Review: Yea, it is kinda bad. This movie is an insult to the batman series. Number one was the best. Number 2 rocked almost as much. Number 3 was pretty good although a step in a different direction. This movie is just plain crap.The cast is boring. The bad guys have resorted to cliches every other second. Robin is pretty good as he was in the last film. George Clooney blows as batman. He isn't cold or dark. He is probably the worst thing in the entire trilogy. Alicia Silverstone makes a fine Batgirl, but then again batgirl is rather useless. Arnold is the worst mostly because he says cliches that make him out to be an idiot. Don't even touch Ivy or Bane, they sucked. The plot has gotten pathetic slightly. I really could care less though with such a craptacular cast. Save your money and go buy the other films because this one isn't really worth it.

Summary: THIS IS WHAT WARNERS REALLY THINKS OF DC....
Review: One screenwriter once said that Warners does not feel that any DC hero would make a great picture, so they only do one or two films on them once in a while just to say to themselves "there we did it and it did not work." Cas in point being Batman and Robin, a film that in every way is incredibly bad, badly casted, and has terrible production values. Showing over-designed costumes where the actors clearly can harly move in them, to seeing Alicia Silverstone saying the most corny dialoge as Batgirl, to Michael Gough being forced to perform in a film series that by this time ran out of steam. It was such a terrible blow to Batman fans and it will be a hard task for the new Bat-film now being made by Chris Nolan to overcome, and it might not succeed.

Summary: Yet another example of man's inhumanity to his fellow man
Review: I don't remember much about this movie. I just remember back in 1997 I saw it on opening night. By the time the ending credits rolled, I walked out of the theater feeling horribly, horribly used. I felt cheap. I had allowed myself to be used as a pawn in a cynical, cash-making Hollywood scheme. I was ashamed of myself. First of all, Governor Schwarzenegger (aka: "Der Gropenfuhrer") did not deserve top-billing for this piece of garbage. The frickin' movie is entitled "BATMAN & ROBIN"! Arnold doesn't play EITHER of those characters! What the (*@#&$(*@#*$!^???? Secondly, George Clooney needed the cash. Period. He was an up-and-coming star at the time. He was still "Mr. ER" from TV. After chastising the media for its alleged role in Princess Diana's death (and conveniently stealing that week's headlines), Georgie-Porgie-Pudding-and-Pie needed some cash and some publicity and he got it. Wa-hoo, George. Fortunately, he later hooked up with Steven Soderbergh and turned away from poo-poo platter like this movie. Third: Chris O'Donnell. UGH! I am ashamed that I share a common Irish heritage with this pud! BLEH! Fourth: Alicia Silverstone was in this movie? Wow! Remember when she was going to be the next Julia Roberts? Whatever happened to her? Was she on "The E! True Hollywood Story" recently? Fifth: Uma Thurman. I like Uma. The green eyelashes don't do her justice. Let's just forget she was ever in this movie. It never happened. And, last--but not least: BANE. Truly the most horrifying screen villain since Gary Coleman. Why is he called "Bane"? Well, you see...he's the...BANE....of society. Get it? Bane? Of society? I can see you're shaking in your boots. Please stop now. Anyway, the bad guys try to take over Gotham City and the good guys (Batman & Robin) are out to stop them. Throw in the usual "Will Bruce Wayne reveal his true identity?" plotline and blah blah blah blah blah. You can see why they never made another "Batman" movie. This one effectively killed the franchise. Praise the Lord!

