Summary: Abysmal......Not fit for a lobotomized rhesus monkey!
Review: What do you get when you put hideous, generic character designs, horribly integrated computer graphics, and a dull, contrived, fragmentary, utterly hackneyed "plot" together? Why, you get BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE, of course!

The moment this horrid movie began, I sincerely regretted my rental. First and foremost, the computer graphics are awful! A few months ago, I was hearing about the movie's "eye candy," and how those who attended advance screenings were blown away by it. Now that I have wasted 45 minutes of my life on this cinematic atrocity, I can safely say that the proper term is "eye poison," and that the astounded reviewers must have been given complimentary horse tranquilizers before the so-called "movie" started. The CG, which is flat and ugly even by itself, looks even worse when joined with the equally-stale hand-drawn artwork. The total effect was quite jarring; I have not seen an anime movie in recent years that was so visually lifeless.

The artwork is not only poor in execution, but also in design. The creators are obviously trying to cater to an American audience with the Western comic book-influenced character designs--sheer folly, considering that the denizens of main-stream Western comics' airbrushed pages are among the ugliest drawn characters in existence. Ironically, the ugliest character in the movie is the main protagonist herself. Take Angelina Jolie's obscene-looking puffy lips and paste them on the dull, emotionless form of dark, American "comix" cliche, and you have Saya.

Let's not forget about that story! In effect, there is none. There is only a severly-abridged, collagen-injected amalgamation of SPAWN and BLADE (neither of which were very good) where the plot should be. Get this: Saya is an "original" (the name somehow seems highly inappropriate), a surly, young-looking vampire-woman who hunts down vampires with a *get this* very special katana. She belongs to a clandestine vampire-hunting organization whose other members carry only pistols, despite the almost complete ineffectiveness of those weapons against vampires. The plot "picks up" when Saya is sent to investigate vampire activity at a school near an American military base.

For those of you who have seen anime originally dubbed or poorly redubbed in English, you know what to expect. The dialogue is forced and strange-sounding, and sometimes even nonsensical. There's also some awkward cursing, obviously intended to add to the movie's "mature" aspect.

I could write another lengthy paragraph about the rotten music, but I'll stop here. The bottom line is this: Don't waste your time with this movie! Watch something good, like a Studio Ghibli film, or something.

Summary: I love it...
Review: But i had to be honest with my review. Blood:TLV has it's fair share of problems. First we have length the movie clocks in at about 45 minutes, that is definetly not enough. The animation is stunning, visualy there are no complaints. The plotline revolves around a military base in Japan just before the Vietnam war, in the military compound are vampires so the american goverment sends in a secret weapon: Saya, the last original. The last original what?? It is never explained, just like many other "plot points" in this "movie" things are never explained. The "plot" is just an excuse to have 20 minutes of non-stop action. The acting is very peculiar the american characters speak english and the japanese characters speak japanese(with subtitles). The acting is decent EXCEPT for the teacher who is a horrible actress. Overall i love this movie but i really can't recommend it, unless you are an anime fan. EP

Summary: Everyone who rated this title under a 3 is [silly]
Review: Honestly, people who review this movie are expecting either a feature film to compare to something they're familiar with in the anime genre (Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, Akira...etc....). Come on people, it's literally a 50 min movie, how much plot explanation and hardcore action can you expect in 50 min without the movie making no sense at all. It'd be ridiculous. So what one has to do is regard as a part of a OVA series, or part of a series in general and accept that some things will be left for the human mind to interpret (after all as humans we were given the ability to think and contemplate), and some parts of the plot may not be fully explained (only 50 min), and the action may not kick off as much as other popular titles (ninja scroll...etc). But all in all, one must regard this film with an open mind, not expecting or comparing to other titles they've seen. Once you're able to do that, you're truly able to enjoy the film.

