Summary: a fun anime series.
Review: Love Hina must be one of the funniest anime series I've seen. It's about a desperate semi-nerdy guy named Keitaro, who's trying to get into Tokyo U to meet the girl he made a promise with since he was a little boy. The promise was to get there together when they grow up. The problem is that he doesn't remember her name or what she looks like because it's been a long time. Later he ends up living in an all girls dorm surrounded by girls while trying to get into Tokyo U. Love Hina is funny cause there's always wacky scenes going on like Keitaro getting beat up by the girls all the time. It's not just wacky, cause the story and the characters get emotional sometimes. There's always trouble, crazy situations, adventures, and a lot of new characters are introduced throughout the series. All the characters personalities are solid and the storyline is interesting. If you're looking for some fun anime, you should check this out.

Review: They say never to judge a book (or DVD) by it's cover, but i am awfully tempted to give this thing a lower score due to the horrendous box art. geez, something better would have been a wide shot of all the characters or something. but if you look under the nastiness that dwells on the surface, you find a pretty, shiny disc inside! oh joy! your cash was not wasted! pop into your dvd player and prepare yourself for one of the greatest mangas of our time. the perfect blend of comedy, romance, and stuff, this is simply a masterpiece. however, i suggest you read the manga first, then watch this. It's interesting to see just how much they changed, and how much is similar. if you never liked any sort of anime, get this, some horror anime, and a little gundam and prepare to be transformed into a cosplayin' con-visitin' geek.

Summary: Has its moments, but more infurating than fun.
Review: Hapless, accident-prone Keitaro makes a promise to a girl fifteen years ago that he and she will both attend Tokyo U "and live happily ever after." Keitaro fails to get in and ends up (amazingly!) becoming the janitor of an all-girls dorm. And he's surrounded by a quintet of beautiful women -- including mischief-making Su Koalla, shy but sweet Shinobu Maebara, man-hating Ninja Motoko Aoyama, fun-loving Mitsune "Kitsune" Kanno, and brainy but incredibly short-tempered and impossibly violent (not to mention outrageously bitchy) Naru Nagesawa. Of all these females (who occasionally treat him like a punching bag -- namely Naru and Motoko), Keitaro thinks that he may find his long-lost sweetheart in Naru, who also made a promise to someone at Tokyo U. Keitaro spends much of the time throughout the series getting physically abused, falsely accused, making mistakes (all quite by accident) that require him begging for mercy, and all other sorts of painful torture before he finally gets the girl (or does he?). If the above sounds silly and uninspired, it is. But this isn't alone what drags LOVE HINA down. The show, based on a popular manga by Ken Akamitsu, is a collection of cliches all grossly exaggerated in an attempt to be funny -- multi-faceted, hysterical nutcases, klutzy guys, irrational behaviors -- and on some levels it works but on many others it flops. Some episodes are entertaining: one of them is a parody on the ever-popular Japanese RPG series DRAGON QUEST while two others are a music video episode and a stage play that (literally!) brings down the house as well as much of the stage. And there are some likable characters, mainly Shinobu, a sweet, shy, sensitive doll who would (ideally!) be the right catch for Keitaro. The artwork is beautiful -- entirely created digitally, resulting in some spectacular shots, including fireworks, rippling waters, and many more. Unfortunately, these benefits all seemed dragged down by a number of flaws that are appallingly too grating to ignore. Some of the gags are forced and may not translate well with others. And some episodes are less interesting than others; I actually found myself pulling away from it by the end of Volume 4, watching the last episodes only in bits and pieces. But the most offensive drawback of all is that the characters express dispicably stupid behavior -- how am I supposed to believe that Naru secretly loves Keitaro when all she does is violently assault him, badmouth him, get jealous when he tries to be nice to someone else, and nasty to him when he is trying to be good to her? And how can Keitaro possibly survive all the nasty assaults and still have to be responsible for EVERYTHING everyone gets upset about? So much of this is thrown at us, that LOVE HINA actually becomes more infuriating to watch rather than funny. I understand LOVE HINA has its fans, but I didn't find the show as entertaining as I would have liked. Even the ending was a groaner. I did enjoy some parts of the show, but it's not one I would consider myself getting for keeps. I'd suggest renting it just one time before making any decisions. The DVD presentation, meanwhile, is exceptional. The video quality is pristine and clear, and, on Volumes 3 and 4, there are behind-the-scenes videos -- an interview with the show's director and the other with the dubbing crew --. The dub is a mixed bag; it's lower mixed than the Japanese language track, and some of the voices are obnoxious and grating: do they REALLY have to sound so high-pitched and squeaky? Keitaro and Naru's voices were okay, and some others were fine, but on the whole, this dub doesn't rank up there as one of the best I've heard. All in all, I cannot recommend LOVE HINA as pleasant viewing entertainment. However, there are a number of fans who believe otherwise, so I will not bother to argue. After all, people are inclined to have their own opinions.

