Review: Do not buy this unless you want a horrible memory of DBGT! Funimation did the worst job I have even seen bringing a Anime to America, First the cut out the 1st 15 episodes of DBGT, then they changed all of the music and the opening to some trash Rock/Rap. And the voice acting is horrible. 3 years ago I downloaded Super5's Sub DBGT's of the japanese series, and it was the best anime I had ever seen. It was the best Dragon Ball series. But when Funimation came out with this Id have to say its the worst Anime. The music on the origanals was so good, I just loved the opening theme with the animation. And now they have crap cuts from the show that make it look bad. If you want to watch DBGT how it was ment to be seen search "Super5" on your fav p2p software.Its breaking the law, but you may never see it in your life. But only buy this if you want some crap that will leave bad memorys of the end of the Dragon Ball saga

Summary: WARNING: FUNIMATION RUINED THIS SERIES!!!
Review: Don't misunderstand; I really enjoyed this series in it's original Japanese version, and was bummed when I finally watched the last episode. My only comfort was that the English translation might be more coherent than the fansub mess that I own now...
This series - Dragonball Grand Tour - begins with Goku training a teenage Buu in Heaven. Things get bad quickly though when Emporer Pilaf and his minions, not seen since the original Dragon Ball series, manage to sneak in and grab the Black Star Dragon Balls hidden in Heaven. Of course, he wants to wish for world domination, but when Goku shows up he naturally loses his temper and wishes Goku to be a kid again (by accident).
Although Goku doesn't mind being reverted to childhood (unlike his wife Chi-Chi), he soon finds out that unless he finds the Black Star Dragon Balls - which can be anywhere in the galaxy - the Earth will be destroyed. And so it begins.
Funimation RUINED this series in so many ways I can't even think straight: They totally ignore the first reunion between Goku and Pan -AND- Goku's hilarious kidnapping. Even worse, they begin the series already on the Metal Mutant planet being attacked by Dr. Mirus minions using first 10 episodes as flashback fodder! This type of butchering only continues throughout the series.
Worst of all, they replaced the upbeat opening songs (which could have easily been translated) with some lame rap loop. MY GOD!!!
If you can't tell already, I love anime. I'm glad I didn't get rid of my fansubs, as this garbage is so sub-par I can't stand to talk about it anymore.
Buyer (and fans of DB) beware.

Review: For those of you like me who went out and bought this tape and saw the first episode on it and was thoroughly disappointed with it because of the "butcher" job they did on it, don't get too upset. That first episode "A Grand Problem" is not Episode 1 of the English language series. According to the FAQ on the official DBGT website, "A Grand Problem" is a "primer" episode that is meant to provide some exposition to what has happened in the series up to that point (about the 16th episode of the Japanese series). FUNimation was aware that Japanese audiences considered the first part of DBGT to be the weakest part of the series, so to generate strong interest in the beginning for the U.S. release, FUNimation mostly skipped over the first 16 episodes.
So when will the actual beginning of DBGT be released in the U.S. in its entirety? It's hard to say, but hardcore Dragon Ball fans rest assured, according to FUNimation, it will be released someday.

Summary: Room to grow
Review: FUNimation announced long ago that it was starting in the middle of things with DBGT, making a composite of the first dozen or so episodes for the initial release with plans to release the full episodes later on. Those first episodes, as someone else said, were hated in Japan. So much so that, even after changing gears, the show never fully recovered and was cancelled far sooner than its forerunners. So FUNimation, for better or worse, decided to kick start the show this way. "Affliction," the foundation for the last tales of Dragon Ball, borrows much thematically from the later DBZ sagas. What still disappoint are the new character designs (GT picks up 10 years later, but Trunks looks younger in GT than he did at the end of DBZ) and even with the edits, one senses the real story won't begin till the gang gets back to Earth. Overall, the first DVD does what it needs to do, introduces us and sets up for the wild action to come that DB fans expect.

