Summary: At least it's not Apocalypse now
Review: I give this movie 1 star and 1 star only. 2 reasons. It's the lowest one you can pick, 2, at least someone tried to improve the name or image of Vietnam vets to biased crowd durring the war. Not a good representation of the Vietnam war, but thanks for trying Duke

Summary: Men Of True Valor and Courage!
Review: I was 8 years old when this movie first came out, and remember my brother-in-law watching it with my father on tv. My brother-in-law was in Special Forces, and to this day; no other group of people means more to me than those of: THE US SPECIAL FORCES! Especially the people who fought in Vietnam! This video truly and honorably gives great respect and will always serve as a reminder of those brave men who fought in this : elite-of elite" outfits in Southeast Asia! This video each time I see it, always reminds me of those brave men who so courageously fought there, and gave of themselves ; so that we may always have our freedom and the pursuit of : life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, always, here in America! I will always respect and admire you all in Special Forces always, all of my life! God Bless You All!

Summary: The Duke at his Best
Review: Just another in a long line of great John Wayne movies. After all the propoganda about Vietnam it is good to see someone try and portray the soldiers that went to Vietnam because it was their duty. They did the best that they could. They believed it was the right thing to do. This in no way takes away from those who found something different in Vietnam. It was a sad and difficult period for America. But, the Duke hit a home run once again.

Summary: P-U!
Review: I like the Duke, but this is a real stinker...the kind of schlock Chuck Norris has made a career of.

Summary: Old timer
Review: They broke the mold when wayne died. Enactment of Marines, Soldiers,Airmen, and Naval personnel was top notch. Very authentic and especially of firebases.I don't think any actor today could have beat him.

Summary: My favorite John Wayne movie!
Review: Well I have seen many John Wayne movies, but none in my mind compare to The Green Berets. I own and have watched The Green Berets countless times. This movie is so good for numerous amounts of reasons. John Wayne of course makes the movie 5 times as good but even without him The Green Berets would still be good. I admit the graphics and effects were a bit chhesy but I still love this film. The Green Berets also has a group of great actors besides John Wayne. I would not say that The Green Berets is historically correct but I am sure that it is a little. I would recomend this movie to anyone that first od course likes John Wayne and secondly that likes a good classic old Vietnam or any good'ol war movie. Thank you for your time and hopefully I have been just a little bit helpful!

Summary: Great Propaganda Film!
Review: This is propaganda at its best! America's role in Vietnam is never under question - they're there to preserve the world from the communism threat.

Filmed during the war, it answers any criticisms glibly and its portrayal of the media is harsh. All these newspaper reporters and media men don't really know what's going on because they've never been there. If in doubt, trust the government, not the media.

Moreover, the soldiers really WANT to be there. They are committed, they are well trained, they are everything good about America. The focus on the Green Berets - the cream of America's fighting force - is supposed to represent the whole. The rest may not be able to be so well trained and brave, but they are, in some ways, represented in the Green Berets.

Given the result of the war and the social divide it caused in America, the movie has aged badly. As an example of unabashed, unthinking propaganda, it is priceless!

Summary: Jingoism at its best!
Review: What can I say--this is one of my guilty pleasures. For some reason I've always liked this movie. It's the only Vietnam war movie that I do really like. Quite frankly, I never knew about the sunset, or even care that some or maybe even a lot of the technical aspects of the film aren't accurate. I just love the cookie cutter characters, clean cut American boys, a cute little orphan boy and the cynical American seargent who looks after him and a gung-ho Duke at his best. The final scene is such a tear jerker--you just can't believe litte Hamchuck's (sp?) Peter-san won't be coming back. Another reviewer called this Disneyesque and I guess maybe that's why this is a perennial favorite with TV and video viewers.

Summary: WWII look on a Vietnam war
Review: I hated this movie. The acting ain't the best, and it is totally propoganda. In this movie, you don't see one M-60 machine gun or M-79 40mm granade launcher. Those were vital tools of the trade! They were given to every squad! I may not have been there, but I read enough books, watched enough movies and documentries, and listend to enough Vietnam Vets to know somewhat on what it was really like. If you are interested in Vietnam, don't get this movie, it will disapoint you. If you like WWII movies, you will like this.

Summary: The DUKE!
Review: A tribute to simple courage, boundless idealism, and heartfelt patriotism. It reminds me of this year's best-seller, The Triumph and the Glory', each displays the above qualities without reservation and with no excuses to the cult of political correctness.