Summary: The Best animation I have ever seen
Review: Although the story is great in this anime, this is not why I love it so much, the animation in this movie, (a combination of 2D Animation and 3D CGI) Totally floored me! Amazing to watch, you can see the loving, hard, work in every frame of animation. Disney has not done anything that can touch the animation in this. And as far as total likeability, I prefer the animation in this to even Square and Pixar films!

The *only* shortcoming (pun heh heh) is that the movie is SHORT its only about 40 minutes, and really... You want MORE!

As for the DVD its pretty...good, fantastic anamorphic transfer with no visible artifacts and a kick ... Dolby Digital 5.1 Soundtrack. Very nice viewing...

Summary: Don't.
Review: Two words- TOO SHORT.
I sat there for fourty minutes, waiting for the build up that never came. It just left me hanging, my first thought was "That's it? It's over?"

Tha main character is almost likable... almost. There is no drama, only short action scenes that looked cool but you don't care about. The plot line is weak, settings are irrelevant and have no effects on the story whatsoever.

When you missed 1. Character-driven story 2. Pure entertainment 3. Great plots, what do you have left? Nothing of course, just some pretty pictures. Perhaps if it was longer, they could make it work.

I decided to give it a try because the DVD mentioned "Ghost In The Shell". Well, big mistake, this didn't even come close to the level of GITS. In sum, I don't recommand it.

Summary: got to be one of the best anime features ever, so LAY OFF!!!
Review: I can't believe all the horribly negative reviews there have been on this title! I know there are positives too, but I saw way more "1 star" ratings than should ever exist. Blood the Last Vampire, while being very short, has an involving plot, and beautiful animation that will grab you and pull you into the surreal story. Sure, Blood obviously doesn't feel a need to explain itself in detail by any means, but that is what makes it so attractive. You are left to answer the numerous questions that arise with your own thoughts and assumptions. You may feel as confused as poor Nurse from start to finish, but I believe this was probably what the creators intended. In short, Blood is a piece of artwork, and should be treated that way - you should go in with an open mind, and form your own idea of what it all means. In the end, that's why I, and I'm sure many others, love it so - no one can interpret it for you. Of course, that was what I just did for you, now wasn't it. Just buy the movie! At the very least, the DVD insert makes for a great anime still...
(oh, and for all those out there who hate it because there's "no story", maybe you should learn japanese and go read the Blood novel. geez, at least do some research on the movie so you can better appreciate/comprehend it instead of writing idiotic, 2 sentence reviews talking about how much it sucks. how's that for a review? ::pulls down eyelid and sticks out tongue::)

Summary: Very disappointing!
Review: I am only giving it one star because I can't give it fewer than that! I was so happy when I actually managed to find this at my local video store - but I really wish I hadn't. The story has a lot of holes, there is no real plot, and the action sequences, if that's what you can call them, leave a lot to be desired. I'd opt for something more like Vampire Hunter D.

Summary: Excellent standards
Review: Although I haven't reviewed the DVD's yet I received Blood: The Last Vampire on August 16th.....DVD got here quickly within a 6 day period which was enjoyable...The case of the dvd was a little scratched up but nothing that bad.....Booklet inside was bent a bit with a large ammount of finer prints at the bent parts.....DVD was in near flawless condition except for a few extremely minor scratches.....But I'll wait till I watch it to check that one out...=P...

Summary: Is there enough blood for this moral story?
Review: My friend and I saw and reviewed this movie in the back of the DVD pack and was excited to see it. After watching this awesome-filled horror and mystery including unique characters especially the demon-slayer vampire filled with great graphics and sound, we were a little dissapointed due to lack of running time and the shortage of the story. It felt like an hour of watching this astounding movie, but I do understand how a lot of work is paid off to this great movie. However, I sure hope there is another sequel connecting to this movie, but I kinda doubt it. To those of you who like vampires, demons, and blood, I would recommend you to only rent it unless you want to own it.

Summary: One great film
Review: I was surprised when I saw this movie because I didn't expect this kind of graphics. The plot in this one is some kind of Buffy the vampire slayer but in Japan. I didn't give 5 star because the movie is too short and it let waiting for more.
