Summary: For those unhappy with the ending....
Review: For the last two reviewers that gave this such low marks due to the conclusion, I should specify directly that THIS IS NOT THE FINAL PART OF EVANGELION! The movie, End of Evangelion, which hasn't yet been released outside Japan features the clear and definite conclusion of the series. So for those of you that are unhappy with how the series ends, WAIT FOR THE MOVIE CONCLUSION TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THIS.Also, it's worth mentioning, especially for the sake of the one that gave the prior review, that many of the actions that the characters take through the series are extremely photo-realistic. Shinji's thought process, which in this DVD is laid out for us all to examine, is very atypical of someone suffering from severe chronic depression and self-loathing. That's a mental problem, a simple 'get over it' has no benefit on that ground. Trust me word as someone who went through the same thing years ago. As well as that, many of the characters also symbolise steps on the Sephirot, vices that humankind would need to shed. For Asuka, she symbolises anger. For Gendo, it's apathy. For Shinji, it's hatred. Next, origins of the Angels. These are NEVER fully explained, just so you know. If you still don't understand, watch the episode 'Magma Diver' again, they've always been with us. Try looking up the names of the Angels, that gives clues as well. In the most basic sense, Evangelion is a series that REQUIRES US TO THINK FOR OURSELVES IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND it. There's more than enough clues for us to form our own theories on the how and why of things. If you're not the kind that likes being challenged to think, then give this series a break and know that I feel sorry for you having missed out on such a great and influencial experience.

Summary: Good Story... Wait a minute! That wasn't a story!
Review: Okay, I thought NGE was generally a good series with its high points and low points. I also had heard that the ending was sheer brilliance, which was true in a sense. For those of you who are wondering, the first episode on this DVD is really the final episode of the series, the other two are just an unexplained entrance into Shinji's mind. My god the kid is such a woman. He's obviously never heard the phase "Deal with it!". Sure he's got deep seeded mental issues, but he is by far not the most psycologicly tormented character on the show. So I guess my main point is why do we care? I would've been much more satisfied with an ending that actually explained the many interesting little secrets of the show. But to each his own I guess.

Summary: Great animation......wasted
Review: Eva was a great series but in the end i appears as though everything was sacraficed for character developement. The plot is full of holes and left relatively unresolved. If you enjoy character developement then this last volume should give you a smile but if you were expecting the conclusion of this story then you will be very angry. Eva was a good series with lots of potential but it focused too much on character development and forgot about everything else......what could have been......

Review: I would definantly reccomend this DVD. Though not much like any of the others, this installment is still (in my opinion) one of the best of the eva series.

Summary: Dont ask yourself the questions!
Review: This is probably the best and weirdest episodes in all of evangelion the and by all means do not ask yourself the questions while watching or late at night or both. The guy who wrote that was seriouly messed up and neede help. But if he ad gotten it NGE would be this good. These are the most starteling and revelational of the evangelion series. I wont spoil it for you so if youve seen all of NGE up till this you have to see these episodes or NGE will be as meaning less as stubbing your toe..

Summary: A beautiful ending for an incredible show!Spoilers!
Review: Wow, I just saw these episodes the other day, and it was really beautiful, the music from the Kaoru episode is all classical, and this ending was rteally great, with the breaking through the glass analogy, and the changes in Shinji, great musci, tear jearker ending. it may seem dark as you start to watch it, but keep through. It al;so includes a hilarious Possible world in the final episode. This is a must see!

Summary: Not Your Typical Ending (spoilers)
Review: While some have raised the legitimate argument that episodes 25 and 26 represent an unnatural departure from the theme of the rest of the TV series, I believe that Anno's vision of the last episodes fits in perectly with what the show is really about: how human beings interpret themselves and how they interpret others.
The last two episodes delve into the mind of Shinji Ikari as he finally grasps the true meaning of his existence and questions his true motives behind piloting his EVA despite the trauma it inflicts upon his fragile mind.
In summary, this is a series that questioned what it means to be human and our motivations. Highly reccomended.

Summary: one of the best endings ever, to the best series ever
Review: As I read through the reviews on this DVD, I see a pattern in saying that end of eva is the true ending; however, this is not so. In my opinion, End of EVA was another ending, for those who either; 1. didn't like the real ending, or 2. Didn't understand the real ending.
Also this is not an side track from the main story, but a presentation of the human insturumentality project, or the completion of evolution. Some won't believe me on this, but if you pay attention in episode 25, you hear Gendo call Rei to go with him to Antarctica, where he causes the third impact, which in turn causes instrumentality. At the beginning of episode 26, it states that, and I quote "the year 2016, this is the completion, the restoration of what man's mind has lost. Instrumentality continues.". The rest (of the opening text) basically states that it would take to long to show the instrumentality in entirety, so they only show shinji's instrumentality.

Summary: It's not "about" Eva (WARNING: contain spoilers)
Review: Alot of people I know that saw Eva 8 didn't understand the last episodes. After I saw it, I realized that it's not about Evangelion or not about Evangelion anymore. It revolves around Shinji and his feelings (remember, this is how I looked at it). Poor Asuka is losing her mind and Rei is (I believe) just some thing or another being controlled by Gendo Ikari. Ritsuko is terribly messed up and I don't know what to say about Misato. The fifth child Nagisa arrives and turns out to be an angel. Nagisa seems to be the first person to actually be a true friend to Shinji, but sadly fate seperates them. The story alone is stunning and the ending is great. I highly recommend adding Eva 8 to your collection.

Review: The end of the greatest epic anime series in existence. I cannot say more. The last two episodes were...intriguing. They really don't fit the series, but they are marvelous anyway. No more do I have to say about Evangelion. (You can rejoice later). gO bUy It!
