Summary: Oh, no. Not ANOTHER one.
Review: See my review for BATMAN. This is more of the same, only even worse. However, it has Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman. She single-handedly elevates this into almost worth watching. I still love her, even though this and FRANKIE AND JOHNNY are her two really good roles...and THE RUSSIA HOUSE.

Summary: True Art! Disturbingly beautiful!
Review: I own all four Batman DVDs and this one is my favorite. If the story of Catwoman was not pulled from the files of some real-life psychiatrist I'll eat her shiny, black stilettos! This may be my favorite of all movies, along with the first installment, neither of which ever degrade into campy humor (if you think there's laughs look again!). Grim, dark, cold, ruthless . . . Manhattan without the cocktails! This is what moviemaking is all about! I love this movie! I don't particularly care for the "family fun" atmosphere of the two that followed it though. Get rid of the kiddies with the growing pains and get back to the adults with the damaged brains, filmfolks! To all involved with the making of the first two Batman flix, Thank You Verrrrry Much!

Summary: Many Pluses make up for many minuses
Review: The worst part of the film is that it didn't have a good script. Still it remains the best Batman due to the stellar Tim Burton Mood. Gotham is at it's greatest, and creepiest in this film, and I love it. It's a macrabe snow-covered paradise, and the Penguin is the perfect villan to match it. Catwoman's appearence is certainly entertaining and interesting, but never swelled to the character development I had hoped for. Chris Walken was great as Max. And Keaton did a fine, if unremarkable job as Batman. So many great characters combined with Burtons mood, and Danny Elfman's best score ever could have made for a really great movie. But the extremely poor script gave the characters too much to do. They did too much without enough character evolution. Still the movie, however flawed, is fun to watch and still the best Batman. Losing Burton is the biggest mistake Warner Brothers could have made. Now, we have the same dumb scripts with out worthwhile atmosphere and music. The new films are like bad comicbooks, where as the old ones were like flawed masterpieces.

Summary: four and a half stars.
Review: Though this is the best of all the batman movies, I still can't give it five stars. There were just too many sub-plots for (screenplay writer) Daniel Waters to tie together in its 126 minutes of screen time. True, Tim Burton created a darker atmosphere than his first Batman film, but just how seriously can you take an army of penguins with candy- cane missils tied to there backs? The other thing that saves this movie is Michelle Pfeiffer's role as catwoman. Her relationship with Michael Keaton's Batman was five times more interesting than Kim Basingers helpless character. In fact,I seem to remember rumours that they were considering a Catwoman movie with her as the star.I must stress that if you like your Batman "campy" the first two movies aren't for you .All in all, this second movie was Batmans shining moment in tinsle town.

Summary: No monocle or cigrarette holder drives me nuts
Review: It absolutely drives me crazy that the Penguin didn't have his monocle or cigarette holder except for three tiny, barely memorable scenes...I didn't mind that the Penguin was darker and had flippers, ...but why did they leave out the monocle? Doesn't that bother anyone else? Don't you think he would have looked more sinister and forboding with that single lens? I know I'm obsessed, but I can't help it...I wish they would go over the footage and computer-generate that damn monocle...Two stars two represent my anger over leaving out the monocle and cigarette holder...

Summary: The best of the series!
Review: Batman was a really great film. I couldn't wait for its sequel, and I wasn't disappointed. As soon as we first saw Catwoman, this movie became my favorite of the four Bat-movies (Batman and Robin really SUCKS!) I love the two villains (especially Catwoman; she is so sexy, much better than Poison Ivy! Bring her back for #5!), Michael Keaton is the best Batman by far, the Batmobile looks really cool, and the music is TERRIFIC! Tim Burton is a genius. I recommend this movie to anyone who likes Batman. But whatever you do, do NOT see Batman and Robin. I won't even start on why I despise it.

Summary: Hmmmm...
Review: You know what really bothers me about this movie? It has so much going for it, and it wastes it. In fact, there's what's wrong: it has TOO much. Period. This movie started a nasty trend of 2 villains per movie (which simply proves how brilliant the exec's are. "Hey! Let's kill off all our top villains right after we use 'em! People like the Joker, but nuts to them! He's dead!"), and another trend of one villain being grossly over shadowed and wasted. In this case, the over shadowed villain is the BEST PART of the movie: Catwoman. I never really cared too much for Ms. Kyle before this movie, but Pfieffer's performance is amazing, sexy, and dangerous all at once. Keaton walks through as Batman. Why do people think he was the best one? The truth is there hasn't been a really good one yet. I honestly believe that if Clooney had been given a chance with something decent, he could have pulled it off. Anyway, Penguin is a case of too much too often, and it drags us down every time we watch. And yet, I keep watching. It's a fascinating mistake movie. The film version of a space ship crashing. It's amazing! (then) What happened?

Summary: Great bat-fun!
Review: a deep, intelligent film that is more thoughtful than the first. Rather than the constant action of the first film and the flashy-cartoon-disco effect of the last two, this film delivers great character development of its two villains. Though batman is developed no more here than in the first film, batman is supposed to be a dark character who is shrouded in mystery. Batman isn't really developed until the third film by Joel Shumacher. However this is the best of the four...easily

Review: Tim Burton's worst movie, hands down. It's visually interesting, but that's about all. Batman himself seems like a secondary character in this sequel, and unfortunately I couldn't get into Danny Devito very much. He plays the role well, I suppose, but the story is awfully flimsy and there just isn't much to latch onto here. I will say that Michelle Pfiefer ... oh my ... I had a crush on her for months after seeing this for the first time. And it isn't just the skin-tight leather outfit (although it sure helped.) My. But in any case, watching her was the only redeemable distraction I could find in this disappointingly poor movie.
