Summary: Excellent SCI-FI Movie
Review: I thought this was an excellent movie. The story was unique and not overplayed like most movies today. The action sequences and special effects are unbelievable! I highly recommend this movie, there is not a single person I know that didn't love it. The only way you could give this movie a bad review is if you didn't understand it (or your one of them). Can't wait until the next one...

Summary: I am intrigued and I want the rabbit hole to go deeper...
Review: I don't know how anybody could slate this film at all. Not only is it a sci-fi masterpiece, but for me is an incredibly thought-provoking film. Credit's where it's due - the Wachowski Brothers have really excelled themselves, and they haven't been in this kind of 'business' for that long! I doubt they will surpass themselves again with any other of their efforts, the only chance of doing that would be The Matrix 2 (a really interesting concept). I apologise to those who disagree strongly, but in short I believe The Matrix is the greatest film ever made.

Summary: The BEST Sci-Fi Movie I've Ever Seen!
Review: Even though I love movies of every shape and size, I never thought of myself as the type to gush dramatically over a flick. But let me tell you--the Matrix literally made me drool!

I've read some of the other reviews here at Amazon, and I'm so surprised by the poor reviews. I'm sure we all agree that Keanu Reeves is not the best actor on the planet. I like some of his movies, and dislike others. Yet I cannot imagine any other actor in the role of Neo. He was perfect! He and the rest of the cast were ... words cannot describe. What a movie! What a concept! I've never seen anything like it!!

I especially liked the still/moving action sequences--and the kung fu fighting scenes. What an ending!!!! I loved walking out of the theater excited, thinking about how Neo stopped those bullets, and talking about this great movie with my husband on the way home in the car. How could any science fiction lover not be absolutely mesmerized by this movie?

Summary: Original plot, incredible displays of effects, excellent
Review: This movie is a MUST SEE TWICE film. Your first viewing is good, but you really don't get it until you see it again. Fishburne does an incredible job of being 100% of the personality in this flick. The other actors are mostly scenery. The special effects are truly incredible and the music works well. The only frightening part is the sense of immortality you have when you finish and feel confident that you know how to do jujitsu, karate, and kung fu. Also, the desensitization to violence throughout the movie is disturbing.

Summary: Amazing, Great, I Loved It, I Give It a High Five
Review: This movie was fantastic, I saw it first day first show and almost no one was in the theatre, this shows you that almost no one was waiting in line because of MTV. I don't even watch MTV, the special effects are absolutley amazing it would take the academy award if it was not for star wars. The sound is amazing to, since sound is 50 percent of the movie this plays a very important role, it would win best sound to if it wasn't for Star Wars. All these reviewers that hate this movie do not know what they are talking about. Sure you might not go to this movie because of its drama, or because of the romance, if you want pure adrenaline pumping action and non stop thrills see this movie, if you don't trust me rent it when it comes out you'll see. I have been watching movies all my life and yes The Matrix copy's off of many other sci-fi, action and kung-fu movies but it does not try to hide it. The Matrix takes all the elements of all the great action, sci-fi and kung-fu movies and splices them together and it does it seemlesly. See this movie, it blew me away from opening to end, I saw it six times in the theatre, it got better every time. It will blow you away too.

P.S. Look for the GIANT BUNNIES on the television at the oracles house.

Summary: Science Fiction with a soundtrack and setting worth the $8.
Review: Look - I no great Reeves fan. However, the movie actually has a plot that requires you to think (unlike ID4 or Phantom). It doesn't leave you hanging at all (like "Blair" - a horror flick I know) and it almost out Woos John Woo himself for action. The hype may have let some down. But if you went to see the movie with an open mind, you come out impressively suprised and happy (same with Starship Troopers). It was worth the $8 bucks a few times over and will be on my self in DVD as soon as it hits.

Summary: WHAT A RIDE!!!!!!!
Review: "The Matrix" was the Spring's biggest blockbuster. If you watch, or already have watched the film, you can see why. 1. The Special F/X are great. Since this film takes place inside a computer-like world (the matrix) stunts can happen in there like no other movie has ever shown before. The scene where the helicopter crashes into the building is a standout. 2. The script is good. It makes sense when you pay attention to it. Even though the film may have slow parts, you don't even realize they're gone so fast. 3.The actors. 4.The freeze-frame is liked by the audience. (as seen in the Gap Khakis commercial) The audience definately got a big kick out of this film. I know I did, and I can't wait for it to come out on DVD! Reserve your copy today, and see what everyone's been talking about.

Summary: Not an original movie, but worthwhile seeing.
Review: No it wasn't the most original ground breaking film of all time. But was that really what "The Matrix" was aiming for?

I am a great fan of Cyberpunk literature, Hong Kong films and Japanese anime. I felt that "The Matrix" borrowed heavily from these genres. But I also felt that this movie was an entertaining two hour synthesis of all of those genres.

Two more points worth mentioning: I hate Keanu's wooden "whoa" acting as much as the next guy. But I didn't mind him in this.

The thing about human batteries was tenuous... really weak.

Summary: Best Movie of the 1990's
Review: One word: Whoa. This movie blew me away! It is by far the best movie of 1999 and, as a personal favorite, on my top 5 list. To me, this movie was the perfect combination of Eastern thought and Western Society. To understand this movie, you must have incredible knowledge not only of computers, but also of Eastern thought. Reaching spiritual Enlightenment would be like being "Unplugged" from the Matrix. By reaching Enlightenment, you come to realize that the whole world and everything in it is an illusion. You come to realize that "There is no spoon." Not everyone can reach Enlightenment, much like how not everyone could be informed that the Matrix exists, as we saw in Neo's skepticism in the beginning and Cypher's inability to handle what he knows. In 1993, Keanu Reeves starred in a movie that I think helped prepare him for the Matrix. The movie was called Little Buddha. It is the story of a young boy from Seattle who finds out that he is a reincarnated Tibetan Lama. He, several Lamas, and his father travel to Nepal and find out that two other children exist who are also believed to be reincarnations of the same Lama. This movie also features the story of the Buddha and his journey to Enlightenment. Keanu Reeves plays a wealthy Prince Siddhartha, who has no knowledge of the outside world. He begins to get glimpses and feelings of the world that surrounds him, and decides to leave his Kingdom, Father, Wife and child to find out what is in the real world. He reaches Enlightenment while sitting under a Bodhi tree, which is where the name of the famous Bodhi Tree Bookstore in Los Angeles comes from. Had Reeves not played this role as the Buddha, I don't think that he would have been as knowledgeable about Eastern thought. After I saw the movie, I thought, "What if this was real? Our lives would be controlled and mean absolutely nothing and our bodies would be nothing more than a Duracell battery." I felt much the same way after I saw The Truman Show. Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne both play incredible roles in this movie. The Matrix is both of their best, by far. Agent Smith was also incredible. Something about his performance blew me away, even though I have no idea what it was. I think this movie excels at combining Buddhism, modern technology, computers and so much more. I saw this movie 2 times and my father did 3 times. I will definitely buy it when it comes out on video. I strongly recommend it for anybody that wants to experience this ultimate thrill-ride!

Summary: BORING
Review: This was the second worst movie i saw this summer (the first was Austin Powers)the acting sucked and there was no plot. The effects were very good, but that does not make a good movie and some things were too fantastic like how can 20 guys can shoot 1000 bullets at the same time at Keanu Reeves and still miss? I recomend The Phantom Menace instead.
