Summary: Nothing Fatal about this DVD except....
Review: Errors...This DVD has the worst sound quality that you can imagine. I had to turn up the volume to 64 just to hear it. Then the picture freezes until the DVD skips chapters and shuts off. Its too bad as this is a classic that even though has a very bad storyline with bad comedy should still be in the collectors stock. I had to return 2 copies and get a credit. Avoid this Ground Zero blunder.

Summary: Sleeper with shocking climax...
Review: This dvd, released in conjuction with the Wu-Tang clan comes complete with introduction by Wu-Tang's RZA, Wu-Tang music video AND, gee wiz, trailers consisting of strippers and people making up bags of marijuana. RZA even goes as far as to say "get your trees, and your 4.0..." when introducing the video. NOT EVERYONE WHO ENJOYS KUNG FU MOVIES IS A POT HEAD. I find it very annoying that I can't even get a decent quality DVD copy of a movie without having to listen to this. (and yes, I am a young person).Having gotten that out of the way, the quality of the trailers, video and introduction are better than the actual movie, which is in full screen format. The quality is better than most of the releases by this company; the picture wasn't as fuzzy and the sound was fair enough. The story is about a Shaolin Monk who runs afoul of the white haired Ching villain, Shaking Eagle, a formidable Kung Fu Master with an electric shock eagle's claw technique. The Monk is a saved from death by two bumbling, good natured friends who live together (one of whom is Tung Wei), and proceeds to teach them his Kung Fu in one of the worst training sequences I have ever witnessed. The film plods along and is pretty boring until two thirds of the way in, when the love interest of Tung Wei's friend is raped and murdered, and he carries her home crying in a truly heartbreaking scene, then later his horrific screams of anguish as he.... well, I don't want to spoil one of the only good parts of the film. There isn't much fighting in this film, and what there is of it, is pretty bad, that is until the end fight sequence, which is well choreographed, exciting, and full of unique moves and postures that the rest of the film sorely lacks. This film is really a keeper just for the end of the movie, which more than makes up for the boredom of the first half of it.

Summary: What do you expect?
Review: This is about what you would expect from a 1981 low budget film. The story is lacking a bit and the comedy is lousy. The fighting is good, which makes it worth buying. I was disappointed with the audio/video quality. One channel of the audio is out of phase with the other which makes it hard to hear. By flipping the + & - wires on the back of one of the speakers fixes it. The video looks like RZA hooked up his K-mart blue light special VCR to a DVD burner and hit record. This movie is obviously aimed at Wu-tang clan fans, but it's worth checking out if you're a Kung-fu buff.
