Summary: Relax, I'll call someone! Who?! A ... snakecharmer!
Review: This is my "favorite" movie/story next to NBK's By writer/director Quentin Tarantino flick altogether! Between the characters dialogue & personalities, as well as their behavior given the situation(a heist/ambush, gone crazy) bodes for an amusing(to say the least)gangster flick with a great cast. Harvey Keitel,Chris Penn,Michael Madsen,Tim Roth,Steve Buscemi,Lawrence Tierney as well as Tarintino himself! If you've seen Tarintinos other films but for whatever reason haven't seen this go rent it now!!! The anniversary special editions are loaded with features(interviews comentarys) as well as as a few deleted scences like Mr White & Nice Guy Eddie arguing, while driving back to the warehouse(with Mr Pink & the loot to meet Joe & some alternate angles of the infamous "ear shot"!!!

Summary: GREAT FILM, BUT PICTURE ON SPECIAL EDITION IS TERRIBLE
Review: The picture quality of this new special edition DVD is soft to the point that it looks like the film has been exposed to light. The sound is fine, yet - like a previous reviewer - I found myself constantly fiddling with the colour, contrast and brightness buttons. And to no avail.

Of the 250 plus DVDs in my collection this print of Reservoir Dogs easily rates as one of the worst three. You have been warned.

Summary: Meaning and Violence, Forced Together
Review: Reservoir Dogs is violence, crime, death, mayhem, loyalty, all wrapped into one twisted package. This is not some round a bout look at crime or the mafia, this is to the wall here is the straight blood and guts. Criminals are bad people, there is no honor in it, there is but violence and money. The world they live in can be humorous, can be social, but it ends, as it usually does, in death or incarceration. That is why Reservoir Dogs is one of the best crime movies ever made.

The story is relatively simple. A cast of professional bank robbers are brought together by a leader of organized crime in order to lift a shipment of Israeli diamonds. They are an eccentric bunch, always entertaining if not loyal or effective. There is the staid Mr. White, played brilliantly by Harvey Keitel. White is a veteran, with a bit of decency running through his professional criminal veins. There is Mr. Blonde, portrayed by the horrifyingly effective Mike Madsen. There is Mr. Pink, embodied in the slight but fervent dialogue of Steve Buscemi. The cast is round out by Mr. Orange and Mr. Brown. Together, they put in motion a perfect plan. Of course, it goes to hell very quickly, and the group of criminals has to make some big decisions. This movie is not an action or thriller movie, it is a dialogue movie. The storyline is carried by the intense interactions between these intense men, who are desperate for a simple way out of their situation. These interactions become even more heated because of the back stabbing element introduced.

Reservoir Dogs is a great movie because of the acting, the story, and the writing. Tarantino is a serious director who does not just rip off other movies. In fact, a lot of people making movies at the present time are just trying to rip him off. Reservoir Dogs is a nice introduction to Tarantino, before experiencing his eclectic masterpiece, Pulp Fiction. Most people remember RD because of some horrifying scenes by the master Madsen. Well, I can't even describe them, you will have to see them yourselves.

Summary: A cinematic triumph
Review: Before Pulp Fiction made him a household name, writer/director Quentin Tarantino shocked Hollywood and critics nationwide with this stunner of a movie. It all starts simple enough; six perfect criminals are brought together by Joe (Lawrence Tierney) and his son Eddie (Chris Penn) to pull a diamond heist. None of the criminals know each other and are assigned color coded aliases: Mr. White (Harvey Keitel), Mr. Orange (Tim Roth), Mr. Blond (Michael Madsen), Mr. Pink (Steve Buscemi), Mr. Blue (Eddie Bunker), and Mr. Brown (Tarantino). But this simple plan goes awry, and the remaining criminals make it back to the hideout and eventually realize that one of them is a rat. Reservoir Dogs shifts back and forth through time to let the viewer the get to know the characters, but Tarantino's true genius is the fact that the film thrives on the characterizations and dialogue which carries Reservoir Dogs to unprecidented heights. Superb performances from everyone involved, especially to Keitel and Buscemi in the beginning of the film, and the last quarter of the film belongs to Tim Roth. The film is violent, no doubt about that, but nowhere as gory as everyone claims it to be. The infamous ear scene (involving Michael Madsen gleefully torturing a cop taken hostage with a razorblade while listening to "Stuck in the Middle With You") is nowhere as graphic as some claim it to be, but it is disturbingly hilarious. The minimal budget only adds to the grittiness of the film, and Tarantino is clearly a writer and director in his element. The new edition DVD's from Artisan (there are five different covers) are lightyears beyond the original Reservoir Dogs DVD; you get two discs (disc one is the film in widescreen while disc 2 is the film in full-screen) and extras including new interviews with Tarantino, Tim Roth, Mike Madsen, and others along with featurettes on the Reservoir Dogs action figures, a tribute to Lawrence Tierney, trailers, and a commentary from Tarantino and co. All in all, Reservoir Dogs is a cinematic triumph and crime noir classic not to be missed.

