Summary: I LOVE InuYasha!
Review: I've only seen two of the episodes on this tape ( Seekers of the Sacred Jewel and The Girl Who Overcame Time and The Boy Who Was Just Overcome) and i'm looking forward to "Down the Rabbit Hole and Back Again". the only thing that i think is strange about that episode is that Kagome looks like Kikyo...seriously. Anyway, i've seen a lot of the new episodes, my favorite being "The Secret of the Jewel of Four Souls", which i saw in New York. InuYasha has plenty of characters that you've probably seen in other animes (the Japanese school girl, the demon hunter, and the demon who's trying to take over the world) and plenty of new ones(the half demon who wants to become a full demon, the ...monk) some of these come later in the series, some are there from the begining, and that's all i have to say. can't wait for the next episode!

Summary: Inuyasha rules
Review: This is undoubtably the best anime series ever. I love all the action-packed fighting scenes as well as the advanced relationsips between the main characters. My fave characters are Sango and Miroku, although they're not on this DVD. The only reason I gave it less than 5 stars is I think they should include more than 3 eps per DVD.

Summary: Love the show
Review: i don't have this DVD ( i want it) but i have been following the series for awhile now (from the episode Naraku and Sesshoumaru join forces... or maybe a little bit before. i'm not sure) and so i haven't seen a lot of the earlier episodes... until someone slipped up and put in the tape for " The Girl Who Overcame Time and The Boy Who Was Just Overcome", the first episode, instead of the one i expected to see, which was " The Man Who Fell In Love With Kagome". anyway, i really liked the first episode, although some lines show how not to americanize a japanese anime (in other words, " Toto, I don't think we're in Tokyo anymore")
the rest of it was good and the ending theme just sort of stuck with me...i've been playing it over and over again in my head. The demon who drags Kagome down the well in the first place is also well done. i'm sort of half-hoping they'll put Seekers of the Sacred Jewel in tonight since i've never seen them use Sit, but aside from that i'm looking forward to getting the three DVDs that are out in America ( this one, A Girls Best Friend, and the newest one, Fathers and Sons.) and as they say at the end of each episode, See ya soon!

Summary: Pretty Good for a Dubbed Anime
Review: I am a big fan of Inuyasha, I was very happy to see that it was being brought to the US and was excited to see how they rescripted the series. I have to say I was somewhat dissappointed with the beginning episodes but they do a much better job with the later scripts. The biggest dissappointment was the new voice talent, I am so used to the original talent that I found the new characters to be a bit juvenile. All in all though for people just getting into the series this is an excellent beginning. I highly recommnd it to someone who is looking to watch the series from the beginning.

Review: All right, first things first. Inuyasha is a great anime, personally, its my favorite. Although some of the best characters don't appear till much later in the series. Inuyasha has a good balance between humor, drama, horror, angst, and romance, but nothing too mushy (remember, this IS a Takahashi series) Inuyasha is also much different from her other works, don't expect as much twisted romance (but Inuyasha defiantly has some.) I would say that Inuyasha is more along the lines of Takahshi's "mermaid saga" then Ranma. All and all Inuyasha is defiantly enjoyable, and worth buying. But, there's always a problem. And Inuyashas greatest flaw is the dub. Personally I hate dubs, and Inuyashas was no exception. Richard Cox id a farley well job but don't even get me started on Kagome, her voice doesn't fit the character at all, she sounds to young if you ask me. AND her command "Sit" has been changed to "Sit boy.) Also the dubs script was changed. (Not much, but defiantly not as good as the original.) Plus, defiantly not as much swearing! ^.^ But besides the English version, Inuyasha is defiantly worth buying! Rumiko Takahashi is a goddess!

Summary: Finally, I can see the first episodes!
Review: I've been watching Inu Yasha with my daughter here in Japan for some time now, but I never saw the first season, so it's great to be able to get the DVDs now, especially since they have English subtitles. Oh, I need to qualify those 5 stars: Five stars for the Japanese soundtrack/English subtitle setting; Three stars for the default English dub setting. The English dubbing is terrible! But that's OK--set it for Japanese voice/English subs, and it's great. The subtitle translation is not bad at all--it really helps me, as I still can't keep up with some of the high-speed, idiomatic Japanese. (The dub's translation is very inferior--why do they want to try to Americanize the characters' speech? I'm sure very few of the audience members want that.) Since I came to Japan, I've gotten tired of most anime. I used to be a total fan when I lived in the US and could only see a little now and then, but here, it's like being able to eat your favorite food, all the time, morning, noon, and night...it starts getting tiresome. But Inu Yasha is one of the few anime I still enjoy watching every week.

Summary: bad dub, but great sub
Review: The story of Inuyasha is gripping - there's action, romance, tragedy and bad guys you love to hate. It's also good for all ages, as the action will keep youngsters entertained and the deeper elements of the plot, along with the romance, will appeal to older audiences. The only gripe I have about the DVD, and the only reason it didn't get 5 stars, is because of the dub quality. I'm an equal opportunity anime lover - I have no real preference as to subbed or dubbed, some shows I like one way, others I prefer the other. I first watched Inuyasha fansubbed, and was very eager to see the dub. I was *very* disappointed. There seemed to be an amazing lack of emotion in many of the characters - Kikyou especially - and I couldn't get over the feeling they were just reading straight from script, not 'acting', as it were. Inuyasha wasn't too bad, but he came of as more of a pissy teenager than a rough and tumble, short-tempered half demon. The Shakespearean dialect for Kaede and the villagers - who waver between the dialect and speaking normally and thus throw off the continuity of the whole deal, was really hard to swallow as well. There seemed to be a number of discrepancies in the translation as well. I can pick out enough Japanese to understand the gist of most conversation, and there were a number of places where the translations weren't even *close* to what was being said. It wasn't even a matter of the concept being untranslatable - they just dubbed it as something *completely* different. There are also a number of weird...I'm not sure what to call them - 'Americanisms?' that just...did not fit. 'Toto, I don't think we're in Tokoyo anymore?' My god in heaven, what's *that*?! All that aside, the storyline is wonderful, and the anime is one of my favorites. However, I will be watching it subtitled, and not dubbed, from here on out. I like my characters believable and emotional - makes it so much easier to get into the series.
