Summary: The Rock Tries Too Hard, Leaving Out Cold in the Desert
Review: No one would have guessed that The Rock would come back into Hollywood and take on a leading role. Lucky for him, his "excellent" acting skills brought him right where he belongs, into a huge, dirty dumpster. Writer Stephen Sommers, who directed "The Mummy" and "The Mummy Returns", has been hit on the head with something very hard, making him do stupid things. For one thing, writing "The Scorpion King" script. This film is nothing more than another "Spice World" or "Monkeybone".

"The Scorpion King" is set 5,000 years ago in the city of Gomorrah, where an evil ruler is determined to lay waste to all the nomadic peoples of the desert. The few remaining tribes, have to unite or perish. Knowing their enemy relies on the visions of a sorcerer, they hire an assassin, Mathayus (The Rock), to eliminate the visionary. After infiltrating the enemy camp, Mathayus discovers that the sorcerer is in fact a beautiful woman (Kelly Hu). Rather than eliminate her, he takes her deep into the desert, knowing that the ruler's henchmen will stop at nothing to rescue her and bring her back. Seriously wounded in the ensuing battle, Mathayus must find the strength to lead his band of allies back to Gomorrah for a final fight.

Those who would dislike the movie are unlikely to attend it (does anybody go to see The Rock in "The Scorpion King" by accident?). The best special effects in the film are the ones that keep maiden's breasts covered. The movie has been poorly made and will not make much money, that's a done deal. I can't believe I actually paid...to see this piece of junk. Do the world a favor and don't waste your money.

Summary: Save Your Money and Run Very Far Away From This Movie!
Review: When a person tells me:"Dude this movie ... but it's got nice babes in it," I sorta get the idea that I am in for a smorgasbord of special effects, lots of skinny, overly atheletic, celliod breasted, barely twenty year old girls running around with hardly anything on, and some big oaf decapitating moronic non-English speaking enemies ... You know there was a time when I was into movies like that but I guess since I am older and forgive me: an intelligent human being, I just didn't go for this movie. In fact I absolutely hated it!
Where do I start. Well now, I am not overly Afrocentric but as I understand it, Eyptians were not Europeans with extremely bad tans, and Nubians were the darkiest people on the face of the earth and still are. Hollywood history is fuzzy if not totally false. And what's with white guy being the bad guy? I mean really that wasn't predictable. And the plot, hell why do movies need plots these days? Plots only confused people and make them think and Hollywood doesn't like it when people think too much. This movie is very bad if you want substance in movie, if you don't want to feel dirty and dumb after sitting down for a thankfully short movie staring a wrestler and some other chick and a whole gaggle of [dolts]. ...

Summary: 3.5GOOD & QUICK
Review: Not quite worhty of 4 stars-The Mummy Returns spinoff -is for the most part a quick moving ,loud action adventure movie. In only 88 minutes the last of the Arcanians slices & dices his way too become the Scorpion King.
When Maythus is hired too rid the land of a Wicked King and Sorcer .He excepts the job. When he reach the kingdom he learns quickly that the sorcer is real a sorcess.Beging a short movie it is not long before he is able too kidnap her ,inorder too lure the king out of the city. They become close-she has a change of heart -and aids in the king's down fall.
From start too finish there is always something going on too keep you watching.Even when there is a break in the action. For guys there are lots of half dressed women -for women- lots of shirtless guys. Also lets not forget the fem fatals in the final fight sequence:along with Maythus' promise too run a peacefull kingdom-veiwers of the Mummy Returns knows where thats going.SCORPION KING 2 THE DOWN FALL anyone????

Summary: Can You Smell What The ROCK is COOOOKIIIIIIIIIINNNNGGG...???
Review: O.K. Here we go. "The Scorpion King", is by far this years best thriller/action/comedy/drama's of the year. I actually laughed, because I am not used to seeing "THE ROCK" being romantic or very dramatic. It was a shocking experience, but put together well. The Scorpion King(SK) had all that I was expeciting throughout the entire movie. The opening surely grabbed your attention. I couldn't get rid of the smirk on my face for a long time. I was overwhelmed at the amount of action involved.