Review: People love this title like mad, and I'm no exception. I recommend that you read the manga (graphic novels) first, because the story is better developed in the original format. The DVD version is a little watered down. For example, in the scene where Naru and Keitaro have an illicit beer after an unhappy event, the anime replaces the beer with tea. In some places the story is so compressed that it loses depth. But after you read the manga, you will come back for the anime because you'll be hungry for more. Here's some more data: Love Hina is immensely popular in Japan too. So much that the anime voice actors went on tour and did a live act where they sang and danced (look for "Love Live Hina" and/or "Final Selection" on Google). The show was cheesey, but they still filled huge auditoriums with crazy fans who ate it up. Heck, I ate it up and I only saw the dvd (no subtitles!). Watch out, you could become otaku for this series!

Summary: Hillarious comedy for guys!
Review: Love Hina is that type of romantic comedy which is filled with cute and some not so cute (drooool) :-) characters and only one guy (Tenchi Muyo, Hand Maid May, Ah My Goddess!). It is a show about a single guy who ends up in a situation where he is surrounded by a large group of women who are either infatuated with him (Naru, Mitsune, Shinobu) or just want to beat him up :-) (Sarah, Kaolla, Motoko) for good measure. If you thought that was enough - the show introduces additional female characters as it progresses. What is a single (mistaken for being a pervert) boy to do in such a case......but get beaten up 2.5 times on average per episode by the girl of his dreams or is she the real girl of his dreams because with so many of them around - who can tell? Oh well - when not being beaten up by the one or the other, Keitaro spends his time with Narusagawa and Mitsune studying for university entrance exams. Oh well I can see some humour in that. Study groups never worked for me.....:( Poor Keitaroooooo I so pity you - NOT! :-). Get this series on DVD and join Naru, Mitsune, Kitsune, Motoko, Mei, Moe, Shinobu, Kaolla and Sarah on a really wicked adventure - Surviving Urashima Keitaro. Highly recommended by someone who liked Kare Kano, Hand Maid and To Heart and who's waiting in anticipation for Amazon.com to release Cosplay Complex.

Summary: #1 Romantic Comedy Anime (at least that's what I think)
Review: Love Hina is my personal favorite anime next to Gundam and others. It is really, really funny with lots of twists in it. The story line is amazing and not confusing at all. Once I watched the first episode, I knew that I needed the other Volumes. In other words, it's about a guy named Keitaro Urashima who made a promise with a girl 15 yrs. ago to get into Todai (Tokyo U.), the only thing is he doesn't remember what she looks like or her name... Find out what else happens by watching this great anime series, there is no doubt that you will love it if you are a anime fan or not.

Summary: Hee, Hee Hilarious
Review: Love Hina is a hilarious DVD (much better then the books in my opinion) the english dubbed is a little strange it makes some of the characters sound dorky, and I don't really like the front cover, but disregarding those two things this is a hilaroius, fast paced show. It is about a boy(keitaro) who by lying becomes the manager of an all girls apartment! Keitaro has been trying to get into Tokyo-U but he has failed his entrance exams three times. He is also looking for this girl he made a promise to 15 years ago. The characters are all great (expissaslly su) but the beginning of the first one is a little but strange. The drawings are wonderful and creative and I like all those guys who walk through the village. But if you're into big action/andeventure and fighting stuff this anime isn't for you. But if you like cute funny strange romances like marmalade boy or Kodocha you will love Love Hina (sorry that sounded kinda strange) So anyways a vey good Anime, worth the money.

