Summary: Kurt Russell's funniest role!!
Review: Kurt Russell is hilarious in this movie. His character Jack Burton is the type of guy who tries to act tougher than he is. Russell is perfect for the role of Burton. This movie is so fun to watch. With Russell's tough guy attitude, the Chinese myths, and all of the martial arts, this movie keeps the interest of the viewer.

This movie is filled with wonderful one liners by Russell and others. Kim Catrall is great as Gracie Law, the object of Burton's affection. It is so funny watching Jack Burton try to act tough to impress Gracie. The action is wonderful too. This is a great movie because it combines great action with great comedy. All I can say is watch it and you'll see.

Review: MOVIE STAR : KURT RUSSELL

MOVIE MAKER : JOHN CARPENTER

I grew up watching this movie aswell as such other Carpenter classics as They Live and The Thing. This is perhaps one of my favorite movies of all time. Very cool flick. Many great memorable movie quotes are abound such as " You people sit tight, hold the fort and keep the home fires burning, and if we're not back by dawn...call the president. " This might be my favorite John Carpenter flick, but my favorite flicks always change around. I always thought this film should have action figures, with all the colorful characters. The special effects are spectacles of movie magic and Carpenter's score aswell as direction are wonderful! The plot is adventurous as the whole movie is!

Summary: Henry Swanson is my name and excitement is my game.
Review: This was the funniest line Russell has ever said when he was at the prostitute den. I've seen this movie so many times. Love the fighting in the air, just like many traditional Chinese movies. Great action and comedy in this movie.

Summary: One of Carpenter's best flicks
Review: Jack Burton (Kurt Russell) is the ultimate parody of the ego-centric adventuer. In the movie, he is a truck driver who gets mixed up in a battle with evil forces in Chinatown.

At the beginning of the movie Jack agrees to go with a friend to pick up the friend's wife-to-be. While at the airport, he meets Gracie Law (Kim Cattrall) who is also there to pick up a friend. Both of the arriving girls are kidnapped by a tong (that's a Chinese gang).

Thrust into the thick of it, Jack finds his nemesis is an ancient Chinese mystic, who needs the blood of a specific kind of woman to keep him from dying. The mystic and his three sons, (characters seemingly straight out of Mortal Kombat, but this movie was first) put up a battle, the outcome of which I will leave for you to see.

Summary: A Pork-Chop Express
Review: We all know Kirt Russel has been around forever. Remember his early work in those Disney films? These days he's more often seen in big budget action films like "Executive Decision". But for me, the best thing he's done is "Big Trouble in Little China". It's unashamedly schmaltzy, lacks any sense of taste and is generally an embarrassment to Hollywood, but I love it.

Russell plays Jack Burton, a man's man who is always in control even when he has no clue as to what is happening. He's tough, loud, stubborn, stupid, fearless and strips down to a T-shirt with a moments notice. Just the sort of guy you'd want by your side when the pillars of heaven shake. But normally you'd find him driving his big rig, the "Pork Chop Express", down some distant hi-way, bragging on his CB and never, ever, driving faster than he can see.

Burton is such a fabulous character that a film entirely set in a bar but featuring Burton's smart-arse wisdom, would probably be spell binding. Instead we see him thrown in with the Chinese underworld. (And while I am referring to organised crime, there is a second meaning.) All jack has to do, with some help from the China-Town community, is rescue two green eyed gals unfortunate enough to have fallen into the clutches of the evil David Lo Pan. Cursed by an emperor and a god, Lo Pan must walk the earth without flesh till he can find a green-eyed woman of suitable spirit to appease Chendai. Sadly, he's been at it for a little over two thousand years and he is starting to get desperate.

One of the green eyed beauties embroiled in Lo Pan's plans, is Gracie Law, played by Kim Cattrall. After a brief meeting at the airport, Jack Falls for Gracie, setting the scene for her subsequent capture and difficult retrieval. Three of the things that make this task so difficult are Lo Pan's primary henchmen, the three storms. Thunder, Rain and Lightning usually work together and combine professional martial arts skills with magical powers.

In fact, if it weren't for Wang Chi, (the fiancé of the other green-eyed lovely), and Egg Shen, (a local sorcerer and part-time tour bus driver), Jack Burton would have little chance against his formidable adversaries. Wang takes care of most of the fighting, aided by the White Tigers and Egg handles the magical angle. Strangely this leave Jack little to do, apart from summing up every situation in a perceptive, manly and pointless manner. Hooray, bring on the giant, hairy monsters.

As with every good fairy tale, things turn out well in the end. Jack and the gang triumph over the age old forces of evil. They do have to cheat a little by drinking superman potion from Egg's "Six Daemon Bag" and there is a romantic twist in the tail but in most ways we see a classic "happily ever after" Finish. Take my word for it though, little about this film is predictable. So grab a copy on video then be prepared for surprises and a feeling of childlike delight.

Summary: pathetic
Review: Im sorry, but when the flying ninjas with huge baskets on their heads started showing up, that was enough for me. This movie has no entertainment value whatsoever. Its movies like this that give good actors like Kurt Russel a bad name. Go ahead, say that this review wasn't helpful, but this is still an awful movie.

Summary: My guilty pleasure.
Review: I've seen this movie more times than I want to admit ever since it came out in the mid-80s. It's a campy sci-fi/action/comedy that is hilarious from start to finish. Kurt Russell plays his part as the swaggering hero to perfection. I never tire of watching it!
