they act the way they do. An excellent example is Shibahime Tsubasa, a petite cutie pie of a girl with a bad attitude. The problems she has with her family present a clear look at her other side. As the episodes progress, you begin to notice how each person matures into something they wish to be, not putting up a facade and throwing away their mask. The message of this Japanese anime is clear: be yourself for your own true happiness. This is reinforced through beautifully-drawn manga stills, cut-up paper dolls, and super deformity. Gainax has succeeded yet again in creating a thoughtful anime enjoyable for everyone. Sadly, there will be no more episodes (26 was the last) due to conflicts with the manga author Tsuda Masami. However this classic is not to be missed.
