Summary: Sheena
Review: No matter what you think of the acting and plot, the music and sceneary in Kenya is magnificent. Keeping with all gatekeeper reviews this movie contains adult nudity (Tanya Roberts) and child nudity (the two girls that play Tanya at younger ages - mostly all topless scenes).

Summary: I like it
Review: Ok, don't laugh. I know to many people this movie is probably a little cheesy, but it has it's moments. I saw it when I was 8, and for some reason ever since, I have always loved this movie. Maybe it's the fantasy of communicating with animals, riding bareback on a zebra, the beautiful scenery, the african landscape, the healing sand that they stick people in for however long... I'm not really sure, but it is one of my favorites. I bet the comic is great and I would love to see a remake of the movie done maybe more true to the comic. Not the show (I'm a little nervous if it will be any good), but a more true to the comic depicted movie. It really is one of those good old fashioned adventure flicks. Not enough of those being made any more. I almost want to give it 4 stars cuz I like it so much, but that wouldn't be true rating I guess. It's an average movie, but the scenery is spectacular and the story has it's moments.

Summary: Sheena-- A Female Tarzan!
Review: Ok, I can say I liked this movie. Tanya Roberts does a a good job in the title role as "Sheena." I can also say, this is not Tanya's best work.

If I had to categorize this flim I'd call it a Romance/Action-Drama. Something this movie has going for it is the eye catching scenery. It's beautiful! The interaction with the animals is amazing!

Though I enjoyed this movie, I feel I should should state, this movie is not for everyone. As I was watching this film the one thing that kept running through my mind was... "Sheena-- A female Tarzan." That is the BEST way I can describe this film.

If you like Tanya Roberts, or enjoy Tarzan movies you will probably like this movie.

Summary: Great looking DVD
Review: Okay, you don't watch this for a magnificient plot nor review it like you would a epic blockbuster. That said, someone at Columbia Pictures must really love this film because the digital transfer is gorgeous, except for the opening credits (which start a quarter hour into the movie) and closing credits: these scenes have a lot of "dirt" on the print. Other than those, it is a flawless transfer. You get anamorphic widescreen on one side and full screen on the other. Subtitles in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese(!), Korean(!), & Thai(!!),(evidently the film is big in the Far East). The music score is beautiful and far beyond what you'd expect for this kind of movie. Yes, there is a cheesy model helicopter crash and the horse is painted like a zebra; however, a great looking DVD for a "guilty pleasure" movie. Check your brain at the door and enjoy it.

Summary: fine corny flick
Review: One huge schlock-fest, SHEENA is a cult classic that is right up there with QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE and THE WASP WOMAN.

Tanya Roberts (of "Charlie's Angels" fame), plays the vine-swinging heroine, Queen of the Zambuli tribe and communicator with animals (Dr Dolittle's sweetheart).

Into her life comes Vic Casey (Ted Wass from "Blossom"), and together they fight to save her land from a cruel ruler and his bitchy girlfriend (who comes to a very satisfying demise).

Great return to the old-fashioned Saturday matinee adventure films, and Roberts is in fine form as the scantily-clad Sheena.

Based on a 1930's comic strip character, which in turn was made into a 1950's television series.

With Elizabeth of Toro and Donovan Scott.

Summary: A multiple waste
Review: Sadly, this movie is a waste three times over: of the breathtaking locations; of Tanya Roberts's stunning beauty; and of the character itself. Sheena, the pulp and comicbook character, was the first bona fide heroine, and spawned a whole sub-genre (the "she-Tarzans") which begot dozens of clones, well into the '70s (Marvel's Shanna),'80s (Americomics's Tara) and '90s (Budd Root's Cavegirl) - not coincidentally, jungle girls were one of Werthan's favorite targets in his witch-hunt against comics in the '50s. There were several ways the character could be portrayed in the movie: tongue-in-cheek (I mean, fellas, come on, a next-to-naked woman, unarmed but for the most primitive of weapons, taking on the beasts and the baddies all on her own!), as a knock-'em-down, sock-'em-up superwoman, or any combination between. Instead, a braindead script leaves Ms. Roberts with next to nothing to actually do - they've even come up with this notion that she can communicate with animals, and let them do her doity work for her. Sure, she swings a mean vine, but is that all that is ? Add to that a silly "love interest", a ludicrous "comic relief", and what have you got, instant flop. For this viewer, more's the pity, as I'm a long-time admirer of Ms. Roberts's pulchritude (if anyone out there knows of a fan club on her, just let me know and I'll sign up sight unseen). But - silliness for silliness, check out the videos of the Sheena TV series, starring Irish McCalla. At least, damn it, she does wrestle a rubber crocodile !

Summary: Tanya Roberts and Ted Wass played it to perfection!
Review: This is a beautiful film, a love story that breaks hearts. How many times in a movie do two people fall desperately in love but....well I won't write anything else except that it was the most touching and beautiful ending since "Casablanca". You'll see why. The music and score is very important to me in films and this one is wonderful. The last shot in the film (about 5 minutes long and all one take) is one of the most elegant and graceful exits I've ever viewed. See if you can take your eyes off it. Even though the plot has been filmed to death over and over thoughout the years the director and his cast, in my opinion, really made this film stand out. I just wish Sony, which owns this film would release a dvd with some "real" extras in it. Craig
