Summary: A lot of Fun
Review: This movie reminded me of the Saturday Matinees I went to as a kid. It was a lot of fun, bad guys you hated, a girl, and a hero. Throw all that together with some great special effects and it's a great ride, so sit back and enjoy.

Summary: The Mummy is an edge-of-your-seat phenomenon!
Review: Wow, when I was forced to watch this remake of The Mummy, I thought I'm in for a lame and cheesy film. But after viewing this movie, I was really impressed with special effects and awesome storyline! The cast has done an incredible job as their illustrious characters and the sets are reminiscent of Ancient Egypt with all the details done to the max. I would really recommend seeing this film for all age groups. The stroyline is somewhat like an Indiana Jones-type of adventure, but better! The movie has a range of emotions and scenes that satisfy even the most critical of all movie-goers (like myself) which makes it suitable for a movie-buffs. After watching this film, one can only await the sequel! Enjoy this one for what it's worth. It's definately a keeper!

Summary: Horrifically good fun for everyone...
Review: There is no way this film can be taken seriously, which is good because it makes it all the more enjoyable. Brendan Fraser hams it up delightfully as the roguish ex-legionnaire Rick O'Connell who is roped in (forgive the dreadful pun!) into helping Egyptologist Evelyn played by Rachel Weisz to locate the lost city of Hamunaptra and its many wonderful treasures. Unfortunately Hamunaptra has many secrets, some of them very, very nasty and the nastiest secret of all is the evil priest Imhotep played by Arnold Vosloo. I have to admit Arnold Vosloo made the film for me, as did the young woman who played the Pharaoh's mistress and his lover, Patricia Velazquez, she was superb, shame she had such a small part in the film! The special effects were amazing, and the humour rib chucklingly funny. I mean who can forget the moment when Imhotep's still decomposing body falls out of the coffin and Rick, Evelyn and her brother Jonathan played stupendously by John Hannah look at each other and say simultaneously, "he's still so.......JUICY!" I howled with both laughter and fright. This is a great film with some gruesome moments but mostly in my opinion this is a comedy of horrors that makes you both jump and laugh in fright. I won't give away anymore of the plot but it is worth seeing and a double disc compellation special makes it twice as good. Worth seeing for the hammy acting and clichés that make it horrifically good fun for everyone.

Summary: An Indy wannabe + old horror classic =THE MUMMY
Review: When THE MUMMY first came out all my friends told me it was a really good movie that reminded them of Indiana Jones. When I finally first watched this film, I was let down. It seemed to me to be a poor imitation of the Indy films. However, after watching it several times since then, I have come to enjoy the movie much more.

Brendan Fraser's O'Connel starts off as an Indy wannabe. However, by the time the final credits role, he has become his own character. Much of the plot is taken from Universal's orignial THE MUMMY, but this time instead of a Mummy who strangles people to death, the Mummy sucks out the life from his victims and spews forth plagues from his mouth. The special effects are magnificient and though the acting is a bit cheesy, one must not forget that this is not a dramatic masterpiece. The movie is filled with humor, taking away from some of the more gruesome points in the film. Overall, the tongue-in-cheek revamp of the original THE MUMMY, along with the great special effects make this fun movie a tasty piece of mind-candy.

Summary: Two Hours of My Life That I'll Never Have Back!
Review: To call this movie funny or in any way resembling an Indiana Jones movie is a great mistake. Aside, from some impressive special effects, this movie has no redeeming qualities. I enjoy lighter cinematic fare as much as the next guy, but the script here is awful and the acting even worse. Don't say I didn't tell you so!

Summary: An adventure; not old-fashioned horror
Review: This is nothing like the original 1930s version; I'd like to make that clear right now. It is adventure, not horror. Brendan Fraser makes a pretty good action hero; he's roguish, a little ignorant, and slightly manipulative. But he has his hands full battling a cursed mummy in an expedition that was idiotically looking to disturb the peace in Egypt (how original). For some reason Imhotep, the mummy who slowly rejuventes his body by sacrificing the living, is immortal and wants to destroy the world, bringing about the seven plagues. The effects are okay but they could have been better; the scarabs didn't move real at all. In fact, is there even any such thing as a flesh-eating scarab?? Hmmm. But it's good, worth your time, certainly; and underrated by critics, like everything seems to be these days. Buy it, but not over the Internet. You can walk, hopefully; go to a store and get it. Hope you enjoy this movie as much as I did, despite the odd plot!

Summary: Nice Popcorn Movie -- Great "Ultimate" DVD
Review: The Mummy is a very nice popcorn movie. It's fun, and pretty exciting, and very entertaining over all. It reminds me of Indiana Jones with more humor. I found the cinematography to be above par, and the soundtrack to be very nice. The Mummy: Ultimate Edition DVD, is a great DVD! It combines the previously two released DVD's (including the Wide Screen anamorphic transfer and the full screen). The DVD's are loaded, especially the disc 2, disc 2 contains all the special features loaded on the first release, plus 3 more hours of special features, so if you own the previous edition, and are looking at this, you should upgrade (not only does it have more special features, but it has a stellar DTS sound track, that will make your home theater soar!). Bottom line is, if you liked The Mummy, you should definately get the Ultimate 2 Disc DVD. It's not a masterpiece, it's not a great amazing film, but it's The Mummy, and it's entertainment at it's best (with much re-watchability). Isn't this what movies are all about?

Summary: Ok, as long as you don't know your history.
Review: I thought that the movie had many interesting scenes, and the recostruction of what the pyramids would have looked like then was nice, however imhotep was a carpenter, not a priest. Anyway, that is one small error amongst several. Unfortunately I was taking egyptian history when this movie came out, which ruined the impact for me due to a few errors on the side of the movies historical accuracy. Oh well. Some of the computer effects looked downright fake as well, but some looked really good. That's all I have to say about that ;).

Summary: Dont take this seriously, the makers didn't
Review: This is not a "film" this is a movie. It is designed to entertain us for a little while and that is exactly what it does. Sure the acting and writing didn't get any recognition at the award shows, but so what! This movie is about adventure, humor and special affects, which is has plenty of. So people please dont take this so seriously, the actors and directors didnt why should you?
