Summary: Dance into the fire, to fatal sounds of broken dreams....
Review: Since I first watched Sean Connery fight Blofeld in Japan in "You Only Live Twice", I've been captivated by the man known as 007. I bought the books, the video games, the soundtracks, and the DvDs. This particular film, "A View to a Kill", is one of my favorites. Fellow Bond fans call this movie a weaker Bond adventure. I will say it's of the same caliber as my absolute favorite "Goldfinger", but it is still a great Bond movie. Here's why: 1) Christopher Walken as Max Zorin. Walken is perfectly cast as a meglomaniac determined to make a killing in the microchip market... even if it means all of San Francisco will die. Walken is one of the best villians in the series; he manages to show charm, humor, and down right evil all at the same time. He's a formidable fighter as well, which Bond finds out on the Golden Gate Bridge. 2) The music. I love Duran Duran, and the title song is great. It is hard to get out of your head! The score itself is pretty good, with the music to the Golden Gate Fight being the best in the series. 3) The stunts. See the movie, the stunts are wonderful. 4) The other villians. Dr. Carl Mortner is a great background villain; he's the reason why Max Zorin came to be! His german doctor villain routine is great, down to the monicle. 5) The locations. Paris, Siberia, and San Francisco are exciting and exotic. The Golden Gate bridge.... "wow, what a view... to a kill."

This movie gets bashed a lot for a weak female lead (Tanya Roberts). Roberts, like many Bond girls, is still hot though! Good enough for me. Roger Moore may have been long due for retirement, but hell... what a send off.

Summary: THE BEST....EVER!
Review: This movie is the second best ever produced...starring Moore, of course....he's incredible. This movie takes a close second to "The World is Not Enough" ...but it's pretty freakin' good for an older Bond film!

Summary: Moore showing how bad a Bond movie can be
Review: 'A View To A Kill' is a rarity - a boring Bond movie, that goes nowhere, and does nothing.

This movie just drags on and on and on. It runs something like this ....

Pretitle sequence and title song - great. Everything after that - deadly dull and boring. Cooking and dinner sequence - time to change channels and see what else is on.

But it is worth watching the part when poor, aged Roger Moore is in bed with Grace Jones. It looks as if Grace would have Roger for breakfast. She should have played Bond - she would have done a much better job than old Roger.

Another high point is the car chase through Paris. When the little Renault Bond is driving gets chopped into a convertible, there are some close-shots where you can see very, very clearly that the driver is not Roger Moore. It looks as if Bond has morphed into someone else, then morphed back into his normal, old Roger face. The continuity in this sequence is so bad, you'll be laughing.

And the plot? Destroy Silicon Valley. Sounds like a great idea to me. When it's all rebuilt, using insurance money, it would be better built so that computer hardware will be better made. The only flaw in Zorin's plan is he should have destroyed Microsoft in Seattle at the same time. That would have made the film much more interesting.

If you want to see a terrible, badly made, badly acted and just plain boring Bond film, with major continuity problems, then you'll love this one.

Summary: Sad but true
Review: Roger Moore's final outing as James Bond is a poorly constructed dud. The film benefits from a few things but leaves a lot to be desired. To start, Roger Moore might as well be a wooden statue for the way he acts in this movie. The stuntmen are very noticeable and he looks simply terrible. Tanya Roberts isn't any better if not worse as the screeching, annoying girl. Christopher Walken attempts to give the film a lift with his good performance as criminal industrialist Max Zorin, but is offset by the spooky, one-dimensional villainess played by Grace Jones. Even Patrick Macnee doesn't help much. And despite the presence of director John Glen (Octopussy, For Your Eyes Only, The Living Daylights, and Licence To Kill) the picture still falls flat on its face. Alan Hume's cinematography is nothing special, and the locations pail in comparison to other OO7 films. The plot to destroy California's Silicon Valley is somewhat engaging but is really kind of silly. Still, there's more. AVTAK is hurt even more by ludicrous, unexciting action sequences including an out-of-control fire engine, a lame chase involving horses and the ridiculously silly pre-title ski chase. But the stunts are decent, and Duran Duran's title song is excellent. But overall, watch The Spy Who LOved Me or Octopussy if you want to see Moore's best.

