Summary: Evangelion Collection 0:8 Corrections
Review: Evangelion Returns in this climax. Episodes 24-26 chronicle the end of this controversial Anime series. Though the actual EVANGELION MOVIES, are NOT included on this DVD, due to "End Of Evangelion" and "Evangelion: Death & Rebirth" being licensed to Manga, and not ADV Films. This is a must buy for any fan of the series, and any fan of Anime in general. Keep an eye out in October for the movies on DVD from Manga. - Enygma077

Summary: The final one
Review: This DVD contains the last of the TV episodes, dont be fooled the last episodes on this DVD are not the end to the series. There were two Evangelion movies released in Japan and those 2 movies were the finale to EVA. There are people in the U.S. that think Evangelion [stinks] but that is because they have not seen the movies yet. The movies will be released around October this year by Manga so dont panic if you dont find the movies at the store, they arent out yet. Collection 8 sets the mood for the finale of Evangelion, and that finale is VERY huge, take my word I have seen both EVA movies, no not the fansubs but the DVD imports from the DVD distributor of the movie in Japan, which lucky for me had english subtitles. This collection will help you understand the EVA movies when they are released. In one episode on this collection there are many shocking scenes which are future posibilities, but which ones are the future? Only the 2 EVA movies will reveal that. Its these episodes which make watching the movies more suspenseful and intriguing, since you want to know if those visions in the previous episodes actually happen or if they were just visions. This DVD is a must if you intend to buy the movies that will be release later on this year. And where else are you going to get japanese, english, french, and spanish dub in one? Its is a great bargain once you think about it in those terms.

Summary: Artful ending to a Controversial series
Review: What many people have criticized as being too cerebral, I consider a wonderful ending to such a deep series.

With Rei revealed as a laboratory creation, and Asuka comatose in a hospital bed, Episode 24 sees the arrival of a new Child, a new type of Angel, and Shinji's most difficult decision of the entire series.

Episodes 25 and 26 are completely different from the rest of the series. Third Impact has occurred and man has evolved into a bodiless collective, connecting the consciousness of everyone together. The last two episodes see no mecha action, no angels and no battle. They instead follow up on the characters of Shinji, Rei, Asuka and Misato and how they are forced to cope with how they are perceived by everyone around them. Somewhat sad, the last two episodes bring the disturbed characters to terms with their pasts, and leave the viewer in speechless awe.

This ending was wonderful, but was also redone to actually show what happens to the lead-up to Third Impact in the movie End of Evangelion, which will be finally released in the States this summer.

Summary: One of the Two Endings
Review: There are two endings to Evangelion, this one, and the Movies which are going to be released by Manga Entertainment. This ending is a much more philosophical and pscyhological one, as the ones in the movies are much more action packed.

The final two episodes are real brain teasers which you will have to see over and over again to fully understand. You will truly be shocked by this ending and believe me, you will love it!

Summary: The Disturbing End to Evangelion
Review: This is the final volume of Neon Genisis: Evangelion. This DVD contains the three final episodes. The final angel makes its attack and humanity's fate is ultimately decided.

This is a great volume. Almost all of the loose ends are tied up. The rest are saved for the movies which will hopefully be premering for the first time in the US around late summer. The final angel is so unexpected, the fate of humanity is just... odd, secrets about all the main characters from Shinji and Rei to Gendo and Ritsuko are revealed, and in the end and we realize the major mistake NERV made by containing a certain crucified angel.

The quality of Evangelion went down, animation wise, in the last few episodes because of a lack of funding. Most of the episodes are recaps and re-used footage from previous episodes and the last episode is really different consisting of watercolour and pencil drawings. It may sound poor but its not really that bad. In truth, the animation really didn't take away from the climax and end of Evangelion. The final episode was brilliant in my opinion despite the financial set backs. The end of the series of Neon Genisis: Evangelion will leave you with a sense of wonder, awe, and confusion.

Summary: A slightly satisfying ending
Review: - This review contains no serious plot spoilers -

I admire the Evangelion series, but after finishing watching the entire series, I felt the last few episodes leave a little to be desired.

I highly recommend this series. It set standards for anime and there are few that compare. But, speaking within the context of the Evangelion series itself, I did not enjoy the final volume nearly as much as I did all of its predecessors.

