Review: I had looked at this video a dozen different times at my local video store. Finally, I buckled and rented it. Man am I happy I did. Interstate 60 was such a breath of fresh air. So many movies are the same old retreads the studio's keep running out. Not this one! Although kind of corny all the stars turn in marvelous performances. As one reviewer noted you actually do feel a part of the characters lives. All in all a movie I will never forget and I recommend Interstate 60 to everyone. By the way keep an eye out for Kurt Russell, he plays a small but hilarious role.

Summary: Very original & entertaining
Review: I had never heard of this film before I rented it and the description of it made me think it was going to be a rather generic low budget comedy, but I was pleasantly surprised. The director, Bob Gale, was the screenwriter for Back to the Future and the star of that series, Michael J. Fox, has a cameo in this far more independent and original film. When I say "original" I should qualify that by pointing out that some of the elements are common. A young man named Neal (James Marsden) wants to be an artist, but his father is pressuring him to go to law school. He is granted a wish by a magical man who is part leprachaun (Gary Oldman, who I would not have recognized if he hadn't been identified). Yet Interstate 60 takes this fairly standard light fantasy theme and weaves it into a very creative and unpredictable tale of eccentric characters and bizarre circumstances. Neal's choice of a wish is rather general: he wants answers. So he is given an 8 Ball that is uncannily accurate (though it occasionally disappoints with answers like "can't really say"). Neal is given a package to deliver to someone in a city called Danver (not Denver). He must take Route 60, which is not on any map. He is also hoping to meet his dream girl, who keeps appearing on billboards that appear blank to everyone else, and avoid a mysterious killer of whom he has been warned. Along the way he meets many unusual people, including a woman who is collecting sexual conquests, a man with an obsession for telling the truth that borders on insanity and a whole town full of people hooked on a drug called Euphoria (this episode can be seen as a cautionary parody of what might happen if drugs are legalized). He also visits a town run by lawyers where everyone is suing everyone else and a "fake" museum where the fakes are real. These descriptions, however, don't do justice to the film. The "episodes" (under the film's title at the beginning is the caption "Episodes of the Road") could have come across as heavy-handed morality tales, but here they are played out in a meandering, playful way where the outcome is never obvious. Neal's objective of reaching Danver and delivering the package is of secondary importance. Even the "answers" he finally receives at the end, which are quite obvious, are not half as important as the road he has to literally take to find them.

Review: I just rented this movie and I have to say that is one of the best movies i have ever seen. I am a huge fan of Back To The Future, so when I finally saw this movie in my local knapp video I just had to rent it. I was glued to my seat.

Summary: All Your Answers Will Be Questioned On Interstate 60
Review: I knew about this film since 2001. I was looking forward to it just reading a synopsis of it on the Back to the Future website. I was awaiting a trailer sometime in 2002, but it never came. Over time I had forgotten about it. Until the fall of 2003 when I discovered that "Interstate 60" was going straight to DVD. Now I am not gonna lie, I use to think that movies that went straight to video were not good enough for the big screen. However, after watching the movie I could now see the "black hearts and red spades" that I was conditioned not to see. Interstate 60 was not meant for a wide release. It was put here for people to find, not for "Interstate 60" to find them. Sure I could write a detailed review of the movie. But all the words and all the details could not draw this one of a kind classic film. There's a reason why this film gets mostly fantastic reviews. And the reason is that each of those people found something, or connected with the film. Just like the characters in the movie did. I can honestly say that "Interstate 60" is a movie that could motivate, and even inspire someone to achieve whatever's in their heart.

Review: I liked this movie only because of its cast.They did a excellent job in this movie. The cast include Michael J. Fox (tv's Spin City, Back To The Future movies), Gary Oldman(The Contender, Hannibal), Amy Smart(RatRace2001,Campfire Tales), James Marsden(Campfire Tales, The X-Men movies) and Mark Lutz(Tv's Angel, Dick The Movie). Oldman and Marsden are great

Summary: This is a great movie
Review: I really liked this film. It's off the wall & quirky, with some fine amusing moments & plenty to think about. It works as pure entertainment & it works on another level---either perception or both it's a worthy rental or purchase. You could look at it symbolically or just watch for fun. A definate (not preachy) reminder that the way you look at things can change what things are, on the road of your life. See if you can spot all the cameos; I found myself wondering if I might have missed some.---After a second viewing (once I bought it) I like this movie even more. Don't let the slight cheeseness up front fool you. Once it warms up this is a great movie. A very entertaining story & a good reminder; the way we look at things effects what we see.

Summary: Best movie you, never heard of
Review: I saw this movie almost 2 yrs ago at a sneak preview and was amazed how well written and acted it was. Chris Cooper should have rec'd his Oscar for his proformance in this movie. HE WAS GREAT. I don't understand why it was never released to the general public, but happy to pay the $23.00 to treat my family and friends to the movie I've raved about for 2 yrs.

Summary: Bob Gale gets back to his future
Review: I watched this movie at the Paris Film Festival and luckily met/congratulated the director Bob Gale after the movie. INTERSTATE 60 is as awesome as the treatment it received by the ungrateful international theatrical distribution.
Bob Gale (a gifted screenwriter, now definitely a gifted director) obviously knows that cinema must contain a part of enjoyment and a part of enriching thinking, and he managed in I60 to make us laugh, while telling us a captivating story full of « BACK TO THE FUTURE like » surprises.
The basic plot is actually the same than in BACK TO THE FUTURE (a young man tries to set his future) and I60 always reminds the magic of the 80's cult time travel trilogy while being a whole new fascinating story.
I profoundly think my mind has won something precious in watching this movie, and all I want now is just to watch it over and over again. Just try it, and you will see something very special coming in your life.

While INTERSTAE 60 has good intentions and is indeed interesting to watch, I kept watching and waiting for it to entice me. The premise was interesting enough and initially, the movie drew me in. However, the payoff never seemed to come. I don't know what I was expecting exactly I just know that I never felt satisfied. Also, the film boasts a cast of several talented actors, several good actors I usually love to watch, and yet good performances are hard to find (aside from Michael J. Fox in to small of a role). I don't know if that's because this is Bob Gale's first time in the director's chair or if everyone was just phoning it in. Either way, while the film does grab you and make you wonder were it's headed, it never seems to go anywhere unique or truly fascinating. I think part of the problem may be that there is too much story to tell and not enough time to tell it in. INTERSTAE 60 would be a great idea for a television series but as a movie it just doesn't always work.
