Summary: When your cable has been shut off...
Review: ...you rent movies. Sometimes you let your boyfriend pick one out. He felt pretty bad about this one, at first, but I reassured him I was thoroughly enjoying it, only lamenting that we had not altered our consciousness beforehand. This movie is SO BAD that it's hilarious...I don't think many Mexicans were actually involved in the making of this film, and it's a miracle that it was actually made into a film. Actually quite fast paced, but really as silly as can be. Bring your own brownies.

Summary: give me more Vincent Klyn movies!!!
Review: 5--This title gets 5 stars. i enjoy B-rated movies, movies that are in the same category as John Carpenter's flick They Live. sure Mexican Blow isn't the best movie on the planet in the HISTORY of movies, but THAT--that element right there--is what makes it cool to watch. also, Vincent Klyn is frickin hot. this here lady thinks he's a cool actor. i have several of his movies on dvd other than this one; Cyborg, Gangland, Red Surf, Point Break. and the list is growing. i think Night of the Comet should be available on dvd from the great company of Amazon. anyway, 5 STARS for Mexican Blow!!! for shizzle my thizzle. Vincent Rules!:)

Summary: Deceptive superhero nonsense
Review: I gotta learn to stop judging a DVD by its cover. The cover and title of this DVD implies that this is a movie about the international drug trade, a la "Traffic." In reality, this is a covert, low-budget Superhero flick. The protagonist's name, Dreadmon, even sounds like he should be wearing a cape. In this movie, a hidden Mexican indigenous tribe must be saved against drug dealers who are trying to expand their territory. This is where the Dreadmon character comes in. I liked that the good guys are a mix of Black-Latino-and Native American. Plus, the sidekick is a blonde white woman, thus encouraging racial and gender diversity. Still, the special effects are TERRIBLE. The antagonism between Dreadmon and his lifelong nemesis is anticlimactic. The script is bad. Dreadmon is supposed to be a half Black-half Native orphan in rural Mexico, yet he knows about the East Asian concept of yin and yang!? The hottest guy in the film is the only man who never takes his shirt off. York usually does "street" movies for older teenagers and young adults. But this film, despite brief nudity and some sexual content, must have been intended for the junior high crowd and younger. Further, York Entertainment did not mention that it has Spanish subtitles for this DVD and I think many potential audiences members with low English proficiency will miss out because of it.
