Summary: Truly a Materpiece!
Review: It comes a time when a Anime series get such attention, adoration, and popularity, that the industry makes a Movie/OAV of the anime series. Most of the time, fans are so hyped by the media and friends, they tend to overvalue something that really is subpar product. But worst of all, it's never as good as the original anime series.. (exception of others ex:Ranma/Drangon ball etc..)

Samura x (Ruroni Kenshin) - Trust and Betrayal, is one of those rare Anime Films that overcomes the general expectation but also surpasses the original. Gone are the light humor and slapstick that fans of Rurouni Kenshin are use to. In are the past reflection of Rurouni Kenshin from his youth to how he became the most feared Battousai in the past historical time of military dictatorship of the Tokugawa Shogunate and how the power to the Emperor return in the Meiji Restoration of 1868. It also shows the reflection of violence and gore (as a symbol of the harsh reality of battle, death, and corruption) which was the true essential formula that the director Kazuhiro Furuhashi used to display in this film. You don't have to be the fan of the original TV series to watch this four part OAV series. I, like many other Kenshin fans, saw the OVA version before the anime series... and was hooked.

I decided to submitt my review after reading "*" star review of this anime film. If your a anime/manga fan, violence comes with the territory. If a realistic views of death in a battle is a major problem with anime such a Samurai X, obviously your better off watching the "sailor moon" or "pokemon".. or maybe Japanese Anime aren't MEANT FOR YOU!!! (although even those anime series shows some form of violence.) Just think how materpiece movies like "Saving Private Ryan" or even "BraveHeart" display violence and gore in a form which gives the viewers the true realistc vision of violence of death in the field of battle.

Samurai X (X for X scar on Kenshin's face) was created after the TV series to show the dark, serious side of Kenshin Himura(Shinta), and how traumatizing past events lead to what he is now. How happy youthful young boy named Shinta becomes a witness to a gruesome death of defenseless people who tries to protect him 'till the end..with their lives. This event leads Kenshin with a desire to become the worlds most feared and the best swordsman alive for one mission: to use his skills to protect the weak and end the senseless corruptions..to kill for a better world. But life he chooses to live as a feared angel of death (revenge) has no place for feelings.. that is until he meets a young girl named Tomoe, and discovers the true sense of justice, but most of all.. loss of a loved one.

Samurai X is definitely not another Ninja Scroll. There are no monsters or special powers that evil characters posses, but a siplay of a realistic swordsmanship. If your looking for fireballs and flying ninjas then be dissapointed. But if you are a anime fan of an beautiful story line, deep character developement with love and deception, this masterpiece is a MUST OWN. It's one of those rare anime films that makes you feel for the each characters and capture your emotions from beginning 'till the very end.

Summary: The Best Of Rurouni Kenshin
Review: By far this is the best of the Rurouni Kenshin series. Samuri X tells the story of how Kenshin gets his "X" shaped scar. I'm not going to go into the story for spoiler reasons ,but if you liked "Ninja Scroll" or any other hardcore swordfighting action animes you owe it to yourself to at least see it.

Don't plan on buying this unless you plan on getting "Samuri X:Betrayal." This DVD Will forever be on my top 3 list.

Summary: An excellent prelude to an excellent series
Review: Trust is one of the best anime dvds i've ever seen. A young boy
named Shinta is adopted by a slave wagon. One night a band of cold blooded killers attack the wagon and cause a blood fest. Shinta is protected by three girls from the wagon that treated him like as if he was their own. The three girls are killed and right when the killers are about to kill Shinta, a man named Seijuro Hiko comes and kill off the murderers. Hiko takes Shinta as a apprentice of the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu and renames him Kenshin. Thus the start of the movie. The english voice overs were very well done and the music was stunning.

Summary: Couldnt Get Much Better ....
Review: Although it could not get much better, I still have to give it 4 stars. If this DVD only had the original Japanese version then it would be a 5 star DVD. The dub is typical of Kenshin ... It's terrible. The characters show even less emotion than they do originally and that's not a good thing.

