Summary: The best of the Tenchi Muyo movies...
Review: Daughter of Darkness, originally titled Midsummer's Eve or Manatsu no Eve in Japan, is definitly the best of the Tenchi movies.Since there has been a large debate, which I won't get into, over whether it follows the OVA or the Universe plotline I will just say ... it has a nice mix of both the series, including a favored character named Kiyone. The story starts off when a young girl named Mayuka appears and called Tenchi 'daddy' which, of course, sends Ayeka and Ryoko into a violent rage. Main problem is, no one knows who could be the father. Luckily, Washu - resident genius, discovers one of the hairs from Mayuka is silver. How odd... they discover that Mayuka was actually created from one of Tenchi's genes, and one of Yazuha's. Yazuha is the demon (or daughter) of darkness. She fell in love with Tenchi's grandfather Katsuhito, also known as Yosho, generations ago back on Jurai but there love was broken apart and Yazuha was sentanced back to her eternal playland. Now she wants revenge and she is going to use Mayuka and her own powers to wreak it! BUT will the crew survive... and what will become of Mayuka if they do?

Summary: Great . . . . Almost
Review: This movie was pretty good. It has an intersting story, a girl that is supposedly Tenchi's daughter shows up and wreaks havoc on Ryoko and Ayeka. It has the action and comedy that Tenchi Muyo normally has, but it wasn't perfect. The first one is better. This movie starts okay, but gets a bit boring toward the end. It finally picks up at the very end, with the fight. It is too short. Only one hour long. Washu pobably doesn't get as much screen time in this movie as she does in the first one, but the movie is so short, she seems to have a much bigger part. Some scenes made no sense at all. It seems like Myuka (the daughter) has to kiss, or lick, Tenchi to bring him to the dark world where her creator, Yuzuha, tries to take out her anger with Yosho on Tenchi. It's all weird, and why Yuzuha would choose that act to bring Tenchi to her I cannot figure out. Some other small annoying bits are Washu's ugly clothes, Tenchi's sudden case of patheticness, and Mihoshi.

Review: I've been a Tenchi fan since it came out and I think this is the best the Tenchi has ever gotten. Dude, you have to watch this movie. If you are gonna watch only one of the Tenchi movies, it should be this one. If you're planning on buying this, then it is a good decision. Have a good time with this product if you bought it!

Summary: Daughter of Darkness
Review: Well Let's just say that it is a very very fast moving movie. They don't really take there time in scenes and it is kinda hard to keep track. I would strongly recomend renting before buying. It was cute in parts but had confusing parts. I would only recomend this to a true fan. I was also disapointed a little how they twisted the characters. Ryoko and Aeka did not fight at all. Aeka was actually not much how you would expect and she hardly even played a role. Really Ryoko,Tenchi, and his so called daughter of Darkness were it.

Summary: Shall I Compare Thee to a Manatsnu Eve?
Review: This is easily my favorite film in the series and it is not even really a sequel! It was released as a double-feature alongside "Slayers: the Movie" [which is only 75 minutes in length (Tenchi is 60 minutes)] This is one of my all-time favorite movies, one I never get tired of seeing. What makes the film for me more than anything is the length: a mere sixty minutes! Not really long enough to be considered a "feature-length" film, and not really short enough to be, well...a short. I have a whole philosophy about the use of 'length' in a film. I've seen 2 1/2 hour films that seem to go by in a matter of minutes, and I've seen 75 minute films that DRAG! (and both in ways that work for the film!) Manatsnu Eve has all the plot and story elements of a feature length film, in roughly half the time! The other thing that makes the film for me is the music. Okay, so it doesn't have Christopher Franke from the first film, but that's all right; the music of Koh Ohtani seems to take the same approach to tone and mood to the film that Franke took to the first film. My favorite piece is the one played during the Shojin dinner. In addition the music itself, its coordination with the film's sound effects is all too admirable, neither complementing nor undermining them. There is also the story itself, easily one of the best written for the Tenchi series. It is one in which the action is comparable and equal to the dramatic elements and character psychology (a principle of film that seems to have obtained the title of 'lost art'). The relationship between Mayuka and Sasami is as heartwarming as can possibly be achieved (case in point: after the 'bath chase' sequence, when Mayuka has just been sent away from Tenchi's room by a watchdogging Ryoko and Ayeka, Mayuka mopes halfway down the staircase and stops, her head bowed low. Sasami walks over asking how Tenchi is. Mayuka: "I don't know I guess he's not feeling well." Sasami:"Oh, I'm sorry...hey, you wanna play a game with me?". CUT to Mayuka, CU as she looks up for the first time. Cut back to Sasami:"M'kay?" CUT back to Mayuka, CU, as her look of sadness fades from her face.) The subtlety of facial expressions, as demonstrated in that scene, are one of the films high points and one cannot help but smile upon viewing of that scene. Overall, it may not be a genuine sequel, and it may have a slighly different produciton crew (Satoshi Kimura instead of series head writer and director Hiroshi Negishi), but you won't even care about that as you will be enthralled by this heartwarming story.

