Summary: Must get Dragon Ball movie if you're a really good fan
Review: Even though it's not out yet, I think it will be a great movie, even though it will have scenes from the series on it. You would know if you've seen Curse of the Blood Rubies. It shows Bulma running into Goku and sends him flying with his fish. So, in conclusion, if you're a super Dragon Ball/Z/GT fan, this will be a good one!!!!!!

Summary: A Re-Telling of one of the Best anime around
Review: I've always loved Dragonball, i was very excited when this came out, and when i bought it I was very confused and yet happy with what I saw, let me explain. I hope you have seen Dragonball the series before getting this dvd.

The Story itself has been changed. Goku meets people in a different order in a different place and such. For example, you may remember Goku meets Olong in a village, while in this dvd he finds him in the desert. As the movie goes on more and more stuff changes, soon your no longer looking at Dragonball, but at a whole new story altogether. this was both sad (being this is a DRAGONBALL remake, but also great that a new story was made)

The art was updated, looks more Dragonball GT'ish, then the older looking Dragonball art. This of course was great, and very nice looking.

The audio is great, the voices in both english and japanese were nice, and the sound quality was good.

the visuals were somewhat bad. At some times there were scratches in the film (minor, but you'll see them). I was hopeing they could fix this, but they didn't.

The dvd itself is ok. The menu is plain but nice, the extra's unfortunatly are just Trailers and Character Bios.

All together I rate the dvd 8/10. I suggest picking this up if you like Dragonball. I do NOT suggest getting this if your new or have never seen dragonball, because this really chages the story ALOT. Enjoy!

Summary: Its a revised version of goku's dragonball saga.
Review: There's nothing here of Goku's origin that a die hard fan hasn't seen before in one general form or another but the story is well done. Goku's origin has been revised and simplified. This revised saga is exciting and the script is very tight. The animation is GREAT!, far superior to typical dragonball animation. It is truly a movie that is animated. The camera angles used, pans and shots are just like a live movie. I really enjoyed this movie.

Summary: Strange...but neat.
Review: To be honest, I'm not exactly sure what to rate this film. There were some really good parts and some really bizarre parts. I suppose I'll just start from the beginning.

As far as I know, this film was made to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the anime (it started in 1986, and this film was made in 1996). Basically (in a way) it sort of re-tells how Goku met Bulma and re-tells the adventures which occured in the anime.

Strangely enough, chronologically, the stuff that happens in the film is completely different than the anime/manga. That's what's really strange about it, really. I guess I really didn't like how they re-told the Dragon Ball story. Anybody new to the series who sees this will be utterly confused. Those with more experience with the show and those who have seen the entire Dragon Ball series may think differently, however.

I'll have to say that I like the "updated" Toriyama designs. Instead of looking like the original designs, they've been somewhat redrawn to look more like they did in Dragon Ball Z. I thought that was cool. I also really liked the animation sequences. The intense battle scenes were cool.

I didn't like how anti-climactic the ending was, either. I'm not going to say exactly what happened, but right when I thought the film was reaching a climax, it just ends, which peeves me a little. Why? I spent a lot of money on this item, and now I'm not so sure if I want to keep it.

Personally, if you have no idea whether you want this movie, you should rent it first. Perhaps I'll watch it a few more times before I make my final decision whether I want to keep it or not, but to me, this "re-telling" of Dragon Ball is just strange and confusing to me.
