Summary: Wonderful Movie/Poor DVD
Review: I waited and waited and waited for this excellent movie to be released on a Special Edition DVD, but I finally gave up and bought it anyway as is because I love it so much. The superb performances from Hopkins and Baldwin make this one of my favorite films of all time. My only wish is to see this movie put through the rigors of a Special Edition treatment and given a few extras or at least a director's commentary. Although, I fear that will never happen. This seemingly forgotten masterpiece will go down without a fight to the pit of DVD obscurity while we see stuff like an Ultimate Edition of "Notting Hill" and "Hollow Man" Special Edition. Sad, so sad.

Summary: Kicks Butt!!
Review: Hopkins commented that this was probably the most physically demanding role he had ever played. Suspense, mystery, drama, and action...action...action! Lead and supporting acting is flawless and the moving stays real, unlike many recent action-thrillers.

It has a classic wilderness struggle feel with endless twists.
Without a doubt, 1997 Movie of the Year!

Summary: Where's the special edition?
Review: Awesome movie, no doubt about it. But I already have the VHS version, and am not going to spend ... on a no-frills DVD of this movie. Where are the extras? Commentaries? A featurette on the bear and his training for this film? When and if this film deservedly gets a specialized DVD treatment, then I will upgrade and be able to enjoy this highly recommended film on DVD.

Summary: Hopkins/Baldwin Super Duo!
Review: Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin star in this non-stop action survival tale of men stuck in the middle of the Alaska wilderness with a man-hungry, stalking bear on there tail, and nowhere to turn. Excellent scenic views of the Alaska frontier and just plain stunning action sequences make this film one of the best survival pictures ever made. Superb acting on the parts of both Hopkins and Baldwin. Hopkins, starring as the know-it-all rich guy,(As usual) takes it upon himself to pull the survivors of his plane reck into survival experts. Baldwin, as the photographer sent up to take pictures of Hopkins's star model wife, goes along for the ride. All in all, an amazing survival film, better then most or all of the genre.

Summary: The title says it all
Review: "The Edge" will keep you you on the edge of your seat, no pun intended. Unlike most action thrillers "The Edge" is tense, well acted, and clever. As always Anthony Hopkins is superb but the big suprise is Alec Baldwin who was very good in this movie. The scene where they fight the bear will have you gasping fo breath. It is too bad that this movie wasn't a huge hit in theaters, it should have been. If you get a chance rent "The Edge", you will not be dissapointed!

Summary: An excellent film!!!!!!!!
Review: There should be more survivor movies like this! Its very good! Charles Morse(Anthongy Hopkins) is a billionaire who accompanies his much younger wife, Mickey(Elle MacPherson) on a photo shoot in Alaska. After being there for a day or two Charles is convinced to go for a plane ride with Bob(Alec Baldwin), Mickey's camera man and his assistant Stephen. But the plane crashes and they land in the middle of nowhere. The three are forced to find there way home through the knowledge of Charles. There is also a subplot of Charles suspecting Bob of having an affair with Mickey. Which is nicely added in. Among other things that I like about this movie like the scenery, the plot, and the bear, I really like Hopkins' character. He is so inventive and smart. See this movie, its a guarrenteed thriller! Rated R for violence and language.

Summary: So when are you going to kill me?
Review: That's the question Anthony Hopkins asks Alec Baldwin just before their plane crashes and they are standard in the North woods in this thrilling movie, complete with a Kodiak bear, and two great performances by these two fine actors. Rather spectacular photography of the woods and it heightens the tension as these two men struggle to stay alive.