Summary: Obsessions
Review: I won't waste time 'describing' the anime itself, as so many others have done that. I will start out by saying, as the title implies, I am truly -obsessed- with this anime. The English dub may be lousy, but it grows on you eventually. I'll admit that compared to the manga itself by the extremely talented Ken Akamatsu, the anime is quite a disappointment. Some different stuff happens, or they just plain twist what really did happen, leaving you feeling that they could have done better. I recommend that you start out with the manga first. It's alot cheaper, and you'll get -alot- more out of it. Then, once you've established a love for the series, go out and buy the anime.
Heck, I'm buying everything LH I can get my hands on [All 6 DVDs, the Christmas Special, the Spring Special when it comes out in March 03, and the 3 OVAS when they come out, as well as the remaining 3-5 (can't remember) mangas].
The plot has more originality than most people are giving it credit. Sure, the fanservice 'one guy surrounded by multitudes of girls' may seem a little tedious, but LH offers a fresh twist to that. You'll find yourself rooting for that little spineless baka and Naru [at least in my case] to finally fess up to each other.
Actually, in my opinion, the anime is a little dry on humour. If you're looking for more laughs, again the manga is for you. I definately recommend you try this anime/manga, and I hope you get as much pleasure out of it as I do. [No, it's -not- a 'guy' anime. I'm a 14 year old female perfectly normal anime otaku] With that, I leave you, and remember...Tama-chan is watching...

Summary: A great DVD, but......
Review: This DVD cotains the first four episodes of the 25-episode series titled "Love Hina" This is a very good series, and I highly recommend it to people who are fans of "Tenchi Muyo" and "Hand Maid May" Although, I do have one complaint. The English dub is lacking seriously....That's why I rate it 4 stars. If the dub where better, however, I would rate it 5 stars. Kitsune's voice is too much for me too handle (too country, I guess) and Su's is too loud and makes my ears hurt. Keitaro's voice is done by the same person that does Ken in Digimon, and Motoko's is done by the same person that does Izzy's voice in Digimon! Keitaro sounds dopey. Motoko's isn't much better. Naru, well, Naru's voice could have been better. Shinobu's is okay, but she sounds a bit too childish. That is why I perfer it in Japanese with English subtitles. Now, let's move on to the other things. The cover features Naru and Keitaro. The poses do not suit the characters. Naru is not always mad, and Keitaro doesn't have to look like that. Overall, I give the packaging a A-. Let's talk about the episodes. The episodes are really good and funny, especially the one when Shinobu is moving. It's so sad that she doesn't want to move. I guess you're probably wanting me to give you a summary, eh? Well, here ya go! 20-year-old Keitaro Urashima is trying to get into the most prestigious university in Japan. It's called Tokyo U. The reason he's trying to get in, is because of a promise he made with a little girl 15 years ago, when he was 5. He's trying everything to fulfill that promise. Unfortunately, he can't remember anything about the girl, except that promise. He's also on the urge of failing his entrance exam for the 3rd time! After a dream (or nightmare, I should call it) about being re-united with this girl, he wakes up. While he's brushing his teeth, his mother is talking to him about his grades. She tells him that they can't keep feeding him forever, so he says he'll get a part-time job. The telephone is ringing, and it's his Grandma Hina from the Hinata Apartments. She is retiring from being the manager, and has chosen Keitaro to take her place. The residents are shocked that she is leaving. At Keitaro's prepatory school, he's standing there, daydreaming that he passed the entrance exam, and everyone wants to shake his hands. He starts shaking everybody hands, and then he touches a girl's hand (the girl is Naru.) Keitaro's friends Haitani and Shirai come up with the exam results, and tell him that he scored 27th from the bottom (or top, can't remember), and that 3 months from now, they'll all be three-time losers. Naru and Keitaro both say:"Three-time losers?" And Naru tells Keitaro to let go of her hand and says:"What if your grades are contagious?" Keitaro lets go, and Naru falls. She stands up, and punches him, all the way to the other side of the building. She walks off, and then Keitaro asks his friends for some money. But they refuse to. So, he goes to the Hinata Apartments. When he gets there, he goes into the wrong bath (it's the women's bath), and has an encounter with Naru. Then he finds out that the Hinata Apartments is an all-girls dorm. The girls cannot accept him as their new manager! Then, in episode 2, we get introduced to 14-year-old Shinobu Maehara, who is always getting picked on at school. Her parents are going to divorce, which will mean she'll have to move. Her mother is closing her resturant, so everything is going wrong in her life! In the end, she ends up living at the Hinata Apartments. In episode 3, we get introduced to Motoko Aoyama, a 16-year-old "man-hating" swordswoman. She refuses to accept Keitaro as the new manager. Meanwhile, she challenges him to the duel. Everytime she has an encounter with him, her heart pounds. She thinks it is her first love. Is it? You have to buy this DVD and watch it to find out! In episode 4, Keitaro and Naru take their entrance exams. Keitaro fails his for the 3rd time, and Naru fails hers for the 1st time. Before they take the exams, Keitaro thinks that the hole in Naru's floor which is above his room (the one Motoko thought was a peephole) is a big problem, so he decides to cover it up. He trips, and some of the books in Naru's bookshelf fall off (including her diary) He tries to put Naru's diary back up, but it won't go in. Instead, it falls onto the floor, and opens. Keitaro can't help but read it. It has words such as:"15 years ago. Promise. Trying. Reason." Does this mean Naru is the girl Keitaro made his promise to? When Keitaro finds out he didn't make it, he runs away. When he comes inside to get his things, Shinobu thinks he's a burgular, and he gets into all sorts of trouble. So, everybody goes out looking for him, when they realize he's missing. But no one can find him. Naru finds him, standing outside of Tokyo U. It's snowing, so they have to carry umbrellas. Keitaro insists that since he read Naru's diary, it would only be fair if he read some of his diary to her. She refuses, but he does it anyway. Naru sticks her hand up in the air, and it's bigger than Tokyo U. She tells Keitaro that it's not as hard as he thinks to get into Tokyo U. Will Keitaro make it into Tokyo U later in the series? This DVD was awesome! I highly recommend it. Love Hina has got to be my most favorite anime series. Buy this DVD today! If you don't, you don't know what you're missing!

