Rating: Summary: Great movie especially for those who are fans of the games Review: I haven't seen this on home video, but on TV recently, which I thought was great, except that there wasn't so much based on the game. Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo are Mario and Luigi, which is OK. There is a Princess named Daisy, not Toadstool. King Koopa is human, not a reptile. Also, there were no fire flowers nor were there any invincibility stars. If you like the games, you will love this movie. I hope to see it on DVD.
Rating: Summary: One of the worst movies ever made! Review: OK, I'm not going to get into this movie's lack of similarities to the video games;this movie just plain sucks. I can't see why anybody over the age of twelve can enjoy this piece of you know what. Come on, this movie has horrible acting, a dreadfully bad story and "hilariously" unfunny jokes. I think you people who gave this movie five stars really need professional help, 'cause one star is far too generous. I'm not saying all the media incarnations of mario sucked;the cartoons were actually pretty good. But this movie, in my opinion is what caused that chain of cartoons to end.
Rating: Summary: Could have been a little more like the game. Review: No I don't mean you should have a movie about two guys jumping on things, I mean you could have made it a game with original character and item designs. Sure some parts of this movie represented things from the game (examples: the fire guns/Fire Flowers, the mushroom that protected Mario from the De-Evolution gun/1up Mushroom, the Stomper boots/Mario and Luigi's famous jumping talents, the metal thing that Koopa fell into/the Koopa Copter). But what I'm saying is that you should take the story from the first video game, evolve it (not too much) into something you can make a movie out of, get more characters from the game like Koopa Troopas (even though some of the Goombas resembled Koopa Troopas) and the Hammer Bros., if the movie goes into a sequal, then use elements from Super Mario Bros. 3 (forget Mario Bros. 2 because that game was pointless), and fianaly if the movie turns into a trilogy you can use Yoshi and other things from Super Mario World. Beside all of this, I think they did a good job on this movie, a story that is below believable, but not too unbelievable, a plot that will keep you interested, and laugh-out-loud humor! A good movie, but it's for people who can deal with the changes.
Rating: Summary: Funny Review: I'm surprised this movie was rated so recently, it was out in 1993 and rated 1999 and 2000, anyway. I saw this when it came out and saw it later, 7 years later to be exact. It was halarious, mostly the goombas, those tiny heads are so funny! It might have been better if things could be more like the game, but if it were it would probably lose alot in the translation, and like a contapositive of a statement means the same thing, the translation to movie and the translation of things like goombas, they even out for a pretty good movie. I now have a great urge to play Mario games, i saw it 1/2 hour ago. Too bad I won't be able to watch it again, I remember so little from the begining.
Rating: Summary: Man ,this last guy who submitted a review YOU ARE IMMATURE! Review: all right the movie was great!everybody who said it's not based onthe video game well would you like a movie where there's Mario and Luigi jumping on goombas thats stupid so the movie had a plot and whoever said it had no plot yes it did!Daisy gets kidnapped by Koopa and the Mario bros. have to save her.And someguy said no fire flowers and all the stuff from the game Think! They were not in any of the worlds from the game They were in another dimension where they had other weopons Ok and the movie was funny and had action too well gotta go bye
Rating: Summary: NOTHING like the video game Review: I don't see how anybody who is familiar with the Super Mario Bros. video games could like this movie. I grew up playing the games, so I was anticipating to see this movie more than I was just about any other. While I was watching it, I found out that it is not at all inspired from the video games except for that it got the characters' names from it. In the video game, King Koopa (Bowser) is not a human, Mario and Luigi do not get kidnapped by cops, and King Koopa is not dying to have a necklace. That is not all that's wrong with the movie. You can tell all the dinosaurs are fake, its plot is not interesting, and it's not funny when it tries to be.If you're a fan of the Super Mario Bros. video games and you know them well, you will be majorly disappointed with this movie. It won't be what you expect it to be.
Rating: Summary: WORST FILM OF ALL FREAKIN TIME!!! Review: Let me get straight to the point. This was a sorry excuse for a movie! The actual storyline for the game and the storyline for the movie wasn't similar even in the least! This movie was a freakin disgrace to the true Mario brothers themselves! To all of you people out there that gave this movie 5 stars I recommend you to get a CAT scan!!! If you didn't understand this statement, allow me to explain it to you..."GET YOUR FREAKIN HEAD'S EXAMINED!!!!"I think that all of the producers that helped to produce this sorry excuse for a movie should get fired and never set foot in the movie industry AGAIN!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Terrible with a capital T Review: This movie was screwed up all kind of ways.It wasn t even like the video game or even the cartoon. For example,King Kopa didn t look like how he supposed to be and the storyline seem like it was written by a 4 year old.I wonder if the director was on drugs while he was making this so called movie. To all the people that didnt see this movie, you don t need to because you will regret it.Its so bad that it will be perfect to be shown on MST3K.
Rating: Summary: Best Movie Ever! Review: I think it is a VERY cute movie very movie good for kids ,fun and great visual effects and actors! A must see!
Rating: Summary: FUNNY Review: My buudy and I laughed our heads off when Mario said "Get your belt on kid, were goin' in" with a scratchy voice. Also when Koopa turned aroung quickly and seriously said Plumber Alert...
