Summary: Too Bad About The Mono
Review: Okay, first off, I just bought this gift set today. I had just finished reading almost all of the reviews on the net, and there seems to be mixed reactions. The reason that this DVD set did not get a 5 star rating is that "Live & Let Die" is NOT DTS or even stereo. It's MONO. I can't believe this. Why in hell could they not make this DVD in DTS, or at least Stereo. This also happened with "Goldfinger". I mean, if they could make "Thunderball" in 5.1 Stereo why could't they make all the films in this set the same. It's beyond me. Considering how much money I spent on this set, I would think that they could have had all the films in DTS or 5.1 stereo. Someone said in another review that "Live & Let Die" is not in Widescreen even though it says on the cover that it is. Well, the version I got is definitely Widescreen. So at least that is okay. They must have fixed it since the original release date in 1999. That all said, this is the collection to get. If you really want these movies, you better get them NOW, as eveywhere I have tried to get it says that they are sold out and that they can't even order it as it is now out of print. I got the last copy in Toronto. You can still buy them as individuals but it will cost you much more. The cheapest that I saw them was at Wal-Mart for $29.99 CDN. So I would say get this set NOW if it is in your means.

Summary: Flawless but endangered
Review: The DVDs in this collection are stunning. Not only are these the best most of these movies have ever looked and sounded but the extra commentaries and documentaries are a treasure trove. Goldfinger, Thunderball, Live and Let Die, For Your Eyes Only, Licence to Kill, GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies have recieved the best compliment MGM/UA can give. Which makes the latest rumors so puzzling. While this is the oldest set in the collection there are rumors that MGM is planning on putting the sets and the individual Bond DVDs on moratorium. This means the titles will be discontinued until probably Bond 20 comes out next year. If you havent grabed the sets or your individual favorite movies grab them now before they disapear.

Summary: You know you want them all
Review: You can look up the individual reviews. Of course some individual titles will go out of stock. Others may not be your favorite. However you will have friends and relatives that will want to compare Bonds. A single case makes the movies easier to keep track of and look better on your video storage wall. Being DVDs this is a one-time investment. With the advent of multiple DVD changers you will be able to keep James ready at a moments notice. I tried buying individual as I got the money and found shipping was getting very expensive that way. So bite the bullet and buy the collection.

Summary: A pretty good collection
Review: I hate the way they packaged the Bond films (see my review of vol. 3), why not in order of release? (Because that would make it too easy to skip Moore's films.) Apart from that, the films here are pretty good. This set includes Goldfinger, which many pick as the best of the series (personally I put it second after From Russia With Love). It also has one of Moore's best entries in From Your Eyes Only. Dalton, the most underrated Bond, is represented by Licence to Kill, pretty good although not as good as Living Daylights, his first. Better are Brosnan's two films, Tomorrow Never Dies and Goldeneye. Both very entertaining, and Brosnan is the best Bond since Connery. The last two films are not as good. Thunderball is not one of Connery's best (he did much better with this story in the "unofficial" Bond movie Never Say Never Again). However the only real turkey in the set is the absurd Live and Let Die with Roger Moore.

Summary: Musthave for 007 fans
Review: This DVD collection is something, which you should - if you are a James Bond fan, as I am - look for! While the three collections and the selection method for them can be criticised, by this time all three sets are available, so it really doesn't matter which set contains what 007 episode. The DVD editions are nicely worked out, and usually contain all available MM materials - trailers, interviews, making of ... shots, soundtracks - so you can get a good overview and feeling of the times each film was introduced. I also enjoyed the nice navigation interface, which is changing across all DVDs, thou maintaining the same style. What I really missing is the encyclopedia like details - you can only find these in 'The Essential Bond' or the 'Complete James Bond movie encyclopedia' books - which would keep me returning to the details section of the DVDs (not just playing the film over and over). Anyway, if you like James Bond movies, I strongly recommend to buy this (and the other two) sets and enjoy :-)

Review: James Bond fanatics the world over will enjoy this collection. If you like DVD better than TBS (and commercials)- get this collection of classics.

Summary: Giftsets collect great DVD re-issues
Review: Hats off to MGM for reissuing the unstoppable James Bond series in new DVD's - These discs really should be applauded for their menuing and design. In addition, lots of special and behind-the-scenes features really make these discs worth owning. Every time I dig one out, I try a new feature (commentary, alternate commentary, making-of).

Summary: Great without Moore
Review: I was so excited when I got this in the mail and was very disappointed with the two Moore flicks, Live and Let Die and For Your Eyes Only (which I hadn't seen). I already knew I liked the Connery's (Goldfinger, Thunderball), Brosnan's (GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies), and Daulton's (License to Kill), but to say again I was extremely disappointed with the Moore's. Your better off dropping a few extra bucks for just the Connery's, Daulton's, and Brosnan's you'll be doing yourself a favor.

Summary: James Bond DVD Giftset
Review: This giftset is a great collection of Bond films. I wish they had arranged them all in one package instead of 3 waves, but then again one pack would be very expensive. The DVD format is perfect for Bond movies with all the special extras that you could never see on VHS. It allows you to freeze the movie mid-frame so you can get a still picture of Bond's license plate (BMT 216A). As I mentioned before the DVD format includes many extras including trailers, tv spots, commentaries and other goodies you cannot find on VHS. I am not going to write anymore like those other reviewers who think they're the final authority on Bond. It's just a collection of Bond movies. But if you're a Bond fan, this set is for you.

Summary: Bond Forever
Review: The movies of James Bond have become more exciting over the years. Starting with Sean Connery, I would say that the character(James Bond) has not really changed. The actions of Connery, Moore, Dalton, and Brosnan all help to make 007 come alive. All movies in this set are wonderful and many people are looking forward to the next two sets.
