Description:
The rain of feathers and flower petals continues as the Seven Dragons of Heaven begin to assemble in Tokyo: bouncy Yuzuriha with her dog-spirit Inuki, sword-wielding maiden Arashi, and goofy, good-natured Sorata. Hinoto, the princess-seer whose hair flows in Art Nouveau swirls, announces that sullen, icy Kamui is the key to the forthcoming battle between the Dragons of Heaven and Dragons of Earth. If he joins the Dragons of Heaven, Earth will be saved; if he joins the Dragons of Earth, the planet will be destroyed. Kamui declares he cares for nothing (although he loves the blandly virtuous Kotori) and walks out. In addition to the subplots involving the Divine Swords and the death of Kamui's mother, director Yoshiaki Kawajiri continues to present flashbacks, dreams, visions, and montages. Baroque and overblown, X offers some striking imagery but little coherent storytelling. (Rated 16 and older: violence, nudity, minor profanity, grotesque imagery) --Charles Solomon