Summary: It's true: FUNIMATION IS GREEDY
Review: Funimation is a greedy company that gouges fans for money. The dub stinks. Even under Saban, they at least hired professional voice actors. But ever since Funimation hired those *random* people, dubs have been incredibly subpar. Characters have scratchy, annoying, grunty, constipation induced voices. They are so stingy, that they make one guy do the voices of over 10 characters. They expect us to pay more, despite their miserly cheap production. And the music is bad. Did you know the guy Funimation hired to make the American DBZ music originally wrote stuff for Discovery Channel? What a complete 180. The only reason Funimation chose these people is because they live close to Funimation headquarters. They all live in Texas so it would be more convenient for Funimation. For what these DVD's contain, they aren't worth the price. I'm glad it has Japanese audio and subtitles, but still, even with those "features" (they should be *requisities* in this day and age) they charge too much.

Review: I watched this volume of Dragonball GT last night. I have to say that it is all right. They did skip around the first 15 episodes and condensed them to one edited episode. This DVD has four episodes, but the first one is edited english only. That is the episode that condenses the first 15 episodes. The other three episodes are english uncut and original japanese, but they start around episode 16 or so.
GT was different at the begining. Funimation wants to appeal to the fans that like the action that Dragonball Z had. This can be seen in the opening sequence for the english version. It focus on the super saiyans and the future villans. The english theme song is not very good, but the japanes theme song is execellent.
The english version is all right except that they skipped the first 15 episodes or so. They did this on purpose. They did it to get striaght to the action to appeal to the DBZ fans. I think this was a mistake. I did hear a rumor that they are just skipping these episoeds temporaley. They might release them later, but even if they do they probaley won't air on cartoon network.
This DVD is great if you are willing to start with episode 16 or so and to have a extremely edited begging to explain the basic story. I am pretty sure that the rest of GT should be intact at least on the DVDs.
There is a chance they might release the uncut first 15 episodes at some point, but until then I will collect the uncut DVDs of the episodes that they do offer.
Funimation is correcting some of there editing mistakes. I am pretty sure they are working on uncut english versions of the first two seasons of DBZ and maybe they will do the same for DBGT. Until then I will take what I can get.

Summary: Dragonball GT: Vol #1 Affliction
Review: If Im wrong here then I apologize but I am very disappointed after I got my first US Dragonball GT dvd. I popped the dvd in my player and much to my suprise the series did not start off like the original Japanese version did. The Japanese version starts off with Goku and Ubb training and Pilaf wishes Goku to a child again. Well in the first dvd of the US release it starts off with Goku and Trunks captured by Rild and Pan is trying to rescue them. Well according to the Japanese release, the US release started off with Episode 17 not Episode1. If this is a mistake by Funimation then please fix the problem. If you intended this then I will not be purchasing the rest of the series as you have already ruined it. I am a Dragonball fan and this has really disappointed me, I can only hope this is a mistake. I really look forward to seeing the rest of the seies in the US release.

Review: If you ever see my angery review on this DVD/video I am deeply sorry. Anyway I'm going to review it better because I felt bad I was mad like that.....:) anyway lets start! Music English: Scary. Unless you like RAP..which I like but this music sounds like DBGT is a horror movie. It doesnt fit with it. Sounds: Normal. Averge. Nothing special. Voices: Pan's voice is squeaky...oh well. Trunks' voice is a little too dull at times. I like Goku's though. ^_^ (thats it....oh and the other voices are...-_-) ~WARNING~: The 'Z-gang' is back and guess what...NO Vegeta.(till later LATER episodes) NO Piccolo. NO Krillin. NO Gohan.(WAHHHH!!!!) NO Goten.(WAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!)Only Pan,Trunks,and Goku! How sad is that? Anyway
NOT EVEN MASTER ROISHI!(That good for nothing pervert!) GOOD POINTS OF SERIES: Well,their is actually a PLOT. Which to me is something new! BAD POINTS OF SERIES: They shouldnt have made another series. It was time for it to die...I mean it had to die someday! Even if the ending of DBZ sucked,this series ruins Dragon Ball/Z for life. Like throwing paint on a 'master piece'. It can never be removed without ruining the whole thing....plus the characters were zombies and DBZ's old plots ended up in here too....similarities of sagas! I mean: Baby saga=Cell saga
Android 17 saga=Android saga Plus their are too many fight scenes...to me I wish it would have ended a long time ago.... ~~~~~~~~~
