Summary: Redeemed from its awfulness by its sheer gall.
Review: "Barb Wire" is not a good film. Honestly, it's a one or two star film at best, save that it does the unthinkable: It's a scene-for-scene remake of "Casablanca," set in a post-apocalyptic future, with Pamela Anderson replacing Humphrey Bogart.

The sheer cheek involved in doing this -- I would love to have been in the pitch meeting for "Barb Wire" -- really makes this a hoot to watch and redeems its awfulness. Each scene from "Casablanca" that's cheerfully trashed is a laugh riot to watch, once you relax and stop worrying about Humphrey Bogart spinning in his grave.

Easily the most fun I've ever had watching a "bad" movie and good (extremely) mindless fun.

Summary: Basically, this is a really cheesy re-make of "Casablanca"..
Review: ... but instead of Bogart we've got the incredibly sexy-looking Pamela Lee-Anderson in the title role. And instead of North Africa in 1940, it's a post-apocalypic America that provides the setting. Pam really is a beautiful woman (in an admittedly sleazy way), and I have to acknowledge that she's the only reason I continued watching this otherwise forgettable film.

Summary: In Praise of this Stylish Mess...
Review: ....you were expecting, mebbe, Fellini?

Taken as it is--a colorful, stylish homage/spoof with uber-babe Pam Andersen attituding with big guns and riding souped up/zouped up cycles--it ain't all that bad, at all. It's gonna be a cult favorite, just you watch.

Summary: You know who the real stars are...
Review: ...with the opening scene; Pam's twins! It was a decent plot (but who is watching this movie for a plot?) with decent action and decent acting. The twins however were at their best!!!

Summary: Don't call her babe....
Review: A decent bit of mindless fun.

The dialogue wasn't great, the acting was okay at best. But if you are a Pamela Anderson fan or/and can switch off your brain during the film and enjoy it for what it is then you'll like it.

Oh, and remember.... DON'T call her babe!!!

Summary: As bad as you'd expect
Review: An adventure movie starring Pamela Anderson, sometimes clothed in little more than a bubble bath? This has got to be a trick-question right? From the sound of it, you'd think that reviews of this flick would tell you that the movie has a surprise to it - that there's something here besides Anderson's unbelievable body and the hopelessly clueless villains and even side-kicks who must be reminded not to call our heroine a "babe"; that the plot holds at least as many surprises as "Casablanca" which it shamelessly rips off from; and that it's either fully concious of its ludicrousness and manages to either highlight the humour or untapped drama of the situation.

Instead, this flick seems to spend most of its time reminding you how little there is to it - the villains wouldn't last a second in a decent movie - while taking itself incredibly seriously. As everybody knows, this flick riffs on "Casablanca" about a wartime resistance leader's efforts to escape Nazi occupation for America. In "Barb Wire", the resistance leaders are trying to escape a fascist America for free-Europe, though it looks like they'll be happy just to escape this movie. The stunts are painfully unspectacular, the script and supporting characters (especially a black-market kingpin meant to suggest the amiably corpulent Sidney GreenStreet) agonizingly unfunny and its vision of a fascist America seem redolent in its hypocrisy given that this flick seems to cater to a fascist mentaity of its own (characters who don't rise from their archetypes; violence, objectification of women - no matter how much power they seem to have). This was a follow-up to "TimeCop" which approached a very simple subject and more or less suceeded (how to make Ron Silver as detestable as possible - and then how to make killing him look as satisfying as possible). In short, there's nothing you won't see of Pam that you couldn't find on her home movies. Even had her private videos been entirely wholesome, they would have surpassed this movie in which Anderson's chief expression is a well deserved frown of utter disgust to her audience.

Summary: GET OFF IT!
Review: ANYONE WHO DOESN'T LIKE THIS MOVIE OBVIOUSLY DOESN'T LIKE TO HAVE FUN. THIS IS A FUN MOVIE AND JUST BECAUSE THIS IS A FUN MOVIE DOESN'T MEAN IT'S NO GOOD. AND I HAPPEN TO THINK PAMELA IS VERY ATTRACTIVE, SO SUE ME.

Summary: ONE OF THE TACKIEST FILMS YOU'RE LIKLEY TO SEE!
Review: Awful - absololutley rock bottom! Pamela Anderson Lee stars in this tacky dross where the ridiculous plot is set after the second civil war where the whole nation is left in chaos so the black leather biker, Barb, takes on fascist army pigs after crossing paths with an ex lover and his freedom fighter wife. Silly, uninventive, atrocious and unbealeavable dialogue and dreadful performances. On that note you could argue that this tacky nonsense is so bad its good. Never the less the film gets rated one star,. All effort obcviously went into some of the stunts and effects whilst the scripts and performances were probably done in a day.

Summary: A great movie with all the best aspects a movie could have.
Review: Barb is a nuteral in a second civil war in the U.S.. The Congresionals believe she is part of an underground black market to help rebels get out of the coutry. With Violence in the only free city left she fights to keep herself out of the middle of it all.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not Quite Truly Awful
Review: Barb Wire has nowhere near the class or entertainment value ofsome other "post apocalyptic" genre films like "TheRoad Warrior". I found it to be mediocre at best. In fact the ONLY redeeming value of this film are the substantial physical assets (and substantial they are) contributed by Ms. Anderson Lee particularly in the opening 5 minutes. After that I might as well have gone to sleep. The film concept had potential and the "Casablanca" adaptation was a good idea. There were some moments when the story had a chance for some interesting twists but it never quite worked. Ultimately, the whole thing came crashing down because of dreadful acting, lame dialogue and a completely transparent story line. Outside of Pam's gratuitous flashing this movie was just plain dull. Anyone interested in seeing Pam's body should just refer to Playboy. If you want a good action, "good vs. evil" popcorn movie, there are many, MANY more better than "Barb Wire".
