Summary: Atlantis: The Ultimate Underwater Adventure!
Review: I am so thrilled Disney is making this masterpiece of a film, into a 2-disc Collectors DVD Edition. Loaded with extra features!!! I was there to see Atlantis on opening day. A truly amazing animated feature, and the score is simply breathtaking. The visuals are amazing. My fave scene was when Princess Kidagakash was joining the Kings of the Past, in that spectacular "Crystal Chamber", the music was also incredible. A unique, magical, and absolutely extrodinary experience. I can't wait until January 29th!!!

Summary: finally not singing animals!
Review: i saw the movie three times when it was showing. i must say i am very impressed that disney actually made a decent animation that is away from singing animals, objects... etc and actually target not just the kids but adults! unfortunately, i have also seen a japanese animation series named "nadia" - which was aired in japan more than ten years ago - that have many similarity to atlantis. not just teh character design, but plots, actions and scenes! maybe because the two are based on jules verne's "20,000 leagues under the sea"... but come on disney! at least drew the character differently and change some of the scenes for god's sake if you 'borrowed' idea from somewhere else! anayway. having say that this is an enjoyable movie. very anime like from disney. i would recommend people to rent "kiki's delivery service". disney, keep it going! and be more creative with the next one please.

Summary: Why Disney copy other's work?
Review: I wonder why people think that just because it's a disney animation, it is great. So let's look at Atlantis, 10 years ago a Japan anime called "Nadia, The Secret of Blue Water" was created by Hideaki Anno. It was based on Jules Verne's novel "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". Look at the drawings and compare, it seems to me that disney copied Nadia in many points but they did slapdash work in copying.
I know that some Japanese animation are violent or simply not for kids but most of it is far more interesting than disney's attempts of creativity or copying in this case. Just take time to see "Princess Mononoke", "Akira", "Grave of the Fireflies".

Summary: The closest Disney will get to Indiana Jones?
Review: It's a Disney feature animation so it's almost guaranteed to be at least good. But this film is better than average even as far as Disney feature animations go. I especially appreciated the adventure theme as opposed to the standard fairy tale love theme, and I was even more pleasently surprised to find no musical numbers. I believe that is a first for Disney. To be cliche, it's a fun movie the whole family can enjoy. Usually that's not such a good thing for adults, but in this case it means you'll probably actually like it, and like that your kids (if you have em) can watch it too.

Summary: Atlantis- The Lost Empire 2-disc DVD!
Review: I grew up on Disney Animated films and so I was there to see "Atlantis" on opening day. This is not your typical Disney movie. This is Disney's first attempt at a science fiction animated masterpiece. I loved it, but I also know that there were alot of people who didn't. This movie dosen't rely on stunning visual effects as much as it rely's on a great story. Milo Thatch (Michael J. Fox) grew up hearing his grandfathers stories of Atlantis. When he discovers a jurnal wich describes where and how to find Atlantis, he leads an expedition crew to uncover the mystery of Atlantis. But he never imagined that anyone would still be alive. Join Milo on his quest to save Atlantis from a curse before the entire civilization is wiped out. I'm overly excited that Disney is making this a 2-disc set. They always put the best special features on! Buy it today!