Summary: Underrated 007 Thriller Unfairly Bashed By Fans
Review: A View to a Kill is one of those Bond films that the majority of fans seem to hate with a passion. It's constantly ranked near the bottom of the series, and Roger Moore is unfairly bashed. In fact, if it weren't for one small flaw, I'd give this one a perfect score. Explaination: For any Bond film to fully succeed, it must have the following characteristics: 1)An interesting storyline. 2)Exciting Action. 3)Threatening/evil villains and 4)A decent leading lady. How does AVTAK rank? The story about the flooding of Silicon Valley is much more engaging than most of the other stories, and it develops well. Walken is memorable and fun to watch as Max Zorin, the criminal mastermind behind the scheme. The action is satisfactory, especially the opening action piece and the finale on the Golden Gate Bridge. Only Tanya Roberts' annoying Bond girl hurts the film. Overall, it's a near perfect Bond flick. By the way - it looks like Moore was having a lot more fun in this one than in his previous three films - his lines are smart and his expressions are more honest this time out, less forced. He was especially effective on this, his final mission as 007.

Summary: cool name, terrible movie
Review: i am a huge bond fan. i know every movie. Roger Moore was one of my favorite bonds untill i saw this movie. it is by far, the worst bond movie outthere. i love the opening song by Duran Duran but other than that, the movie stinks. first moore is just way too old. he looks funny in it. second, cheapy probs and sets. the scene in paris when the car falls in half and still drives. pretty stupid also when that french guy runs after it with the worst dubbing in history chanting "oh, my car, oh my car, oh my car." and third, the movie just doesn't end! it drags for so long! do not buy this. rent it to see if you like it first.trust me. you can save a few bucks.

Summary: Not bad, but feels almost a parody of itself.
Review: This is certainly not one of the better Bond movies. When I'm about to watch a Bond movie, I expect a certain amount of silly jokes and clichés, but in this movie, it sometimes go too far, making the movie feel almost like a parody of itself and the other Bond movies. The stories in the Bond movies are also often quite stupid, but also fun. This one doesn't seem as interesting as most of the others. And it's not set in many fun, interesting locations (except for the Golden Gate Bridge). The girl, Stacey Sutton (Roberts) isn't one of the better Bond girls either. This movie is from 1985, and some of the worst things are probably Miss Moneypenny's (Maxwell) pink dress and May Day's (Jones) hair and makeup.

But, of course, the movie isn't bad. The 57-year-old Roger Moore makes a good last performance as James Bond and the movie is entertaining, like all Bond movies are. It's certainly not a movie you need to avoid, and it's fun to see if you like Bond movies. But if you just want a random Bond movie (or any movie) to watch, there are better ones.

Summary: Good skiing scene
Review: Bond films quite often feature skiing scenes, some of them quite breathtaking. I like the snow scene at the start of this film because it features Bond not only skiing but snowboarding (on a snowmobile runner of all things) plus surfboarding across a small pond again on said runner.

Summary: Ham Sandwich
Review: I bought this for the Duran Duran theme, it has to be said, but i really do feel that this is one of the best bond films. Connery does not interest me, so this is probably also the most Moore-ish titles in the series and is a far takes itself far less seriously than something like Thunderball. Walken brings a lot to the film - his character is basically Walken playing Walken but he more than makes up for Tanya Roberts (best looking of ANY bond girl) and her awful acting. The action sequence at the end also drags on far less than others in the series and borders on original, whilst it is also one of the best bond films visually.

Summary: Ancient Moore and incapable Roberts a bad combination
Review: The 14th Bond film and Roger Moore's seventh and last. AVTAK occupies one of the lower rungs in the series hierarchy. Moore looks old, exhausted and positively bored silly. His worst performance of any Bond film. Tanya Roberts is so bad, its startling. Proof positive that ANYONE who is pretty and determined can star in a movie or two; regardless of how little ability they have. The plot is uninspired retread of previous Bond plots. Christopher Walken, Grace Jones, great locales and some exciting action and stunts keep this movie from falling all to pieces. Walken plays Max Zorin, a psychotic genius who plans to cause a devastating earthquake which will destroy Silicon Vally. Walken is a favorite actor of mine. His character's cheerful quirkiness perfectly offsets his dangerous pychosis. Grace Jones is fun as Mayday, Walken's bodyguard and assasin. She's aggresive without being ludicrous. The Eiffel Tower, San Francisco and The Golden Gate Bridge are the highlights of this Siberia (actually shot in Iceland), England, France, and United States world tour. The action is plentiful. Skiing, horseback riding, spelunking, bridge climbing, parachuting, fire truck riding, blimp riding and scuba diving are among the activities, sports and pastimes getting the Bond treatment. Below average and for serious Bondophiles only.
