Summary: mind puzzler
Review: It seems that the plot and meaning of the last episode is hard to grasp for my 13 year old friend. I do admit that I had to think about it for awhile, but while i was watching the last episode my mind was racing with ideas of how the story was working out. At the end when he found his idenity where was he? I know he was being congradulated for making it out, but was that the instrumentality project? and is shinji's mom the eva's empty soul?

Summary: Good series - but only 3 episodes per dvd...
Review: This is an good example of a truly amazing anime being treated quite badly on DVD. Why only put 3 episodes on the last six discs when you can easily fit six episodes onto one disc. As usual it is money, I hope this is not the continuation of the anime trend on VHS when they only had 2 episodes per tape...! Anime fans will buy this whatever - and publishers know this and use it. What a shame they could not treat this series as well as Outlaw Star, martian succesor or Saber Marionette J.

Summary: Great Series Ends in Pseudo-Intellectual Mush
Review: Too bad. Up through episode 24, this was classic anime with great action balanced by interesting delineation of characters. The last two episodes seem to reflect a bad experience with an introductory college course in psychology. It's rambling, dopey, and trite. The rest of the series is five stars, the conclusion does not measure up.

Summary: Truly Incredible
Review: This truly is one of the best (Besides the End of Evangelion movie) artistic works ever. It examines the psyche of all the characters in a non-cliche manner. These last three episodes are the height of the series, and a must watch for anyone anime fan or not. Their are two complaints though. First, the very end is too sappy for my taste, but that may just be me, the movie has a much more dark and cynical end, as compared to the strange clapping and congratulations at the end of the last episode, but this isn't a big problem. Also, unless you read the Red Cross Book (Available online for free) it will not tie up all the loose ends, which will irritate most people who have watched the whole series waiting for definitive answers. Overall it is great (Only rivaled by the movie), well directed, and very thought provoking. It analyzes the depths of the human psyche (Particulary Shinji)in a very strange conclusion to the best series ever. Also, Kaworu is not gay (At least from my understanding), just overly friendly...thought I'd throw that in for fun ^_^

Summary: A Perfectly Realized Vision
Review: Deeply philosophical, and a very reaffirming ending to a series which had so many dark twists. A perfect end to a perfect series. The last two episodes on this disc (#25 & 26) were remade into a two-hour movie, Evangelion: Death & Rebirth, which is going to be released on U.S. DVD in October, I think, along with the other movie (The End of Evangelion) which is a two-hour reprise on the series up to episode #24. These are the very best episodes of the series, right here, so order it, make some sushi nori, get a bottle of saki, and sit down for a life-changing experience.

Summary: Only one good episode
Review: I'm giving this DVD 3 stars because of the three episodes on the disc, only the first is good. The last two episodes were the original ending to the series, which were confusing and just plain stupid. They didn't do justice to the series. No wonder the fans in Japan demanded another ending be made. Still waiting for Death/Rebirth & End of Evangelion to come out on domestic DVD.

Review: The last 2 episodes are the worst. Some say it is good but I think it the worst episodes in any anime I ever saw. Therefore I am waiting for the movie to come and It is a great anime but some of the episodes in the anime takes 1 star as for the last 2 episodes.

Summary: Qouth RAW "Operation Mind"
Review: I like to think I'm a reasonably literate man. I like to think my words can somewhat convey how I am affected by a piece of art. After watching 0:8 of Evangelion, however, I am at a loss. I know that nothing I type here can truly convey how this work affected me. This is a good thing. It proves (to me, at least) that the art-form in question has methods of conveying its meaning far stronger than words. Ignore the reviews. Ignore what you've heard. This is, by far, the best ending to any animated series bar none. After watching this disc, I felt enjoined to review the entire series to see precisely how it had built to this moment, much like in reading The Kindly Ones (Sandman) I felt I had to go back and re-read that series. This comparison is not made lightly... Eva is to Anime as Sandman (and Maus) was to Western comics: Literature. Normally, I'd have striken a star on my rating for the quality of the transfer. Pretty much everyone who's been following this series' release on DVD is aware of the techincal problems with the discs. I can't, though. I truly think that anyone who can even somewhat respond to this medium needs to see this series and should see it through to its conclusion, despite the techincal problems with the discs. Do yourself a favor: If you've not seen any Eva but appreciate Anime, go buy 0:1 today. It's seemingly full of Anime cliche, but follow the series through and you'll see why. If you have been following Eva up to this point, why haven't you bought this disc yet? Do not pass go, do not collect $200 dollars, pick this one up now.

Summary: Great Story. But poor job by ADV of putting Eva on DVD
Review: Everyone has their opinions about the actual ending. Personally, I like this ending's abstract and philosophical nature. True, the first time I saw it I was shocked because it was totally apart from what I expected. I also saw the end of evangelion too. Which gave me a bit more clarity. I will not really dive into my opinion of the ending apart from this. +5 stars for story, controversy and appeal. However, I was dissapointed in AD Vision's job in bringing us the series on DVD. First, the picture jerks to the right everytime the scene is about to change. I've heard complaints about this before and on earlier discs.. This on top of everything else bugs me the most. Not to mention how throughout the series, much of the 'background text' gets translated into english. On its own, not a big deal, but the job was so poorly done that you NOTICE that there was a change in that scene with a huge contrast between the new and original animation... Personally, I would prefer that companies such as adv should not modifiy the actual animation. It's ok that text is in japanese, just provide a quick translation underneath or something with the subtitling. -1 star for adv's messup. 4 stars total.

Summary: BEST SERIES EVER...BAR NONE!
Review: I really have no words to describe how wonderful this series has been...The final 3 episodes of this show are here, and after EVA, all other Anime seems...blah. Hate to say it, but it's true. Episodes 25 and 26 were not well received by many, as they are not really an "end" to the story(well, they are, yet...not the way most would expect). Regardless, the final 2 episodes are brilliant and masterful. For many people, repeated viewings of these last episodes will bring more insight and understanding to this series...sort of like reading Musashi's Book of 5 Rings...learn something new the more you read it. I've said it before...Evangelion is a masterpiece and all who like Anime should own the series. And for those who dislike the ending...the 2 movies await.