Summary: Good plot, bad animations
Review: Well,I think that The Hunchback of Notre Dame was a turn-around in Disney`s career. There is no silly jokes,although the french wacko Molliere is a little comical.
But what I do not like is the animations. The figures look all to rectangular - the animations are poor and they look too unproportional for beeing realistic. But the characters are not nearly as silly and/or poorly animated as the ones of Hercules,Disney`s baddest film!This is a quite serious story,very loosely based on Jules Verne`s Journey to the Center of Earth,which I like. The plot is the following: a young linguist named Milo James Tatch (voiced by Michael J. Fox)believes what no other person seems to believe - the fact that the city of Atlantis exists,deeply buried into the volcanic ashes of Iceland. Together with his quirky crew of famous explorers,lead by the not-to clear bad guy Rourke (voiced by James Garner)he leaves for a trip to Atlantis. This movie is unlike most other Disney films. It is much more artistic and majestic than Aladdin for example. It is in the last twenty minutes that the action is really taking over the film. Rourke reminds me of McLean,Disney`s worst bad guy from The Rescuers Down Under. He just feels evil and greedy,not at all comical.
Well,over all,I think this movie deserves four stars.
But here are what`s may be the public thoughts of these new,robust animated features : they are just OK stories,and with no songs,they are too boring for children,or too scary villains,as Rourke or the giant,devilish scorpion. And they could do better animations!
Over all,as this movie is rated PG for some violence,it is recommended best to children over 10 years old,and may be to teenagers as well. But not for small children (I mean six or so).
NOTE: This review refers totally to the version I saw in theatres. I`ll purchase the DVD later,and then this review will probably be changed,as there are a lot of extra features on the DVD.

Summary: What a find
Review: Atlantis The lost empire was a wonderfully done Disney film. I have watched it 3 times in the theater, and can't wait for it to come to DVD so I can buy it and watch it on our home theater. This is one movie that you don't want to miss. This movie shows just how Walt Disney has stayed on top of the pack. If you see no other movies this year be sure to watch this one. Not only does it hold the attention of the grownups but also the very small children who are often antsy to get out of their seats in movie theaters. I watched 3 children ages 2, 3, and 4 sit still with no popcorn or pop and watch the movie without even a bathroom break. They didn't want to miss anything.

Summary: Unexpectedly Nice for adults
Review: I thought this movie was only for kids. I found that lots of kids in the theaters did not have a good time because the way of the movement of the Cartoon (very fast) and actor's speech rate (quite fast). I do like the realistic movement of catoon's face and natural speechs. For me (30+ years of age), The cartoon is quite nice and full of actions. 15 minutes of the beginning (intro about the story of the hero's life) is quite boring (I almost fell asleep), but when the casts got to Atlantis,the action began and went on non- stop to the end. Beautiful animation color, Nice & loud sound effect and very good and realistic actions (it reminded me of Tarzan, moving from tree to tree, all of the time). This animation contanied almost 50% of fast action. Big kids (boys) might like it. A group of 3-6 years girls sitted next to me couldn't understand the movies and couldn't stop playing with each others.

Summary: 'ATLANTIS' Fast-paced Disney departure
Review: Next to "Planet of the Apes", this was on my Summer "To See" list, so June 15th rolled around, and even though "Atlantis" was up against "Tomb Raider", I wasn't disappointed, but I felt a little empty-handed by the time the credits rolled. First off, I've always been a big fan of the face-paced, intriquet, smash bang boom adventure story, and with "Atlantis" I wasn't disappointed. The battle sequences were amazing, the city of Atlantis itself was fascinating, and the characters (though stereotypical) fit perfectly in the scheme of things. The only problem was I was sitting in the 10th row of the theater, and I wish I would've sat back a little further, because like any good "ride of the summer" movie, "Atlantis" goes almost too fast. The visuals and plot are very fast and a little "hey, slow down". One thing snapped right into another. One minute the huge submarine is in the ocean, the next it's in a thousand pieces courtesey of a giant lobster. But there was alot to love about "Atlantis". I loved how the animation stuck with a specific style. In other Disney flicks (i.e. "Beauty and the Beast" for example) the animation tends to stray, the style flailing helplessly about from kiddie flick to serious animated feature. "Atlantis" stayed very faithful to the shape and style of animation throughout the movie. From that critical standpoint it did well. Did I mention the battle sequences kicked butt? :) Overall, Disney has done well with "Atlantis" and while it wasn't an audience favorite, or a mega-hit of the summer, it certainly shows (Dreamworks) that Disney's got the action-adventure animated feature genre down, too. Although, you gotta wonder, when are they going to make another classic animated musical with cute little bunnies???
