Summary: Utterly predictible and boring!
Review: Poor George Clooney - when will he get a break? This makes several movies that have bombed that he stared in. Action is not his best kind of movie, and this was a poor excuse for an action movie all because there was so little truth to it. It must have lacked any military advise during the shooting of the film. For example, there are no night vision goggles, that I know of, that emit red lights from the front of tubes, and to the best of my knowledge,(I spent 11 years in the Army as an officer),no Light Colonel has the kind of power and authority, that Clooney had, especially at the Pentagon! The plot is very thin and Nichole Kidman is such a poor acctress, that it makes any Tom Clancy movie look like a Discovery Channel educational special. Don't waste your time with this one.

Summary: A Good Friday Night Flick
Review: The Peacemaker, while not highly original, is definetly one of the better action-thrillers to have come out in recent years. (Along with Die Hard 3 and Speed.)There are some great action sequences in this movie. But the true enjoyment of watching this film comes from watching the chemistry between Clooney and Kidman. And thankfully, the film makers don't make their developing romance a major subplot. All in all, it's a good flick.

Summary: TOTAL PIECE OF PIE
Review: Intolerable nonsense with no character in woefully miscast actors. Boring plot, butt-numbing running time and leaden direction. A very tame and utterly useless action(?) film. Never see, ever.

Summary: A Wonderful George Clooney Action/Thriller
Review: This is one of the best movies GEORGE CLOONEY has been in. I think this movie shows what a great talent he has. CLOONEY and KIDMAN have to go through a lot together to find the bomb. They are two different behaved people who get thrown together, but end up making a great team and start to like each other.

Summary: A very very fresh, entertaining, and smart movie.
Review: I was blown away by this movie when I first saw it on video. It blew me away because I expected a very bad movie. I loved it! It strayed from formula{a big plus in the movie world}, had a rather intelligent script, and the acting, especially by Clooney, was surprisingly good. Now to the DVD. The picture is one of the best I have seen with NO OBVIOUS PICTURE DISTORATION. The sound is amazing. Pump up those speakers during the helicopter scenes for a real thrill! Most DVD's today come with few extras, especially in a movie like this. However, this disc is pretty packed. It has the trailer{of course} and the teaser. That's the basic stuff though. It has stunt footage, production notes, biographies, and a short{but sweet} making of reel. I think it is a great buy if you want some suprisingly realistic and great entertainment.

Summary: Non stop action with no wisecracks
Review: As far as action movies go,"The Peacemaker" is one of the top of the year. The dialouge is smart, the characters interesting, and the plot never stops for unfunny wisecracks or uninteresting romantic liasons. Clooney finally pays off all the people that have said he could be a more interesting action hero than Bruce Willis with a no nonsence performance that packs a punch. With five great action scenes held together with a solid story the movie is a true crowd pleaser. Also, the disc is in the anamorphic format as well as 5.1 digital sound, so it is a must any home theater fanatic.

Summary: Edge of your seat action thriller
Review: From the opening seconds until the final minutes, you will be on the edge of your seat in this non-stop hi-tech political- military intrigue action thriller.

My one disappointment is I cannot find the soundtrack. If anyone knows if this has been released and where I could find it, please let me know.

Summary: George Clooney in an action packed thriller!
Review: This was the first picture released by DreamWorks SKG studio. George Clooney plays American Col.Tom Devoe who teams up with Dr. Julia Kelley (Nicole Kidman) to stop a maniac who has stolen a nuclear warhead and is threatening to detonate it in Manhatten. I thought the beginning was a little slow, but after the first 15-20 minutes, things got rocking and this movie had me perched on the edge of my seat for the duration! No romance in this one, but Clooney does look mighty fine in a uniform! END

Summary: Excuse me I hate to keep interrupting
Review: While 1997's prescient "Peacemaker" is a piercing wakeup call with early echoes of 9-11 and weapons of mass destruction, it is also an instrument of propaganda that could easily have oozed out of America's trigger-happy military-industrial complex. But it also goes beyond both of these cliches to try to achieve an understanding of the subverted forces fighting each other in our ever churning world.

Politics not withstanding, this is just about the finest, tightest thriller I have ever seen, and extremely fast paced. It was Dreamworks' first major thriller, a home run that vaults way out of the ballpark! They did it right. Congratulations to Mimi Leder for a first rate job. Among the many German crew members, Hans Zimmer's score is one of his best. Or anyone's best, complete with full choir.

From first frame to last, Peacemaker is a film of razor-sharp pacing, superb casting, spectacular stunts, and incredible locations. It stimulates the brain on the most primitive and sophisticated levels, as the best films should -- a sensory delight of sound, music, facial expressions, graphic action, and delightful camerawork, and crisp and often funny use of language.

I found this film totally believable. From a standpoint of cast, script, and score, we clearly have here a labor of love.

First, let's talk about George Clooney as Lt. Colonel Tom Devoe. Clooney's never been in anything this good before or since. Mimi Leder brings out the best in George. His role summons superlative comparisons such as Alec Baldwin in Red October. Or William Shatner as Captain Kirk. Will the feat ever be repeated? Heroes like this don't come along every day.

Clooney is in his element, whether screaming expletives into a helicopter radio, or testifying before a congressional committee.

I nominate Clooney's peak moments in the film were when he 1) "excuse me I hate to keep interrupting" in the congressional briefing and 2) when he captures those warheads on the Russian bridge. Righteous! He has the most important neck of any actor in Hollywood, living or dead.

Kidman, with her sharp, aggressive, professional feminity, lights up the screen! Sorry, there just wasn't time for romance or love in this life-threatening story.

From the moody richness of a a train chugging through the dark Ukrainian forest, to the crowded streets of New York, Peacemaker is rich in imagery and texture.

Look closely. There are no extras. Nothing is generic or stock. Everyone on the screen, from lead actor to those many people in the background, render perfectly convincing performances! Even minor non-speaking roles were delivered with utter authenticity.

After the sensational Mercedes car chase in Vienna and the helicopter pursuit in Russia, the pursuit of Bosnian diplomat Dusan Gavrich in the streets of New York brings the film to it's desparate climax.

The only thing I found hokey and overblown was when the Russian General Aleksandr Kodoroff first steps out of his vehicle in the smoky train station; it seemed rather staged.

But forget that. This is one of the best thrillers ever made. Intelligent, thought provoking, and precise.

Summary: The most enjoyable action/thriller since "Air Force One"
Review: This first film by Dreamworks delivers as an engrossing thriller. While it does wait a bit too long to "grip" its audience, the first part of the film still keeps the viewer's attention; and once the action starts, it doesn't stop until the rolling of the end credits. I particularly enjoyed the last thirty minutes--some of the most exciting sequence of events I have ever seen in a film. Clooney and Kidman, while not great, are believable in their roles. The soundtrack by Hans Zimmer could have been better (like his work in "The Rock"), but there are still a few instances of stirring music. With plot elements reminiscent of a 007 movie, "The Peacemaker" provides much more excitement than Bond ever could. END