Summary: Tenchi Muyo the movie 2: Daughter of Darkness
Review: This tenchi movie is probably as good as the first movie. There is a lot of comic relief in the beginning and more serious issues toward the end. The music and effects are very good, though i think that the first movie had more fighting and action than this does.The movie takes place at Tenchi's house and it is beautiful summer day. As tenchi and the rest of the gang rest peacefully in the sun, a mysterious person (you really couldn't consider her a person) watches over them. This woman of darkness creates a girl a little younger than tenchi by a strand of her hair and a strand of tenchi's hair. As tenchi is talking a walk, she appears before his eyes. Washew is very suspicious the way she appeared and royko is VERY suspicious of her. For some odd reason, she calls tenchi daddy which makes everyone sort of crazy. If your a royoko fan, you'll like this movie. In many parts, many of the issues deal with royoko both in good ways and bad ways. Anyway this movie is excellent and I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars maybe because of personal interest of more battling between vilians and good guys and the length. It should have been longer like the first movie, this was too short for me especially at the very ending Other than that, it is a great movie

Summary: This one proves my point
Review: Anyone who watched anything in the Tenchi saga's knows Ryoko loves Tenchi, and would do anything for him. This movie here shows exactly how much Ryoko loves Tenchi since you actually see her crying after chasing off his daughter. Plus Tenchi and Ryoko have a heart to heart talk that is just classic. If you like Ryoko/Tenchi situations you'll love this movie. Plus it has a cool fight scene where Ryoko and Tenchi fight the villian in her home realm. What could be better than that!

Summary: Not as excellent as the others
Review: This is an OK movie. However out of the three movies I'd have to say this one would be the worst. Don't go thinking this is a bad movie it's just that the other movies were longer and more interesting. This movie had it's moments but the plot was pretty predictable. The two characters Mayuka and Yuzuha were alright, but there not the best. As far as the original characters go Tenchi and Ryoko are the only one's with decent roles in this movie. Ayeka and Sasami don't really get involved in the situation till the end. All the others are just minor characters as usual. OK backround music, but could have been better. I mainly gave this movie 4 stars just because of how long it was. So there are only a few bad things about this movie. So if your a Tenchi fan I recommend this.

Summary: Funny and beautiful!
Review: This movie much surpasses the first. (What can I say? I didn't like the first very much.) I love the villian, Yuzuha, and of course the ever-oblivious Mayuka! I love Ryoko in this movie, and I think she shows her true spirit here. When Tenchi slapped her I was upset, but it all turned out for the better. And Washu fans, she's at her ultimate kawaiiness here!

Summary: A really enjoyable movie
Review: After hearing many good reviews about this movie, i decided to check it out for myself. Indeed i am very impressed at how well it was. The characters all seemed well developed, and i enjoyed the Ryoko/Tenchi relationship that they had. Even that slight little moment with Ayeka And Ryokoo being nice to one another. I have to say you cant help but feel sorry for yuzuha. Very funny, enjoyable, short (only because it was'nt a movie in japan), so i just add this to the classic Series im just starting to collect.
