Summary: Top thriller I have ever scene , my favorite movie ever
Review: The Jackal had not to much of an effect on me because I like the bloody crimanal violence that it has in it. Bruce Willis is usually the good guy but I am glad to see him be the assin or the 'bad guy'. My favorite scene is when the guy gets shot at through the stairs I thought it was funny. But I am angry that the good guys always win . If I produced a movie I would make the bad guy[s] win. I think it would be a million seller. People should think about the aduience a movie with the killer always winning, it would probally be sold-out at the theater every night , plus it would make a lot of money .

Review: This movie has lots of excitement and action. The character played out by Bruce Willis as a hired assassin was terrific.I would recommend this movie to anyone, this movie gives a good look at what professional assassination is all about, and the role played by Richard Gear as an ex-Irish assassin was awsome too.

Summary: BRUCE IS GREAT, NOT SURE ABOUT GERE THOUGH
Review: Bruce Willis does an excellent job of being a blank assassin but Richard Gere is not very convincing as an Irishman. No hollywood actors are. Why don't they get an Irishman to play an Irishman. It's simple logic. That aside it is a very good action movie. Why people complain about it so often is bewildering.

Review: I really expected more from this "thriller". I call it a "thriller" in quotation marks because it is in that genre. Really, though, the film does not have that effect. Halfway through the film, things get boring and never picks up until the final scenes. Instead of using true true suspense, The Jackal resots to violence that is both bloody and unnecessary. Usually, I feel that the more violence the better, but it should never be used to fill loop holes in a weak and pretentious story. And maybe it's just me, but I did not get some of the plot twists in this movie. Bottom line, The only reason it should be seen is if its a weekend night and there's nothing left at the video stroe. Otherwise, skip it, and you won't miss a thing.

Review: In the original, the world had barely heard of "the Jackal". The new movie is set in the present with overt holes in validity. The nickname was given to him by the public, not his own choice. His name (check any relevent reference in the U.S. or the web) is Carlos 'Ilich' Sanchez and is far from unknown to the FBI or the KGB (who trained him). In the early 70's he was an unknown quantity; nowadays he's common. This hasn't altered his effectiveness, although he's probably retired recently. I'm not usually an authenticity maven over non-documentary entertainment except when they're using real people who they have more than enough information on...get some imagination and write a screenplay around that. The only worse act is when they do a movie like "Starship Troopers" or "Bram Stoker's Dracula" which, instead of being labeled 'based-on-the-book' or even 'loosely-based-on-the-book', should be labeled 'uses-the-same-title-as-the-book'. (the opening scenes of "...Dracula" were fine in that they were clearly, wholely outside the story in the book)

Summary: Done much better in 1972
Review: I was not present at the deliberations of the committee that manufactured this movie. But I think their decisions were guided by two principles: eschew originality and embrace cliche. And they held to these principles with an admirable consistency, even at the expense of entertainment and coherence. If you like drama, tension, and intelligence more than you like armor-piercing incendiary ordnance and computer technology, then see 1972's Day of the Jackal. It is still entertaining after all these years.

Review: Willis preens around in various disguises making sure he doesn't smile, Gere gets to try out his Irish accent. Mean-spirited, uninteresting and a complete waste of time. Get the original instead.

Review: As far as action movies go, this is a better one. Bruce Willis did a great job of playing the heartless, no feeling, stonefaced bad guy. Never a smile, always focused. The story was very well written, and I am not an action movie fan. Richard Gere also does a great job with the Irish accent. This is action packed, and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end. Forget Arnold, Bruce & Richard steal the action hero titles! I only buy the DVD's that I know that I will watch again, and this is one of them. I will watch this for a long time to come. END
