Summary: Just as great as the First One!
Review: Despite being directed by another director, Murphy and co. didn't miss a beat in this flick. There were some areas were the quality slipped as well as areas where the quality improved. As for the downside, the plot was kind of silly, the alphabet bandit. I doubt that anyone would be goofy enough to waste their time doing that stuff when it comes to committing crimes. On the upside, it was great to see Taggard and Rosewood recieving much bigger roles than in the previous one. The new rigid chief was great too (Lutz). Chris Rock makes his big-screen debut for a few seconds as a limo driver. Bridgette Nielsen was great! Characters like Inspector Todd and Jeffery are back, as well as that one guy who was dealing the cigarettes to Foley back in #1. Apparantely Foley is now working undercover to bust that dude s uncle. The scene where all three ran into each other was hillarious! #1 and #2 were outstanding, but stop there, or you will be primed for a big dissapointment.

Review: Detriot cop Axel Foley returns to Beverly Hills to once again show "square" cops Rosewood and Taggert how real police work is done. This time, they're after a group of bank robbers known as "The Alphabet Bandits" who are responsible for shooting their boss. While this one is more dedicated to action than comedy (thanks to Top Gun director Tony Scott), Murphy is still in rare comedic form and manages to keep this sequel from being a waste of time. Too bad the same can't be said for the third entry in the "Beverly Hills Cop" franchise. Number two is a bit of a rehash but seeing all the characters from the fist go-around (with the exception of Bronson Pinchot and Lisa Eilbacher) back in action makes it excuseable.

TONY SCOTT KEEPS THE ACTION & LAUGHS COMING AT A RAPID RATE.
BUT SOMEHOW THE ORIGINAL BEVERLY HILLS COP HAD MORE GENNUINE STYLE.

Review: IN THIS REALLY NEEDLESS SEQUEL, MURPHY RETURNS TO LA TO HELP SOLVE AN ALPHABET CRIME WAVE. NOW, REALLY, THIS SEQUEL WAS NOT NEEDED, THEY COULD'VE LEFT THINGS THE WAY THEY WERE AND NOT DO THIS SEQUEL. THIS SEQUEL SUFFERS FROM A BAD PLOT. ALTHOUGH THERE IS POINTLESS MOMENTS IN THIS ONE, MURPHY REALLY HELPS TO SAVE THIS ONE FROM BEING A DISASTER IN A REALLY BIG WAY. OH, AND LOOK FOR APPEARNCES BY GILBERT GOTTFRIED AND A YOUNGER CHRIS ROCK. IF YOU'RE A DIE HARD FAN OF THE ORIGINAL, GO HEAD AND BUY THIS ONE. BUT IF YOU'RE NOT A DIE HARD FAN, JUST RENT THIS ONE.

Summary: Not quite as good as the first, but still worth it.
Review: It's hard to repeat the same magic over again, and perhaps this film best states that. Tony Scott directs this time around and while he made this one flashier and more action-packed than its predecessor, he doesn't quite handle it as well as Martin Brest did. Still, Eddie Murphy is funny as ever and delivers many memorable performances. Judge Reinhold and John Ashton are also onboard and are in fine form. To sum it all up, the performances are great (with Paul Reiser having a larger role than before) and the visual style is WOW. But the plot is very thin this time around and the film drags towards the end. It doesn't hold a candle to the first one, but stands alright on its own. Just watch and enjoy.

Review: Murphy should have held out. Not for more money but for a better script. BH2 is just dumb. Asinine plot and everything that was fresh and cool about the original is trotted out all over again. Lame.
