Summary: An All Time Favorite
Review: This movie is one of my all-time favorite movies. I seen it as I was a little kid - it's definately safe, as long as you're not offended by pure imagination ;) - and I have never stopped loving this movie. I'm 21 today and I would completely enjoy watching this.

The Never Ending Story, Labrynith, Legend, and The Dark Crystal. These are beautiful movies, beautiful stories, and the way a good story and movie should be. Definately, by all means, get your kids (and yourself) these movies. They will never be forgotten!

Summary: not traditional muppets, but well done
Review: This is not a tradition muppet caper. It is darker and for older children or adults. I bought this with a youngster in mind. It was a good story but I think that it is too scary for real young children. I will keep it and let him watch it when I think he is old enough. For now, we will stick with Kermit and Miss Piggy.

Summary: When single shines the triple sun.....
Review: This mystical tale of the timeless battle between good and evil will appeal to kids and adults alike. I first saw this movie when it was in theaters and I enjoy it just as much today as I did then. Co-directors the late great Jim Henson (Lord rest his soul) and Frank Oz brought us a world of wonder, magic, and mysticism. Certainly a ground-breaker, to say the least, this movie led the way in innovative puppeteering technology. The DVD contains some supplemental material, incuding an exclusive one-hour behind-the-scenes peek at how Henson and Oz brought their visions to life. It is a very entertaining movie that makes one think about oneself. It is captivating, enchanting, and enthralling. In fact, I would give it SIX stars if I could, but there is a maximum of only five stars. If you were a fan of this movie when it first came out, buy it on DVD and your money will definitely be well-spent.

Summary: THIS DVD IS PERFECT IN EVERY WAY
Review: I've seen some other reviews here criticizing the color quality of this DVD. Those reviewers are on crack. The colors of this DVD are absolutely stunning, and are truly the way the filmmakers wanted them to be. The previous laserdisc and video versions were muted and distorted, and it is those previous versions of the movie to which this DVD is being compared. The DVD is far superior. As for sound quality, it is as excellent as it could be considering the time (1982) when the film was released. We didn't have surround sound digital whatever back then. The isolated score is, in fact, included on the disc -- and boy is it beautiful. My favorite way to watch the movie is actually with ONLY the music score playing. The imagery and music play together in perfect synch and convey the story without the need of any dialogue or sound effects. If you love the DARK CRYSTAL, buy this DVD -- you will NOT be sorry. If you love the DARK CRYSTAL and don't have a DVD player -- GET ONE!

Summary: LOVE THIS MOVIE!!
Review: I really love this movie, and I can see it as a great book, but I cant seem to find out who wrote it...anyway, I really love it, and it's great for those parents who want to give something to their kids to see; watch out with the smaller ones, though, because the Skeksies (sp???) and their minions are a little creepy...Have fun! ^_^

Summary: The Dark Crystal: A feast for the eyes and ears.
Review: All I can say about this DVD is WOW!!!! This DVD FINALLY has everything we've been asking for, the cut footage and the work print footage, as well as an isolated audio track. Oh, and to get the audio track to work, click on the Isolated Audio track option on the menu, then click the Start Movie option in the main menu to start the film. I remember seeing The Dark Crystal on HBO WAAAAAYYYY back in the early 1980s and it blew me away. Over 10 years later, I rediscovered The Dark Crystal on VHS and was once amazed at the world Jim Henson and Brian Froud created. Now, after years of begging The Jim Henson Company to re-release the rare 1990 Image Laserdisc edition of the Dark Crystal (Rumor has it that Jim Henson himself personnaly supervised the Laserdisc edition before he died), we finally have the Dark Crystal on DVD. Now I know some people out there are crying over the colors and audio on the film. Yes, I admit it could be improved some what......but who cares. To me, this editon has better quality than the old Disney version that was released back in 1994. Anyway this is THE definative edition of the Dark Crystal I will cherish forever. Now if only we could know if that Dark Crystal prequel rumor is true..........

Summary: Decent, but not the same as in childhood
Review: I was disappointed in the movie basically because I loved it so much as an 9 year old I thought it would be just as good now. It isn't. Not to mention I felt as if the colors were not very well transfered to DVD.