Summary: sugoi... the best...
Review: I first picked up this dvd because I had heard so much about it being one of the best anime ever. You shouldn't ever judge something by it's cover, that's for sure. I expected something boring but I was so suprised! The animation is very dark and bloody. Which makes it so beautiful. It just touches you with beauty. It's about a young boy named Shinta (renamed Kenshin later on) who grows up to become a man who slays to bring forth the new era. Along the way, He meets a woman named Tomoe. I shouldn't say anymore except that this anime is something that you shouldnt miss. It's captured every essence of a beautiful and dark tale thrown into a sad story. It is a must see! (I'm actually doing an overall review for both of the dvd's- Trust and Betrayal)

Summary: Samurai X - Trust (Rurouni Kenshin) FIVE STARS ABSOLUTELY
Review: hate to think that this one's from Japan but I guess I have to admit that they do make great animations.

This one is the greatest amine by far!
Those who haven't seen it yet, better go and get it.
I personally tend to highly regard any movie with great scores and this one falls into that kind.
Never heard so heart-touching score ever since "The mission"
The orchestral score will definitely touch a string in your heart. Not that I'm saying that the graphic and story line are not as good as the music!

What can I say?
"Seeing is believing"

Summary: THIS ANIME IS GREAT!
Review: haha.. I have seen a very well dubbed korean version of kenshin...
oh my gosh..
I have watched these 6 episodes over 20 times over now, and I can never seen to get sick of it. The music is capturing, and the storyline is soooo good!! (I wish I could say some more stuff... but I can't) The fighting scenes are so cool, the bathousai's moves are captured in such detail and liveliness, it seems almost real. The OVA also has many flashbakc now and then trying to explain the bathousai's motives.

(I RECOMMEND STROOOONGLY THAT YOU GET A SUBBED VERSION)

e-mail me if you want to see the movie. It's only 20 MB per episode. hahaha.. but the quality isn't as good as the DVD..

Summary: Miss this and you've missed everything
Review: Samurai X, the title is a little decieving. I first saw this in the Philippines under its real name Rurouni Kenshin. I'm covering all four episodes because it would be easier than writing two separte reviews. As the OAV started I did not have high expectations but was soon blown away as the first notes of music floated from the speakers. First off I'm a sucker for backround music, so as you can guess I immediatly fell in love with it. The animation is astounding, and the scenes are fluid. For awhile I had forgotten I was watching anime. The fight scenes are spectacular, the plot moving, and the music haunting. If you believe that buying two DVDs seems too expensive to be worthwhile I recommend that you rethink your view. I have watched these OAVs more times than I can remember and each time it has managed to keep me completely enthralled by its brillance. I leave you without a plot summary because it is better as a complete suprise. Personally the first DVD is my favorite but the second is not to be looked over. If there is one anime to see this would be it. I will warn that the plot and violence is not meant for small eyes. The scenes do get bloody and it would be a waste to watch such a magnifigant anime wihtout understanding it. I would not recommend this for someone new to the anime scene either, if this is you go watch the TV series first then come back so you can fully appreciate this. This is an OAV series for the serious, for comedy look elsewhere for you will not find it here. A few last pieces of parting advice, there is a fine misting of politics covering the OAVs so it may take two viewings or so for everything to fall into place or I might just be a little slow and require those extra viewings, your call. The dub will not be worth your while unless you absolutely loathe the idea of having to read subtitles. Also chances are that I'm not the only one who will be left sitting there going "wow, what really happened during that time period though?" after finishing the OAVs. It might be worth your while to glance over a bit Japanese history afterwards to get the full affect. Of course, I may just be a history buff, once again, your call. I babble, ramble, and digress, just order the DVDs and try them out; you won't regret it. And if you do you have permission to send me a nasty rant about how I mislead you and made you buy [these] DVDs. But I really don't think it'll be a problem.