GEORGE CLOONEY IS AS WORSE A BATMAN THAN ADAM WEST HAS EVER BEEN! AND ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER AS MR. FREEZE? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?!! Summary: How the mighty fell
Review: I have heard that Warner Bros. is currently talking about reviving the "Batman" franchise. Before I proceed with this review, I have some advice for them if they wish for future "Batman" films to be successful: CALL TIM BURTON! TELL HIM YOU'RE SORRY! PAY HIM WHATEVER HE WANTS!!! "Batman and Robin" is a cheesy campfest if there ever was one, and an insult to the Batman name. It's actually no worse than other bad summer blockbusters out there, but it's always bashed even more so because of comparisons to the first two "Batman" films. This is a perfect example of what happens to a franchise when people stop caring about it- Joel Schumacher was obviously far more interested in the $$$ signs than Tim Burton, who actually cared about the characters and how they were portrayed. The result is a film that's filled to the brim with impressive special effects, but is devoid of any emotional impact. Things go wrong almost immediately- Clooney is terrible as Batman, and he himself admitted so in future interviews. He isn't helped by the script, which gives him such corny lines as, "This is why Superman works alone!" This is not the brooding Burton-Batman that I grew up with, and that's not a good thing. Robin- who was somewhat interesting in "Batman Forever"- is turned into a whiny brat here. Why the filmakers decided to include a Batgirl in the film is strange, because she's given nothing to do, and Silverstone plays her with the enthusiasm of someone going in for a tetanus shot. Of course, it's really the villains that drive every "Batman" entry, but once again you're in for a huge disappointment. This could very well have been Schwarzenegger's worst performance ever. Moments where he tries to show emotion are unintentionally hilarious, and every other line out of his mouth is a bad joke about ice (Yep, this guy is somehow my governor). The screenwriters for his character were downright lazy. Only Uma Thurman shows flair as Poison Ivy, but her alliance with Mr. Freeze makes no logical sense- she wants to cover the world with plants, and he wants to freeze it. Hmmm. This is technically the best looking "Batman" film if you judge by special effects alone, but all the dark wonder of Gotham City from "Batman Returns" is gone. There's no emotional stake for any of the characters, so we essentially just watch the pretty colors flashing in front of us like some kind of video game. It all cumulates in a phony happy ending that is an anticlimax if there ever was one. This is one huge misfire of a film; everything that once made the "Batman" franchise good disappears in here. There's wall-to-wall action that you stop caring about after the first 20 minutes. Most of the acting ranges from mediocre to downright terrible. Not only is this the worst "Batman" film, but it's one of the most wrong-headed Hollywood attempts of the decade. Just watch the first two over again.

Summary: Closest version to the Tv show
Review: If your a fan of the old Adam West original Batman from the tv show then you can't find a better remake out of the whole bunch of Bman movies!I liked the ORIGINAL Batman (Adam West) series more so than the violent films of the past.In m opinion this is the best of the buch. It has almost every aspect of the tv version in this movie. First of all I can't stand George Clooney. He can't act an this makes him the perfect Batman version of Adam West and also the Best of all the Batman actors to play the role.Arnold is great as Freeze and this movie contains all the comedic and style of the tv show.The DVD has a great picture and an awesome Dolby 5.1 soundtrack that'll test your home theatre sound system.Contrary to most people's opinions on this movie, I think they were expecting the same old serious DARK Batman characters and violence that the other Batman movies had more of.This great version was more like the TV version which I enjoyed alot and was hoping for to begin with. Micheal Keaton as Batman? Val Kilmer as Batman? You could beat those little un-muscular guys up. Atleast Clooney can't act and is taller than those two. More-so like Adam West.

Summary: Almost as good as "Batman"; only a few nits to pick
Review: I really do think this is arguably the best of the series. Why? Because in this movie, the character motivations, especially the villains, but excluding Batman/Bruce Wayne himself, are clear. Motivation is key to driving plot. Why do the characters do what they do? Mr. Freeze's tragic story provides him with an interesting impetus, and it's a shame the makers of this movie chose a paint-by-numbers approach and did so little with so much to potentially work with. I would still contend, though, that the highbrow critics of this feature have got it all wrong about Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy here, blasting them as cookie-cutter, when actually, the writing clearly shows us an interesting web of motive. Of all the series, it is this movie which does the two big villains thing best. My criticisms are:
1. The clumsy innuendos slung about in a movie marketed towards kids. It's possible to write innuendo in such a way that only the clever adults in the audience will get it; many of the old movies did this well. These writers aren't crafty enough, though, and it's embarrassing. 2. Batman himself is not developed any further, and he should be. With both Freeze and Ivy, there's opportunity for some exploration of his pain, but the movie is also saddled with Robin and Batgirl, and so loses focus and gets crowded. 3. The final scene in Arkham Asylum, which countermanded all the work of the story leading up to it. I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but it's completely untenable (even for a comic-book movie) and ruins whatever good work they tried to do with Mr. Freeze. Stop the movie before you get to it -- it'll be a better experience. A positive: I enjoy the color and lighting of the Joel Schumacher films ("Batman Forever" and "Batman and Robin") more than the Tim Burton- directed ones (the first two), and with a comic-book movie, what is visual is of primary importance. I know this is partly taste - but I just find the scheme more satsifying, because it seems to more creatively use the pallette. Batman stuff is supposed to be dark, but bright hues (even neon) mixed in make for a more comic book-like feel to me.
