Summary: horrible
Review: one of the worst kurt russell films, and that is saying something. i guess he's just one of those guys you either love or hate. at least this movie's not as bad as escape from l.a.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Ah you know what old Jack says at a time like this!
Review: John Carpenter's Phenomenal Action Fantasy comedy is about
a Truck Driver named " Jack Burton" ( Kurt Russell) who is
in San Francisco and must rescue his best friend's Fiance from
A powerful Chinese Spirit. Entertaining and worth watching again and again, plus it's got good humor and good effects.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This wasn't meant to be taken seriously, people!
Review: This was a great movie on a day when you're hungry for a little comic adventure deep in the bowels of San Francisco Chinatown. It was a funny comic adventure when you need to escape from reality, that's all it has ever been and that's all it ever will be. I hate it when critics talk about a movie such as this like they walked in expecting Casablanca or something. I often wondered after this why Dennis Dun, who plays Wang Chi, a friend of Kurt Russell's character whose finacee is kidnapped by a sorceror who needs to marry her to be able to rule the Universe from beyond the grave, didn't do more in Hollywood, or even more with just John Carpenter. He played a good counterpart to Kurt Russell's Jack Burton, a guy who seemed like he'd seen one John Wayne movie too many, while his friend Wang was the calmer voice of reason. I haven't seen the DVD yet but I plan to and I'm sure it rules!

Summary: One of the Funniest and Best Carpenter`s Films.
Review: When Jack Burton (Kurt Russell), a truck driver goes to San Fransico, to go see His Best Friend (Dennis Dun) and his friend ask him to go with him to pick up his finacee (Suzee Pai) in the Airport but when a gang of Chinese Thugs kidapped his finacee. Now everything is the world of Jack Burton falls apart, when he meets a Ghost named David Lo Pan (James Hong) and Three Demons named Thunder (Carter Wong), Rain (Peter Kwang) and Lighting (James Pax). David needs a woman with green eyes, so he could be live again and married her but he also kidapped another woman (Kim Cattrall), if both woman could pass the test of the Burning Blade. Jack is helping his friend and a tour bus driver (Victor Wang) with his gang of fighters. Have only one choice to Defeat David Lo Pan and His Three Demons.

DVD`s has an sharp anamorphic Widescreen (2.35:1) transfer and An strong DTS 5.1 Surround Sound with two different english audio tracks:Dolby Digital 4.1 Surround Sound and The Original Dolby Stereo 2.0 Surround Sound. The audio commentary track by John Carpenter and Kurt Russell is a Hoot. This film was a Box Office disappointment but it did better on Video and it become a Cult Classic. 2 Disc DVD`s Extras are:A campy music video with Carpenter, Nick Castle and Tommy Lee Wallace. Deleted/Extended Scenes, Trailers and More. A instant Cult Classic. Alternative DVD also has the Pan & Scan Version (also in Widescreen) with the Original Commentary Track as the DVD only extra. Panavision. Grade:A.

Summary: Amazing
Review: This movie has it all. Its a comedy, action, fantasy, kung-fu, action film. Russel is friggen hysterical, and the fight scenes are above average. With an awesome story, you are entertained with good action, and very likable characters. Doesn't get much better than this one.

Summary: How can such a silly movie be so scary and so good?
Review: I have long loved Blazing Saddles by Mel Brooks.
Somehow both of these films set a tone where anything can happen, all rules of logic are thrown out the window, but by the time the credits roll, you somehow end up caring about the characters.
Big Trouble has earned a special edition DVD and makes good use of it. While I would like to have seen more behind the scenes hijinks, (you know with this crew there must have been alot of cracking up on the set) what is on disc is very interesting to see.
This is probably a movie that I will be in the mood to see about once every five years or so, but I'm glad I own it. You never know when some dark and stormy night is going to encourage you to enter the weird wackiness of Jack Burton & company.

Summary: Fantastic !
Review: First of all, I am so pleased this title received a special edition treatment on 2 disc set. As the movie didn't do well during its theatrical run but very popular on home video. The plot is weird, about ancient sorcerer who runs the chinatown and is looking for green eye girls to be sacrificed. But who cares about the plot just sit back and enjoy the fun. The picture transfer is good much better the WS laser disc version (that cost $50 list price back in 1993) but both the DTS and Dolby Digital just OK nowhere near a demonstration quality. Big Trouble in little China is by far the most entertaining movie by John Carpenter in recent memory. Kurt Russel and Kim Cattral are great so is the rest of supporting cast (Dennis Dun, James Hong, Victor Wong).Buy it with confidence. Highly recommended.

Summary: A classic movie WAY ahead of its time!!
Review: You want to talk about a movie ahead of its time? Well look no further. A few years ago people were turned on by Mortal Kombat. Last year people were in awe of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Well guess what? This movie did it all, and it did it 15 years ago!!!! You can see where Mortal Kombat literally ripped off characters from this movie. (Raiden is a clone of one of the characters called Lightning). This movie also had martial artists fighting, both with hands and swords, while flying through the air. Let's give credit where credit is due. Yes those other movies were impressive, but Big Trouble In Little China was there first. You know what this movie has that those others don't? It has a sense of fun, and doesn't take itself seriously for a minute. This is my favorite martial arts movie of all time. John Carpenter's direction has never been more fast paced, or visually impressive. Kurt Russell gives a great straight-man performance as our clueless hero, Jack Burton. The fights are as spectacular, and lightning quick as any martial arts movie ever made. The music, provided by Carpenter, nicely combines rock music with ancient chinese themes. It's got two babes, Kim Cattrall and Suzi Pai, that are very easy on the eyes. And did I mention the fights? Incredible. If you like Crouching Tiger or Mortal Kombat, and what to see a more fun version, and want to see the movie that pulled all their tricks first, see this. It's the best of the bunch. There is NO WAY you won't have fun watching this movie.
