Rating: Summary: Good movie - by the book Review: This is truly a great action movie, good sound, good picture... you know what you're in for from the start to the end. No surprises, nothing new, just action. Thus only 2 stars... But a really great movie!
Rating: Summary: No Metaphore! BUGS!!!! Review: This was a great sci-fi movie. I had a movie party at my apartment and has one pretentious fellow instantly start raving about what a great metaphor the movie was for the failures of democracy and the evils of communism. Needless to say we pummeled him with popcorn because theirs nothing deep about this film even though the novel it was based on was a political satire. The movie has big mean bugs and big explosions and that's what you rent it for. People who say it's a bad movie are just being dumb for renting it because they're looking for a plot in a rockem' sockem' robot movie.
Rating: Summary: THE BUGS ARE COMING.......??? Review: After the Dinosours, Godzillas, Twisters, Volcanos , Aliens Here comes a new breed trying to take over not only the Earth but also the entire Galaxy. That's what the plot revolves around. To add some flavour to it there's a Love story also. Now what you really see in this Movie for about 2 hours is Bugs and Battle... Bugs and Battle... Bugs and Battle... Yeah...but there's finally an end to it. The Special effects are really good which makes the Movie quite enjoyable. The combats between Soldiers of Mobile Infantry and the Gigantic bugs look quite realistic. If you can withstand heavy dose of action supported by Sizzling Special Effects, Booming of Guns and Grenades, Litres of Blood , Limbs being ripped off the bodies and tossed in the air, Brains being sucked out of the socket then this is just the kinda Movie you'd love to watch. By the way, Could anyone please tell me why didn't they use some of the Ultra Modern Missiles instead of wasting lives of several lacs of Soldiers in hand to hand Combats against the Monster Bugs ?? Hey... Here's a friendly advice though... Don't munch anything while watching this one.
Rating: Summary: The combat strategy makes no sense! Review: The best part of this movie was the shower scene! Who in their right mind would send Infantry troops into hard-to-hand combat with the superior-sized bugs. That's what artillery, smart bombs, cruise missiles, and nuclear weapons are for. A needless waste of lives, done only to maximize the gore.
Rating: Summary: Unfairly underrated sci-fi action film Review: Unfairly underrated during it's initial release, this film is a treat for a number of genre fans : Sci-fi, action, war, and (according to some) comedy. Near-perfect casting and performances make this a real gem. There may not be a sequel (although a CGI TV series is in production), but there'll always be this film : A rare and highly successful blend of modern-day special effects with archaic movie dialogue and motives. Rent it and enjoy!
Rating: Summary: It's no masterpiece Review: Starship Troopers is a fun action film, but after watching it, you get the feeling you would have hated the movie if it had no humor. The book's interpretation of the bug wars is more dramatic, while the movie takes a comical turn. Starship Troopers has some pretty bad acting, with the exceptions being Dina Meyer and Neil Patrick Harris. This movie may seem gory to a lot of people, but the blood and guts in this movie look rather fake. That's disappointing considering the fact this movie cost over a 100 million dollars to make. It's no masterpiece, but it is a fun movie.
Rating: Summary: My favortie movie Review: I think this is the best movie of time!(Even though I'm only a 12 girl I know a great movie when I see one.)
Rating: Summary: good movie, great DVD Review: This is one of the best DVD's around. Unlike some DVDs, this one utilizes all six audio channels actually sorrounding you in sound. Other DVDs don't use all six channels which makes the sound seem "flat" or not dimensional. The visual effects are awesome and warrant repeated veiwings. The plot is effective and the performances could be better, but those are minor points. These great special effect, sci fi types of movies showcase what DVD can do.
Rating: Summary: Wake me when it's over!!! <Yawn!!> Review: A long time ago in a galaxy far far away, George Lucas made the best Sci-Fi film (Series)of all time. Twenty-some years later, a Luke Skywalker wannabe, named Caspar, played a role in the worst Sci fi film ever made. When movies compare themselves to Star Wars, they open up a can of jellied whoop a**. Independence Day is the movie that got away with it. Starship Troopers (aka. Bug Squadron) doesn't even come close. One thing comes to mind when viewing this film- "Who---what---where----when????" and "Huh?!?". The movie tried to butch up by showing some ugly a** nude scenes, and a gross-out vomit scene (or chunky beef soup and soda pop being spat out) Some movies inspire us to make our own movies; this one inspires me to make my own gravy.
Rating: Summary: 'Melrose Place in Space with a few bugs' Review: I watched this movie expecting a good action movie, with good special effects. And what did I see??? A soap opera with a few bugs. 1 1/2 hours soap opera / 30 minutes good special effects. So, if you like soap operas: watch it. If you do not like soap operas: do not watch it.
