Summary: The series gets better and better!
Review: This is the Sailor Moon Series that fans have been waiting for. Of the four TV series arc (Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon R, Sailor Moon S and Sailor Moon Super S), Sailor Moon S is finally out and on DVD!!! What is so special about this series? Well, it's not only because we have the introductions of the new sailor senshi scouts but also near the end of the series, it becomes SERIOUS. The battles become intense and blows the previous two series away in terms of what you have seen from Sailor Moon before. I was lucky to see this when it was out in Japan and I am happy to see it out in the US for fans in Japanese with subtitles and um...English dubbed. Just wait until Pluto and especially the other Senshi (secret!) comes to play a part in this anime TV series. The second DVD volume continues the storyline of the girls trying to pass their exams but they start to focus a bit more on Uranus and Neptune and why they are cold to the other Sailor Senshi. By episode 12-13, things now begin to get serious but things get very serious near the end. Anyway, don't expect great quality for anime since this is an anime TV series not a movie or OAV. It was really good during it's time years ago and the paintings are marvelous but it's not sharp because it's a TV series (lower budget than movies). So, this is the episode 90-127 storyline arc (episode 98-103). There are 37 episodes total for the series and 6 episodes on this DVD. As for special features, well there are hardly any. A gallery with hardly anything and a profile of Sailor Jupiter and a karaoke ending and textless opening. Check it out!

Summary: Very Enjoyable Series But With Some Problems
Review: This is the third Sailor Moon series. It's about teenaged girls with magical powers who fight evil forces that threaten the world. In the S series, they fight humans who have been possessed by demons and forced to steal people's pure hearts in order to bring their master, Pharoah 90, into our universe. The Outer Senshi were introduced in this series: Uranus, Neptune, Saturn, and Pluto (though she had appeared in a few episodes of the R series). They're awesome. The original Japanese version is the best (more mature), but the English dub is also provided. Apparently, Cloverway had dubbed all of the dialogue, so you'll be able to hear English lines on here that you hadn't heard on Cartoon Network. Still, the English dub is censored and dumbed down. It's also incredibly inconsistent. Attack names (and even some transformation phrases) constantly change. Names of important objects in the series change also. Amara (Haruka) and Michelle (Michiru) are turned into "cousins", and that "fact" is constantly shoved down our throats. Still, listening to the English audio track while watching the uncensored video will provide some (unintended) laughs. I recommend watching an episode in Japanese with English subtitles first and then watching it in English. It's like getting two different series - 12-14 episodes per disc instead of 6-7. I do have some complaints. First, they used only the final version of the opening theme for all of the episodes. In the original, the new characters were added to the theme over the course of the series as they were introduced. On these DVDs, characters that haven't appeared in episodes yet are in the opening theme. That is not the way it originally aired, and it ruins the surprises. Also, on my computer monitor, there's a fuzzy line at the top of the screen during the opening theme in every episode. That means that the theme was spliced in. Were they too lazy to put the English credits over each version of the opening theme? Why did they have to put English credits there at all, anyway? They could have put them in the closing credits. I don't like the new English voice actors for Moon, Mercury, and Venus, but at least the original Mars is back! I also like Rini's new voice actor. I still think that Rini's an annoying character, though. The next episode previews were not included. The only extras are profiles on some of the Senshi/Scouts and some of the earlier opening themes from the S series. The DVD covers are reversible, so you can pick your favorite characters to be displayed. All in all, these 38 (or 76) episodes form a great story and are worth buying.

Summary: Even better than vol. 1!
Review: This is volume 2 of 6 In this volume, the action gets better, and the Sailor Senshi themselves are targets. The last two episodes on the DVD involve Usagi being targeted for her heart crystal, and include a great deal of drama. (and Haruka hits on her!) Anyway, the picture quality is much better than a tape's, and the sound is pretty good too. The only real annoyance are the subtitles. Their yellow color makes them hard to read unless you're sitting up and fairly close to the TV. Still, this is a pretty good DVD for a Sailor Moon fan, but later volumes are much better.

Summary: Sailor Moon S series DVDs - good overall
Review: [You people have a weird habit. You vote bad on my good reviews, and good on my bad reviews. Is it brain damage? If you have brain damage, you shouldn't be a review critic.] For those of you who don't know, Sailor Moon is an anime series about a group of girls with the ability to transform into warriors so that they can battle the forces of evil. It sounds like something that's been done to death, but this series pulls it off nicely. Each episode of the series contains a good deal of dramatic action, with some comedy thrown in to make the series a bit more appealing. Originally it was intended for pre-teenage girls in Japan, but it has drawn in fans from many age groups and nationalities. The series began airing in America as early as 1995, but the episodes were horribly edited, and the dialogue was butchered. The poor time slot didn't help things ever, and eventually it vanished without a trace, until it was picked up by the Cartoon Network, which aired several new episodes, but these suffered the same flaws as their early North American predecessors. But at long last, Pioneer has created the solution to the problem - DVDs of the series, in all their original uncut glory. And what better place to start releasing DVDs than the S Saga, which was by far the best set of episodes? Now on to the DVD itself. You get 6 episodes, which you can view in English or Japanese (if you choose the latter, subtitles have been provided.) There are also some minor extras, such as a gallery with info on Sailor Jupiter. In the episodes, they even left in the eyecatcher sequences!Unfortunately, these DVDs have some flaws. First and foremost, lack of extras. These character galleries are pretty cool, but I would've liked to see something like interviews with people who worked on the series. Also, THE INTRO IS WRONG! The S Series has three intros, and this is the third one. It should be the second one (In the second intro, Sailor Chibi Moon does not appear.) USING THE WRONG INTRO SPOILS SOME SURPRISES! In addition, the next episode previews are not here (though oddly enough, the daily episode previews are.) Overall this is an excellent DVD release for an excellent anime series. Contrary to popular belief, THIS DVD IS NOT OVERPRICED. It is slightly longer than most standard episode DVDs, so the slght price increase shouldn't be a problem. Fans of the original uncut Sailor Moon series, I strongly recommend you buy this item.
