Summary: I'm a big fan of Mega Man
Review: The show is cute and all. I think it could have been better. The animation was superb but that couldn't save the show. It seems as though the people who made this show didn't care when it came to series and character development. I like the character(Robots)designs though. Oooooh the purists are gonna eat me alive for that. The voice actors were pretty good. I think the animators and screenwriters didn't care a lick. No wonder this show bombed. I hope I become a famous animation director I would have done a much better job.

Summary: Good, Though Inaccurate, Video Game-Based Cartoon Series
Review: This DVD set contains all 13 episodes of the first season of "Mega Man", which originally aired in late 1994. There are no extra features. This animated series is based on the popular video game series of the same name (the original Mega Man series, not X, Legends, Battle Network, or anything else). It's an American cartoon series, not anime. Even though a lot of Japanese people worked on the series, it was written by American writers, some of which wrote episodes for "Captain N: The Game Master". This series is better than Captain N, though, mostly due to the better animation. Still, it's pretty inaccurate compared to the video games. The writing ranges from atrocious to okay. Most of the plots are cheesy. Some of them are stupid. None of the episodes are based on the plots of the actual games; rather, they occur probably between "Mega Man V" and "Mega Man VI". No one calls Mega Man by his given name, Rock, after the first episode. The origins of Proto Man, Mega Man, and Roll are somewhat inaccurate. The series even contradicts itself on who built Proto Man. Also, the writers probably saw only parts of "Mega Man III" and "Mega Man V", because they made Proto Man a bad guy in this series. He works for Dr. Wily. The theme music is okay, but the lyrics are uninspired. The robots have emotions (they're not supposed to), sometimes disobey orders (they're not supposed to), and often make idiotic decisions that their computer brains should be incapable of making. Most of the robot designs are inaccurate. The way that the robots' weapons are used is inaccurate. Rush never runs out of energy, and Mega Man illogically rides him pretty much everywhere. Mega Man often loses his weapon energy when he gets wet, which doesn't happen in the games. A lot of the items from the games, such as teleportation capability and energy capsules, aren't in the cartoon series. Still, on the positive side, the voices are good. Garry Chalk, who voiced King Hippo on Captain N, voices Guts Man here. Michael Donovan, who voiced Eggplant Wizard on Captain N, voices Ring Man here (though he rarely appears). In an interesting twist, Ian James Corlett, who voiced Dr. Wily on Captain N, voices Mega Man here. Dr. Wily (with a German accent) and Proto Man are voiced by Scott McNeil. Dr. Light is voiced by Jim Byrnes (Joe Dawson on "Highlander: The Series"). Roll is voiced by the wonderful Kathleen Barr (later to voice Megan Fassler on "NASCAR Racers"). Even Cathy Weseluck (who would later voice Cybersix) does additional voices. Another positive aspect of this series is that they beefed up Roll's role (she's now Mega Man's sidekick, pretty much) and redesigned her to look hot and wear pants, a shirt, and boots instead of a dress and girls' shoes. No, these things are not accurate to the games, but I think they're an improvement. Roll can now kick robotic [...] (albeit with appliances in her arm rather than a plasma cannon). She's cute. Rush is kind of Scooby Doo-like, but, unlike Scooby Doo, Rush is actually entertaining. Eddie (Flip Top in the games) is cute and adds to the humor. Overall, this series isn't spectacular, but it's okay and pretty amusing.

Summary: Must have for Megafans!!
Review: This is the complete first season of one of the greatest cartoons of all time, for me anyways. All Mega Man fans should have this set. Is this cartoon series entirely in sync with the official Mega Man video game storyline? No, among other things Proto Man is still a villain. Put the differences aside and just enjoy the neverending war between Mega Man and Wily. The episodes serve up a ton of robotic action, and appearances by all your favorite Wily robots.(Look out for Season 2 to get the "Mega X" episode which is awesome)

Summary: A classic series returns shy of any special features
Review: This was a series that back in it's debute was in terms of animation style second only to Batman the animated series. This looked really good. Also the clever mix of action and comedy ensured that this would appeal to all audiences.
The story behind this dvd is that Dr. Wily and his robots are consistantly developing plans to conquer the world. Wilys primary three robots are Cutsman, Gutsman, and Protoman. Each episode also features one or more guest robots who assist Wily. Generally its Snakeman or Bombman, but we do get to see characters through game 5 of the series.
One of the greatest aspects of the series was the opening sequence. This alone is easily one of the best seen out there with a catchy tune and lots of action to promise what will be seen.
This dvd features the first half of the entire series and is worth picking up. I am not giving it five stars however due to the fact that there are no special features at all on this dvd. However at a three DVD set with the first half of the series you can't go wrong.