Summary: Good Dialogue - But Very Graphic!
Review: RESEVOIR DOGS is a film not for the light=hearted of words or definitely not for kids just because of the language. Directed by Quintin Tarentino (Pulp Fiction, Little Nicky) this is a very intense and graphic film. The movie has quite a cast and lot of real dialogue about nothing. But the energy in this film is amazing - as is the dialogue.

I'm not a really big fan of Tarentino's (he even makes a role for imslef in this), with the exception of Pulp Fiction, but this film is unique in the sense it is graphic and violent in a interestingly bizarre way.

It tells the tale of a bank robbery gone bad. It went bad because the robbers where infiltrated by a mole, by a cop who eventually loses everything. The standout performance in this one is Harvey Keitel ( Red Dragon, Little Nicky, The Piano)and Tim Roth (Planet Of The Apes, Pulp Fiction, The Musketeer)

This is not for the whole family and only for those who can get into some graphic violence and language that you would literally only hear in the streets. I liked it but I do have my reservations. (11-26-02)

Summary: Tarantino, A True Genius
Review: This is a great movie and one of the highlights in my collection (and I have quite an extensive collection). Mr. Quentin Tarantino can write dialogue so well. Tarantino makes the audience feel as if the words that are coming from the screen would actually be something a person in that situation would say in real life. Also, I believe Tarantino made an excellent choice in not choosing superstar actors who charge big bucks and the who demand a Star sticker on their door. I know that Harvey Keitel, Steve Buscemi, and Tim Roth were distinguished actors and had done some movies, but they were not superstars, and that what makes part of this movie so good, the acting. By the way, many credit Harvey Keitel for the excellent acting in the movie, but actually, I believe that Tim Roth and Steve Buscemi were absolutely awesome. They are truly great actors. You must buy this movie just to see the bonus features, and hear the director's commentary. In closing, this is a classic but if you want to see something better, rent pulp fiction (another Tarantino classic).

Summary: Bad Script,, Useless Violence
Review: I found the movie rather pointless....the script was definitely canned, it felt like I was watching a play. It never drew me into it, and most of it is set in an empty warehouse, which left nothing but the script to carry it. I also felt they were having blood just for blood's sake....the point of the movie? The cops are [jerks], gangsters are [jerks]---the whole world is full of [jerks]? That's great, Sherlock, how long did it take you to figure that one out?

Summary: Violent, but an interesting take on the male bonding thing.
Review: A violent film that really makes you think,(even though it probably was meant not to), Reservoir Dogs is the directorial debut of famed cult director Quintin Tarrantino. This film only goes to prove that there is definately NO honor among thieves, and shows how demented and sadistic the human mind can be. The film starts out with a constantly circling camera movement through a run-of-the-mill formica table-laden diner. The main subjects: our stars. Their Conversation: Madonna and waitress tipping. Laid back and calm, the beginning falsely advertises the amount of tention and chilling violence that is later to come in Reservoir Dogs. Soon after their casual lunch and stroll through an alley, we are exposed to the real side of the movie. This "real" side starts off with a pale, bleeding, profanity-spewing,and frightened Tim Roth struggling to breath in the backseat of a car, driven by an almost equally frightened, but much cooler, Harvey Keitel. Almost tame compared to the events to come, it is a brutal introduction to the film's actual plot. In the next hour 1/2, we will see a torture scene involving an innocent cop and a straight razor (you will never hear "Stuck in the Middle With You" the same way again), two cops getting shot to pieces in their car, a woman shooting a man at point blank range (with the favor returned), and a Mexican stand-off between 4 guys where every one gets shot. As I said, violent, but not lacking in plot. I have read many reviews saying that Reservoir Dogs is light on the plot, but my oppinion differs. Reservoir Dogs is like several plots rolled into one. We get to see various characters, each with their own little scene that explains their personalities. We can get into the minds of the gangsters, and get to know them all through these little subscenes. Raw acting and good performances all around, I would definately give it 5 stars and recommend it to anyone who can stomach it.

Summary: Do You Know What it's About?
Review: When I first saw this movie, I figured it was about a bunch of these mafia-type guys going around causing trouble. Boy was I surprised! This isn't one for the faint of heart, and it's sheer rawness makes it undeniably great. Myself not being a huge fan of Quentin Tarantino, I expected a mediocre film. Not so. Watch this and experience the cult classic that is Reservoir Dogs.