The Rock did a Great Job with this character, because he played it differently from the character he plays on WWF. I actually expected to find him stop in the middle of a fight, and say, "Can You Smell What The Rock Is Cooking", or atleast see him pull of some wrestling moves similar to his wrestling character. In all actuality, that did not happen. I am very relieved to find that out. Dwayne Johnson (The Rock)has put himself on the market to show that he can do more than just wrestle, he can act. He did such a great job with this movie, that he can be called this New Century's Action Hero. He is a mixture of that Arnold(Terminator), Sylvester(Rambo), and a mixture of the Jackie(Mr. Nice Guy), and Jet(The One). I can't wait to see what happens next! I'm sure that this is not Dwayne's last movie experience, and I hope not.

I am not looking at this as one of his wrestling fans, because I lost interest in it ever sense WWF moved to TNN, and WCW left for good. So, I am not relating him as much to wrestling as he is by other critics. There was another aspect to this movie that made it a great quality. The Comedy!... There was endless humor in this movie, and it only got funnier. Throughout the whole movie, there was a constant flow of energy happening, that made you want to be sitting so far on the edge of your seat, that made you practically fall of every 10 seconds.

All in all, this movie is a must see. Watch It, PLEASE!... I also am expecting the release of a few other movies. Suggestions are as follows.... Star Wars Episode II....watch! Reign Of FIRE...watch!!! Jason X....maybe!? Spiderman...maybe!? ... Men In Black II...a must see!!! Austin Powers 3...if you like the series....DEFINETLY!... There are alot more....but they are either too new...or just not good at all. (in MY opinion) Catch Me later....and e-mail me for any quesions. ENJOY!...

Summary: Beter than expected!
Review: Not only will this film gross approximately $180 billion dollars (because of the combined Mummy fans and WWF fans), but it actually ain't half bad.
It's not as good as "The Mummy," but better than "The Mummy Returns." The Rock (obviously) stars as the title character, a hired assassin used by a remote tribe to assassinate a sorceress, who is imperative in an army led by the evil Memnon's success. After a couple of brutal plot twists (okay, maybe not brutal; this film is more about action than plot) Mattheus (as he is called in the film) turns to the forces of good, as does the sorceress.
Michael Clarke Duncan offers the film's best performance as Balthazar, the leader of the remote tribe (his performance echoes his gentle giant from "The Green Mile"), and The Rock does very well in his acting debut. Some of his delivery was difficult to watch, but he was very good at the physicality aspect of acting - he knows how to evoke emotions with movement.
Chuck Russell, who is a low-budget director, also does wonders with the SFX of the film (especially a particular scene involving The Rock, the comic relief sidekick, sand, and fire ants). Russell is one of Hollywood's few remaining visionary directors - his credits include the superior "Nightmare on Elm Street 3", "The Mask" and "Eraser."
If you're looking for a challenging film, avoid this. However, it isn't likely that other popcorn films will be better this summer. Definitely worth a ticket.

Summary: Girls, don't even bother...
Review: This movie was blatently and tastelessly aimed at the male genitalia and ego, and although I had the suspicious it would be so, I didn't think it would get as bad as it did. I should have ran away when the Rock first made his grand entrance by scaring off a whole building of people by whispering "boo." The main characters were very attractive (both the Rock and the sorceress), but take my word for it, it's the kind of movie to rent (when it is no longer a new release), and only when there is nothing else to rent. And whatever you do, don't think for a second this is going to be anything like Mummy and the Mummy Returns.

Summary: This movie [stunk]
Review: The acting was bad, the plot was horrible, the action was horrendous, and it was just trying to be another remake of Conan the Barbarian. Save your money and buy Conan the Barbarian instead if you want some sword/dagger action.

I am only giving this moive 2 stars because of the girl, who is HOT.

Summary: I don't know what these others are talkin about
Review: ... This movie was great! It had comedy, action/adventure, and romance all in one. Plus The Rock was the best pick for The Scorpion King. I recommend this movie to everyone.

Summary: Great movie with lots of cool fighting scenes!
Review: I really liked this movie! There were a lot of great fighting sequences. Nice soundtrack, too.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not as good as The Mummy, but still...
Review: The Scorpion King boils down to one thing...fights. Lots and lots of fights. And while The Rock does a nice job as Mathyas (aka The Scorpion King), he does need the support of the actors around him. The movie does, however, give viwers the chance to see who the Scorpion King was prior to selling his soul to Anubis in The Mummy Returns. The story is decent, and the type of comedy that prevailed throughout the two previous Mummy movies is present here as well. The movie also left itself wide open for a sequel, so more Mathyas is probably on its way.