Review: Those things happen to be the episodes of this show. I first had the displeasure of viewing it one Sunday morning at around 6 AM in 2001... "COOL!" I thought at the time, "A Megaman cartoon!" Unfortunately, the show was horrible. From the horrid artwork, inane plots, and blatant disregard for any semblance of accuracy in regard to the Megaman universe, it all added up to garbage. Needless to say I hoped it would quitely stay there and never see the light of day again. Unfortunately, it seems I was wrong, and whatever powers may be have unleashed this abomination upon the world. If you're a Megaman fan, watching this is something akin to seeing someone throw kittens out of a 3 or 4th story window. It's messed up enough to be amusing at first, but sooner or later the horror of what you're witnessing will hit home. If you're simply an anime/animation fan, then you're really barking up the wrong tree, since this was produced by people in the US who likely couldn't even get jobs making your average Saturday morning cartoon. It's that bad. All in all, I can heartily recommend you do NOT bother with this ... attempt.

Summary: The only Megaman series where Megs is a real character!
Review: Unlike the new Megaman-NT Warrior series, this original syndicated cartoon from the 90s(which also played a little on ABC Family)is NOT anime. This was an original North American production that was dubbed in Canada. In it, Megaman is named Rock and created by a friendly scientist, along with his domestic sister Roll and his flying robopooch. But, the evil Dr. Wylie along with Megaman's prototype Protoman have their own army of robots they use to try and take over the world. Fortunately, Megaman can take their powers away from them and use them as his own weapons(sorta like Kirby!). This series ran for 26 episodes. At least from not being an anime, at least this series has Megaman as a for-real character and not some gameskin in a VR game.

Summary: This aint the Mega Man I knew as a kid!
Review: While this is a pretty good cartoon its not really accurate to the games. First off all the robots are too tall & too muscle bound,secondly their weapons dont work the same way in the show that they do in the game. Another down side is there are none of the latter day robots from Mega Man 5-8 which is bad because one of the coolest robots in the whole series "Bass" is not in the show. A third problem is Mega Man himself,the problem is Mega Man is really just a little boy and this one looks like an adult!
(WAH,WAH,WAH) Why oh why couldent they make a Mega Man TV show with the same animation as in the cut-sceanes of Mega Man 8 ?!?
Last but not least this is not anime but american art. Whats one thing that could have made the show better? How about some plots that arnt down right corney! Want a good example of how corney this show can get? Then check out the fabled Dino World episodes!
Mega Man season 1 is still worth buying but after that its all down hill from there."C'mon Treble, its time to go they said
they only want lame looking robots on this show-Bass

Summary: MEGA AWESOME!
Review: Wow! This is incredible. I never thought that this would happen! I used to watch this show back in the day whenever I had the chance. Before this, I only had a couple of the episodes on tape. But not anymore! Now I have the whole first season! Err.. Anyway. Even though it doesn't really follow the game alot, it's still a great show. The episodes are fun to watch, and it brings back alot of great memories. I've been a fan of the blue bomber since '96. I'm still a big MM fan. I can't wait until Volume 2 comes out! Definately purchase this set, It's worth every dollar.

Summary: A real steal
Review: You've probably read all of the other reviews, so I won't get into what the show is about. I'll just say that if you like action cartoons from the early 90's, you might very likely enjoy this show. If you can ignore the inaccuracies to the games, just enjoy the show the way it is. Of course, what really made me want to pick this up is the sheer amount of...episodes. 13 half hour episodes is DEFINITELY worth the money.