Review: Hi, my name is Sara, and I am 12 years old. I do not own a DVD player, but my friend has let me watch all the Love Hina DVDs she owns. She owns all 6 volumes, plus the Christmas Movie. The english dub is very bad, that is why I perfer it in Japanese with English subtitles. 15 years ago, Keitaro Urashima made a promise with a little girl that when they both grow up, they'll go to Toudai (Tokyo U) together. When he grows up, he forgets everything about the girl, except the promise. Unfortunately, he won't get into Toudai after failing his entrance exams 2 times! After having a strange dream about be re-united with his "girlfriend", he wakes up to find that the phone is ringing. It's his Grandpa Hina from the Hinata Apartments. She is retiring, and asked Keitaro to be the new manager. When he arrives, he sees a sign for a hot springs bath in the apartments, and decides to bathe. When a young lady steps into the bath (who is Naru Narusegawa), he finds out he went into the women's bath, and the Hinata Lodge (old name) Has been turned into an All-girl dorm! Naru chases him out of the bath, and so does Mitsune "Kitsune" Konno. Kaolla Su is playing with toy tanks, and chases him outside, where everybody else is. Earlier, Motoko Aoyama went on a retreat. Keitaro is still wearing a towel, when his so called "Aunt Haruka arrives" Keitaro is going to tell him that he's not a Toudai student, but Haruka keeps talking, so they suspect he is one. He doesn't feel right about lying. A few minutes after all that happens, Naru finds out he was lying. In episode 2, we get introduced to 14-year-old Shinobu Maehara, who is a great cook, and has moved into the Hinata Apartments, seeing as her parents were getting divorced, and she wanted to stay at the Apartments. In episode 3, we get to learn more about "swordswomen" 15-year-old Motoko Aoyama, who will not except Keitaro as the manager, and seems to think he is a "stalker" Episode 4 is about Keitaro and Naru taking their college entrance exams, and Keitaro fails his (for the 3rd time) and Naru fails her (for the first time!) Keitaro decides that he can't keep failing, so he packs his stuff, and leaves the Hinata Apartments, But when he is packing, Shinobu thinks he's a burglar, and he gets into all sorts of trouble. They go out looking for him, and Naru finds him standing outside of the Toudai building. (It's snowing, so you can imagine how cold it must be standing outside like that) Naru sticks her hand out, and it's bigger than Toudai, and she tells Keitaro that it's not as hard as he thinks to get into Toudai.
