Summary: Non Stop Action
Review: This brings no stop action during the whole movie. It has the action of predator vs. alien vs. terminator vs. robocop vs. the road warrior. If you like action movies, you'll love this one. One of John Woo's best films

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Unbelievable......
Review: Chow Yun Fat is definitely one of the greatest actor of all-time. He is the "Asian" James Bond. The Killer, without a doubt rate among the Top 5 movies of all-time with its action packed scenes and typical Asian moral values. Chow Yun Fat delivers again with his slick cool Asian character. John Woo is the director...what an Unearthly Combination !!!

Summary: One of the greatest of all time Action Flicks
Review: This is one of the greatest action movies of all time. It combines a well thought out story line with action sceens that resemble more a choreographed dance than a gun fight. After seeing this one film, I have sought out more of John Woo's films and they have caused my to raise my standards to what an action film should be. If you love this film, and I know you will, then you will definitely want to checkout "Once a Theif"(Asian verison..not the remake) and his other very popular "Hard Boiled". Definitle worth the effort of finding these films and others by John Woo with all time great film star Chow Yun Fat.

Summary: Fat's Phatest!
Review: Yikes what a movie! Loved the combo buddy-film get-the-bad-guy schtick--complete with Extra Violence. Somehow, the Chinese dialogue makes it that much more exciting.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An incredible piece of work, a true action masterpiece.
Review: This film is amazing. John Woo makes action like no other director on the planet. With his groundbreaking techniques in editing, slow mo, and signature "Wooisms," he's created another ballet of bullets for us to enjoy. Energetic, thoughtful, and sentimental (but not too sentimental) this film makes for an extrodinary time. END

Summary: John Woo & Chow Yun Fat...nuff said!
Review: The Killer is the perfect example of cinema in its most powerful form. Expression...every bullet, every conversation & every scene just flows so beautifully & expressively it just blows me away. Unexplainable. Very deep & mythological story, unlike anything ive ever seen! U just have to see it. & see it. It will make u think to yourself, "what the hell is the average Hollywood budget gettin wasted on?? Promotion!!?? " John Woo on the other hand does not need $100,000,000 to truley express himself, hell, he doesn't even need the highest quality celluloid to make his films stunningly beatiful.. The Killer is no exception, John Woo is such a masterful director, no wonder why Hollywood have been ripping him off long before they invited him to join 'em!
& unlike most action films of mindless "invincibilty" plots & stupid reasons for massive shootouts, this has a cause for every piece of stunningly choerographed action...& consequences to join the equation.
If youve only seen Chow Yun Fat in his American films (Replacement Killers & Bulletproof Monk e.t.c), you really havent his true styles & capabilities. Get THE KILLER, & youll know why Hollywood have copied J.Woo's style of genius direction more times than a photo-copier has copied paper!
This is John Woo at his purest form, & Chow in his true style.
The John Woo & Chow Yun Fat combo is like the Sergio Leone & Clint Eastwood combo= Classics!
Get this if u like a deep, moving story, awesome acting, & action that sychronizes perfectly. (Also check out other J. Woo classics, Hard Boiled, A Better Tommorow 1 & 2, & Bullet in the Head!)
.....Nobody does action like Honk Kong...Nobody does Honk Kong like John Woo...

Summary: John Woo's Best Film! A Masterpiece!
Review: Many fans and critics often name "Hard Boiled" to be John Woo's best film. While that high-charged action classic is excellent as well, not to mention essential viewing, "The Killer" ranks slightly higher. It's all in the details...

The deceptively simple story involves a hit man (Chow Yun-Fat), a cop, and a beautiful nightclub singer who was blinded during a botched assassination attempt. The plot concerns the hit man's attempt to pay for the nightclub singer's cornea operation. However, it is much more complicated and nuanced than that. This is really a powerful story about loyalty, pride, and friendship.

Director John Woo has recently made it big in Hollywood, having directed "Mission Impossible II" and "Face/Off". And while these later films are great, they don't compare to Woo's earlier, more mature work. "The Killer" not only has an intelligent and engrossing plot, but also features action scenes that are among Woo's absolute best. Sprinkled throughout the film are set pieces that are so outrageous and thrilling that they practically make American action films seem tame in comparison.

Woo uses impressive stunts, camera tricks, and excellent directing to make these action sequences come alive, and boy do they ever. The action scenes in the film range from impressive, to over-the-top genius. The opening shoot-out at the nightclub catches the viewer off guard and the final battle at the church is so extreme that you won't believe what you're seeing. It's also important to note that this film is extremely violent. In fact, it originally received an X-Rating because of its excessive bloodletting. "The Killer" is very realistic and gruesome in its portrayal of violence. This film is anything but subtle (expect to see the body count rise to over 100 onscreen shootings).

However, this film is not just about blood and gunfire (although there's plenty of that). Repeated viewings reveal just how great the directing is. You can definitely see John Woo's influences in those Film Noir films of the 40s and 50s. Much attention is given to atmosphere and light, and the film is rich in poetic symbolism (a dove extinguishing a candle after a character has been shot). John Woo uses every scene to his advantage, turning "The Killer" into a work of art. One particularly impressive scene features the hit man and the cop having a conversation at a secluded river. The dialogue these two men have is nothing short of brilliant, and the scene is so well crafted that it gets better and better every time you see it. If at all possible, make sure you see the film in WIDESCREEN to experience the film the way it was meant to be.

"The Killer" is simply John Woo's best film, and has recently become a popular cult-classic. Combining a great plot, rich atmosphere, and breathtaking action sequences, John Woo creates a Neo-Noir masterpiece.

Summary: John Woo's Masterpiece...The Killer
Review: This is no doulbt one of the best films I've seen so far in 05', this film has superb characters, a great storyline and loads of great action! This film is simply amazing. This has got to be Chow yun Fats greatest film ever! The only problem i had with this film was the sad tragic ending that is upon our 3 main characters. This film is amazing and it doesn't have a pretty ending at all. So far I've seen 2 of Woo's films, Bullet in the Head and this and I must say he rules when it comes to action film.

The Killer is a Deffinite KILLER...

4.6 out of 5..

Summary: Oh My God...
Review: If you think Action movies are mindless good guy-bad guy confrontations, then watch this movie and your stereotypical views will be shattered. Even though I'm only a North American and maybe can't appreciate this movie on the same level that Asians can, this movie really touched something inside me, though I can't relaly describe it. Maybe it was the poor singer who was blinded and the way the cold-blooded assassin cares for her or the friendship that develops between the cop and the killer, but this movie hit me hard. I have watched this movie numerous times and it is the only film that continues to get repeat viewings on my DVD player. You have to see this movie, it is a classic.
Peace
