Summary: Batman "Whatever"
Review: Batman Forever is cartoonish, silly and filled with shallow performances. Val Kilmer replaces Michael Keaton as Batman. He turns in a souless performance, a complete walk through. Chris O'Donnell is the only spark of interest in the film as Robin. The rest of the characters include Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face and Jim Carrey as The Riddler.Under the direction of Joel Schumacher, the Batman entry looks like it's based on the campy Adam West series rather than the brooding Dark Night of the comics. The emphasis here is on flashy sets and comic one liners. This is the first dent in the Batman series and it only gets worse from here.

Review: Many people say this and Batman & Robin are the worst of the series, well I think they are a whole lot better than that Micheal Keaton trash that came before it! Val Kilmer is the best Batman yet, Tommy Lee Jones was hilarious as Two-Face, Jim Carrey was perfect as the Riddler (I can't believe they almost went with Robin Williams on that role, don't get me wrong, he's funny and all, but the thought of him in spandex makes me shudder!), and Chris O'Donnell was brilliant as Robin! I was lucky I saw this before the first two, for if I saw what came before it, I would have missed this entirly!

Summary: Worth seeing
Review: This is the second best Batman film after the grrreat Batman & Robin. Joel Schumacher's direction is sharp, and the screenplay is well-written. Val Kilmer has the charisma and humor that Michael Keaton needed yet still isn't as good. Slightly better than George Clooney. Tommy Lee Jones is a great Two-Face and could have been the only villain. Jim Carrey is entertaining as the Riddler and could also have been the only villain but would have needed to play his character differently. However, one thing that I enjoyed about these villains was they had a sort of rivalry. Who REALLY runs the show? After all, after the Riddler's invention of "the Box" at the big party it appeared the Riddler was Batman's chief villain. But then it seemed as if Two-Face was jealous and crashed the party though he should have "pre-sold the movie rights" as Carrey put it. However, in my opinion Two-Face should have been the only villain because Carrey would still probably have played the Riddler in the same goofy way. Nicole Kidman is okay as Dr. Chase Meridian. Chris O' Donnell is annoying as Robin. The action scenes are entertaining, especially the opening, and I love all the new vehicles, especially the redesigned Batmobile and the Bat Boat. The VERY special effects are incredible by John Dykstra, and when I first watched this on DVD, the sound blew me away! Guess that's why it got an Oscar nomination for it. The photography is interesting and well-done. A great film.

Summary: Return to Grace for the Batman Franchise
Review: The Bob Kane Franchise returns to grace in Batman Forever. This fast paced, adrenaline powered installment features a new Dark Knight and The Riddler. Val Kilmer brings a malevolent dupilicity to Batman and a suave, introspective flair to Bruce Wayne. His portrayal of the Dark Knight is closest to Bob Kane's vision of Batman. Jim Carrey is practically over the top yet extremely entertaining as Batman's nemesis. Although the movie itself is a success, the DVD offers little extra. The infamous deleted scenes (a number of them) were not included in any capacity and the trailer was missing too. To conclude, an outstanding movie but little extra... when is the director's cut coming out?

Summary: really awesome and special fx's rule!
Review: Okay, this isn't anything like Batman or the best Batman film, Batman Returns. It is like the James Bond films going from the serious, dark, ON Her Majesty's secret service to the dazzling, colrful, witty diamonds Are Forever. Batman Forever it fun, colorful, and action-packed. Two-Face and the Riddler are great villains, and I love Val kilmer and and chris o'donnel as Batman and robin. The sets are lavish and amazing, especially Claw Island. Special effects and sound are amazing. Cinematography is imaginative and interesting. The action scenes are crowd-pleasing and very entertaining. Nicole Kidman is sexy, and the music and soundtrack are good. Overall, very much worth seeing!

Summary: Good, but not better than Batman.
Review: Decent movie, nice background colors, rather erratic music, and overly done. Why is this movie not the best Batman film? Simple, acting is not great enough. Second, Val Kilmer is not suitable for a Batman character, whereas Michael Keaton fitted the character just better. Above all the greatest reason why Batman(1989) outduels this one is the superior performance of Mr. Jack Nicholson. Tommy Lee Jones can act, but he is not of Jack Nicholson caliber. Further, Jim Carrey is a helpless comical clown, no personality, no acting class. Good movie, but not excellent, why? Poor actors, nevertheless Nicole Kidman was probably the only good particle added to this sequel.

Summary: No no no no no no no no no no no no
Review: Here's how this movie can go up to 2 or even three stars - consider it a Jim Carrey movie and fast forward through every single oter scene in the thing. Val Kilmer in one of his dullest roles ever bores the audience to death in a plot that isn't a plot so much as a series of things that happen before that final fight scene. Action movie screenwriter machines have broken severely when things like this can be released into the public. Tommy Lee Jones is awful as Two Face. He growls the entire way. ONe is left wondering why Billy Dee Williams doesn't get to play Two Face in the post-burn Harvey Dent since it would have been nicely established from the first movie. Instead Jones had more box office potential and someone must have told him that he didn't have to work too hard and he didn't. Besides that there's nothing to recommend this movie ovre any other movie of the same genre and it's a very long 2 and a half hours.

Summary: Either you like it or you don't!
Review: When I talk to my friends about the "Batman" movies, and if they like "Batman Forever" or not, it comes out as either they like it or they don't. This is not my favorite "Batman" movie. Mine is probably the first one, this one comes off as some sort of Jim Carrey wanna be movie in the realm of "Ace Ventura". Why? Well, casting is okay, Tommy Lee Jones and Nichole Kidman portray their characters well. Val Kilmer looks too much the playboy to be a good Batman. A lot of the "Dark" in "Dark Knight" was lost in this movie. I'm a Batman fan, but I wasn't suffering because we had gone 2 movies and hadn't seen Robin. Not that Chris O'Donnell was bad, but Batman had Robin as a sidekick, not a partner because Batman is a very seperated and dark character, even from his butler Alfred (Also, I love Alfred in all of the movies, he's kinda like the Q in the James Bond movies). Maybe that is why he can't hold down a relationship. The parts where we try to get into Batman's problems comes off as corney because Batman doesn't seem to be strugeling with anything in himself, he's just trying to tell Nichole Kidman that he's Batman. Above all else, Jim Carrey stole the show and that is why a majority of people went to see the movie. Plus everything is just too flashy and neon colored to give the sense of darkness that Tim Burton's Gotham gave off and is in the comic books. After this movie, I need a shower to clean off the dirty sticky feeling that it gives. I hoped that the movie following this would be better... but that was the hope beyond hope.

Summary: What happened?
Review: It's amazing how much damage Joel Schumacher was able to do to the film. Unlike the first two films where the characters were fairly deep, the characters in Batman Forever are boring and one-dimensional. Jim Carry is the only bright spot. This isn't helped by the terrible script. Schumacher tries to make the film bright and flashy but ends up just making a very campy looking film with high production values. The Batman series was ment to be dark(even in the comics) and Schumacher shouldn't have tampered with it. The only good thing about the film is a great soundtrack but it in no way makes up for this lousy movie.

Review: Although this film did lighten things up a bit, it still remains a pretty dark Batman film. Here Batman's ablities as a detecive are given the spotlight as Val Kilmer gives a good performance as Batman. Jim Carry makes a good Riddler. Also good performances by Nicole Kidman, Chris O" Donnel, Michael Gough, Pat Hingle, and Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face. Bob Kane (Batman's creator) as a camero apperance as a Gothom City reporter. Pretty good musical score composed by Elliot Goldenthall. Produced by Tim Burton. Screenplay by Lee Batcher and Janet Scott Batcher.