You would expect the characters to have evolved by the end of the series; but Shiinji, Asuka, Rei, etc. do not seem to have learnt anything! Shiinji and Asuka are particularly annoying with their blatant weakness and whiny attitudes. Shiinji, being the protagonist, incurs in me contempt. "I don't wanna pilot the Eva!", "I can't run away!", and many other painfully infantile rants seem to be what make up the character of Shiinji. Seeing him fall to his knees, crying like a baby, does not incur sympathy in me unless he is actually able to overcome. After 8 volumes however he never really does, and, as is detailed in the last two episodes, he becomes even more weak, degenerate and pathetic.

That is really my only problem with the series! That is, the lack of character development by the end of the series. On the positive side, I was surprised at what turned out to be the final Angel; I never would've thought! I thought the final battle scene was well done as well. If you've seen all of the other volumes, don't let my review scare you! You have to finish the series!

Summary: The series ended with confusion and class
Review: Neon Genesis Evangellion is for the record not the best in the field of Anime. In fact I strongly have to believe that the only reason it recived such praise is the fact that it became incredibly bizzare towards the end. Very few talk about the battles, but more on how twisted the story got. However despite all the talk on how the series really is it's time to talk about how the series ended and why the movies kill the series.

In the final set of episodes (aka this DVD) there are a lot of problems going on with NErv and all of them. It starts off shortly after Shinji was forced to slay his best friend Karu, who turned out to be the final Angel. At this point Shinji is in a horrific state of depression and anger, while the ohter Characters are in their own problems. Rei is starting to realize just what she truely is, Auska is still pretty much comatose, and Nerv in General is facing not only complete shutdown, but total annihalation. But the final two episodes focus on the central character, shinji.

In the final two episodes Shinji is going through some very very deep soul searching. He is trying to understand why he was forced to kill Karu, why he is introverted, why he hates his father, and basically his sexuality as well. He is in some cases lectured by mental images of Auska, Rei, Misato, and the rest of the cast as he sits in a chair in what appears to be a school auditorium. During his soul searching he even enters an alternate reality where the 2nd impact never occured. He and Auska have been friends since they were children, his mother is still alive, his father is kind and loving man, and they encounter a new student, a very open minded Rei. The way this sequence (all 10 minutes of it) plays out it reminds viewers (or at least me) a lot of the way the series started when they all met for the first time (or at least when Auska first showed up). In the end of these two episodes I got the impression that he in some small manner found what he was looking for all along. He finally started to understand who he was and as a result he was ready to take the next step in life, and start to grow up and become a man, or at least an active teenager.

Overall the series had it's rough spots. There were moments that were just mind boggiling dumb or vague, and when it really turned weird is where you started to see where the creator had his mental breakdown. However despite all of that the series did end in class, and this is the ending that should be stuck with, not that piece of Garbage End of Envangellion. Watch this one and ignore the trash.

Summary: mind blowing
Review: I fear for the mental stability of Japanese children who grew up with this anime. Volume 8 of the collection sees through the bloody and twisted conclusion to SEEL and Ikari Gendo's grand design for humanity.

Summary: 25 good--26 bad
Review: Just to add, i think that the final episodes was what Anno originally invisioned for his masterwork. I know Gainax was running out of money so they really couldn't do much in the end (it shows), but they make up for it in delivering a visually masterfull ending. I also know that alot of the stuff they used were snippets from previous episodes, but the shots that the makers used and the way it is all edited together were really brialant. It fits absolutely perfect in a show such as Shin Seiki Evangelion where a normal "Holywood" ending would have been horrible and degrading. Yes, i would like some questions to be answered--but i would rather see an episode about what the show was truly about, the human experiance. They did also answer the biggest and most important question in the show---just what is the true nature of the HIP.

I absolutely loved episode 25, probably the best episode in the series. The editing was great, the shots were awsome, and the entire thing just fit. I also enjoyed how they showed every persons reaction to HIP.

Episode 26, however, was all about Shinji-which i have had enough of already in the show. I know that shinji is the paradigm of human weakness--but the HIP was about humans relationships with both themselves and OTHERS. At the end of 26, you are led to believe that this new world was created by and for shinji alone. It was also too happy---Shinji went kinda outta charecter in that one.

Also, the clapping was a bit over the top
