Summary: The weak link...
Review: Alien 3 is the weak link in one of the most amazing series of films ever. After James Cameron went to all the trouble of having Newt and Hicks narrowly cheat death in Aliens, why must they die in the opening minutes of the next film? It somehow lessens the experience of Aliens to watch it knowing what happens next. A3 lacks the heart pounding suspense of its predecesors and ultimately leaves the viewer with a dissapointed and drained feeling. On the plus side the imagary is great and as in each of the Alien movies the director (in this case David Fincher) succeeds in taking the series in a fresh and interesting direction.

Summary: What were they thinking?
Review: Exactly. What WERE they thinking? Perhaps they wanted to go back to the genre's original calling - A horror movie. Fine. Then make the film suspenseful. They didn't.

Then make the characters sympathetic. They didn't.

Then make the premise interesting. They didn't.

Instead of spending time making scenes look cool, perhaps they should've spent time making scenes that WERE cool. They didn't.

Unfortunately, the suits in Hollywood made a sequel to this film. Did they learn their lesson with Alien 3? Unfortunately, they didn't.

Summary: disappointing
Review: While this movie may be a decent film in itself, it cannot even be compared to the others in the series. I am an extreme Aliens fan and I was very disappointed by this movie. The creature in this one is supposed to move and act differently (since this time it is born from an animal and thus has animal like qualities) but the computer generated parts are totally obvious and unrealistic. It also does not adhere to the story: aliens do not have eyes, so then why are there scenes shot as if seen through the eyes of the creature? I don't hate this because it lacks guns and marines and stuff like that, i hate it because it was carelessly thrown together. i think someone who had a truer passion for the story of the Alien should have been in charge of this one. But by contrast, the series is SAVED (yes, SAVED) by the 4th movie. Anyone who says the 4th one sucked is obviously not a true Aliens fan. sorry

Summary: A definate Masterpiece
Review: Alien, and Aliens were both extraordinary films. I must agree. But Alien 3 wasn't really a sequal to me. It was more of a story on its own. It concentrated less on the aliens, and more on the human relationships, and the tough time Ripley has endured. Ripley had been out in space for more than 57 years. Close to 60, she has lost everything she ever had, wanted, and dreamt of. Everything she once knew, was gone. Her only hopes of trying to restart her life were destryed with Hicks and Newt. She lands on this prison planet, to encounter her demise. The alien. She wants to get back for all the pain and grief it has cost her. Her whole life was dedicated to trying to get rid of this species, in return in dedicates it life to destroying its one true enemy, her. In the end, she gets her dream, to join her family. She has been out in space, again, for over 57 years, loosing her Husband and Duaghter. She wants them back so much, the she denies the offer to have it removed, just so she can live on, knowing everyhting she has ever had, is gone, because of the alien species. She kills the last of the species, by letting it kill her, she gives it what it deserves. She destroys it, for destroying her. Her dream will live on through the years, until they cloned her, for "it." This film gave the series a touch of Drama, making it one of my favorites of the series.

Summary: The Worst in the series
Review: The first two films were masterful, but the third one is so full of holes that there's nothing solid. Consider this: how could that face hugger (ignoring that it probably couldn't have boarded the space ship to begin with) inject an egg into Ripley, and still be alive? If you remember what they said in the first two, the parasites die after their job is complete. Also, if this thing is alive long enough to impregnate a poor dog on the prison planet, why does the alien burst out of its chest immediatley, promtly grow up, and kill everyone, while the alien inside Ripley dosen't make its appearence unitl the end of the film?

With these complaints aside, the film fails to create suspense. This is because we know Ripley will die after seeing the first shot in the movie. Then the other survivors with her--Newt, Hicks, and Bishop--who you will not want to see die, are killed off at the very beginning. The only people on the planet are convicts in a maximum security pen. With no one to route for, you'll be glad to see the alien eliminate the entire cast.

The creature itself is impressive here, but the concept is essentially a re-hash of the first film, gaining nothing (except cash) from the repetition. As a result, the film is not exciting, scary, or even very interesting. It's only dark, tiring, and depressing.

Review: ok imagian you were in space with a crew of vagabonds [no trainin barely useful weapons] your doin your job and explorin a planet for habitation and you find a small egg so you take it back for study.no idea whats in side or what terror and death it can bring . thats where it all started the very succesful 4 movie series[soon to be 5] the main characcter and only survivor ellen ripley a rambo esque female tough as nails and twice as sharp. these movies have mad a unbelieveable amount of recognition in the movie world many movies up to date try to copy the best but come up short.in the second movie [ALIENS} you will be able to get to know each of the characters before they die that is unlike most sci fi movies this one has more than jus death dont get me wrong there is alot od death and action but each of the characters are explored . these movies have more depth then most movies up to date i believe you should buy this now if not you are gonna be left in the dust . these are the king of sci fi pickem up now or die these are my fav movies i you couldnt tell

Summary: Alien 3: A different turn in the familiar saga
Review: Few film themes manage to survive when sequals follow endlessly. But with Aliens, James Cameron showed that sometimes it it possible. Alien 3 came out in 1992 and was sadly not well received by critics and larger parts of the audiences across the world. This film is as impressive and frightening as its predecessors. Director David Fincher has truly succeeded in creating the same mystic and dark atmosphere as Ridly Scott did in 1979. Still, the reason to why it failed was the weaker script, and not its outstanding visual effects and performances (by Sigourney Weaver and Charles Dutton in particular). The story has Lt. Ripley and her crewmates crashlanding on Fury 161, a maximum security correctional facility. Ellen turns out to be the sole survivor and must once again face her worst nightmare - the Xenomorph. However, in this film she must battle without hitech weapons and trained soldiers. We also get to see a very different-looking alien in action. Yet, this third instalment of the Alien Saga remains a ture classic and shouldnt be missed by sci-fi fans.
