Summary: Would someone please tell David Hess his is not scary.....
Review: Very rearly does a villan come along that just knocks us on our back and scares the hell out of us, Hanabil Lechter, Norman Bates, etc. David Hess, of Last House On THe Left and other horror movie fame is agian trying desperatly to show us just how mean and scary he is. The movie is about a murdering loony, played by Hess, and his slow witted side kick who go to a party thorwn by rich, upper class snobs and terrorizes them. Just like Hitch-hike and Last House. The movie doesn't cover new ground but the real proble is it just shows you how bad movies can be. The plot is weak, the acting is bad, the story moves at a snails pace and the twist ending is just plain to proposterouse for anyone over the age of ten to find interesting. For some unknown reason David Hess plays the villan is this movie and the other I mentioned. I can never ubnderstand just what people saw in him to make me belive he is a good bad guy. As an actor I can't say if he's good or bad becouse this is the only type of movie I have ever seen him in. I heard he's quite a good singer. Good, at least he has somthing to fall back on. The movie never realy seemed to have any intention of giving us our money worth. At this time a lot of movies were beinmg made like this and it just seemed like they were trying to show us enough gore and skin to make us forget that the movie we are watching sucks. It didn't work.

Summary: Have too be buzzed movie!
Review: What else could you say about this movie. It starts off with a rape scene and the rest of the movie from there is the same with two thugs going to a stuck-up party. Though a setup for them, they get out of hand, sex occurs and they get killed. You must watch this movie buzzed get get a feel for it. But if your into movies like this, I suggest the movie " I spit on your grave", it's more graphic.

Summary: Gives exploitation films a bad name
Review: You know a movie is awful when a sick and twisted rapist is the least annoying character in the film. House on the Edge of the Park may not be the worst movie in the world, but it comes pretty close. It's an exploitation film with no redeeming values whatsoever, and I for one do not like the fact that it is sometimes passed off as a horror film. The action opens with a man forcing a woman's car off the road, then raping and killing her. Then we follow a young couple taking a shortcut through town on their way to a little get-together with friends. When the engine starts sounding a little funny, they end up at a parking deck which is somehow also supposed to be a garage, and none other than our rapist Alex (played pretty convincingly by David Hess) happens to be the guy in charge. He and his mentally challenged buddy invite themselves along to the "party" and end up terrorizing, beating up, and raping a group of smarmy rich kids. There is really nothing too graphic about any of it, and I can't really see why the UK forbids this movie in its complete form from being sold there. It's disturbing and rather sick, but I've seen worse. What makes it so bad in this case is the fact that it goes on for over an hour. The moviemakers try to sneak in a little surprise at the end, but this final plot point borders on the ludicrous and does little to explain many facets of the whole ordeal. I do not oppose this type of exploitation movie on principle; House on the Edge of the Park is just a very, very bad movie.

Summary: David Hess: Sleazeball Extraordinaire!
Review: You might want to soak yourself in the tub for a good hour or so after watching this. This film isn't as graphic as I was expecting, but it's graphic enough to get under your skin. You cannot find a better actor to portray this leading character than David Hess. Talk about the sleaziest and creepiest looking actor on the planet! It's no wonder he can't escape these kinds of roles. Almost every film you see him in, he's beating or terrorizing some woman(even in Wes Craven's Swamp Thing, where even though it's rated PG, he still can't escape being the same character!). This film is kinda long winded and slow moving, but it never loses you. There are numerous near-rapes in the film; So many in fact, that you almost become desensitized to them and lose track in your mind of who's been raped and who hasn't, who came close and so on. Hess and Radice plan on going out "boogeying", but end up invited to a get together that quickly turns into the ultimate power trip for Hess. This film could have been a pretty terrifying psychological study on sociopathic behavior and the terror of a hostage situation, but the film is so sleazy and juvenile with the subject matter that you can't accept it as anything but pure exploitation. The extremely long and tedious interview with David Hess is interesting. He's certainly a charcter in real life. Giovanni Radice? No comment, watch the interview. So, I'd say rent it before you purchase(don't follow in my footsteps). And here's a first for me: This is the only film I know of where the trailer is more entertaining than the film itself!
