Review: This film delivered!!!!!!! It was not overly done and left us wanting more web slinging. I can't wait til the next one. If they keep this quality up I can see 4 movies made before Tobey retires the title. Hopefully they will keep Joel Schumacker away from it as we saw what he did to the terrific BATMAN franchise. Way to go Spidey!!!!!

Summary: Suprise Suprise
Review: I never was into the comics and spiderman with all those characters so I really didn't want to see it, but everyone said it was good and it was getting amazing reviews, I had nothing to lose except $[money], I came out of the theatre in disbelief and instantly I was attached, I wanted to know more about a sequal. It was one of the best movies I have ever seen, it is not all action with no storyline, I was suprised that there was even a storyline and it was a very good one, having Kirsten Dunst in the movie also was a big plus, can't wait until it comes out on DVD and the sequal!

Summary: 4 stars for seeing the microphone a couple times in it !
Review: First of all - I like Sam Raimi very much. He's a guy who knows directing since Evil Dead 1. He also knows - and we all can be lucky for that - how to deliver a great SpiderMan movie to the comic book fans and to those who are new to this charakter. Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco and Willem dafoe are a marvelous and best fitting cast in the SpiderMan movie. The first time I saw the movie I was fascinated by the actors. Willem Dafoe seemed to have extended his experience from playing in "Shadow Of The Vampire" in a charismatic and physical way. Tobey Maguire will become the next big actor because he really can play and is the one actor for the role of Peter Parker. And same is with Kirsten Dunst. Loving her acting talent since "Interview with.." she really blew me away as M.J. Watson.
Great special fx, storyline well adapted and improved, fast pacing and great Raimi cameos. Bruce Campbell as Ring Announcer, Ted Raimi as Reporter (there's also a great J.J. Jameson in the movie by the way) and Spidey-creator Stan Lee saves the day for a little girl under the attack of the Green Goblin. Only one thing robbed some of the illusion a couple (!!!) of times. I counted three appearences of the set microphone in the movie, others say four. WHY ??? There are Computers that can erase these mistakes. But go ahead, see SpiderMan and hope the sequel is in the works already. Feel fine with the end of the movie and wish for Sam Raimi to direct all of the sequels. And cut out those mics on the DVD ! Director's Cut please !

Summary: One of the best superhero films
Review: Director Sam Raimi has done a superb job in bringing a beloved comic book character to life in "Spider-Man." In the film Tobey Maguire stars as Peter Parker, a New York City high school senior. An unpopular nerd, Peter is bitten by a mutant spider and soon develops spider-like super powers: the ability to climb up walls, shoot webs from his wrists, etc. Adopting the superhero identity of Spider-Man, Peter ultimately must battle a deranged criminal known as the Green Goblin.

"Spider-Man" succeeds on many levels. First of all, Maguire is superb in the pivotal title role. He is a vulnerable and likeable hero for whom the audience can really cheer. The rest of the cast is right up to Maguire's high standards. Kirsten Dunst, as the girl loved by Peter, has a sweet, tender chemistry with Maguire; the romance is believable and well balanced with the other story elements.

The special effects and action sequences really sent chills up my back. But the effects never overwhelm the film; they are always in the service of story and character development. The well-paced script has plenty of excitement and just the right amount of witty humor (the first appearance of Spider-Man in costume is a particular gem of a sequence). Maguire brings a real sense of wonder and joy to his scenes as Peter discovers and explores his new abilities.

"Spider-Man" is very much this character's origin story. In a symbolic sense, this is a coming-of-age story about the passage from boyhood to young manhood; it is about forming bonds of love and friendship, about relating to one's family, and about developing a personal core of ethics and values. Thus, the story is not just a thrilling popcorn flick, but is resonant on other levels. "Spider-Man" is one summer blockbuster that both satisfies and leaves you hungry for a sequel.

Summary: ...And so I saw it a second time!
Review: I first saw Spider-man on it's opening weekend and liked it so much, that last week I caught it for a second time. I also noticed a lot of things in the movie that I hadn't noticed. First, there's a very small part with Stan Lee, Spider-man's creator, in it. Also, since Sam Raimi directed this movie, and we all know and love him for the Evil Dead trilogy, Bruce Campbell, star of that trilogy, has a cameo as the announcer during the wrestling match, and you know anything with Bruce Campbell's name on it is quality. Even though I had seen this movie about a week earlier, I still enjoyed it as much as the first time. I don't know what it is about this movie, but it's just so cool and entertaining. There's definetly more of a human-factor in it than there was in the 90's cartoon, which I had watched a few times (and not enjoyed) in my younger years. Again, I think everyone should check out this movie. It has something for everyone. Oh by the way, just a note to the parents complaining about the "graphic violence" in this movie, I must remind you, this movie is rated PG-13, which means it is not intended for anyone under 13 to see. So don't bring your 6 year old kid and expect him to have a great time.

Summary: cool if not tottally corny
Review: i saw this yesterday and have to say its not any like i expected. the effects are obviously crouching tiger hidden dragons leftovers. the romance was interesting. the acting other than wilem dafoe was excellent. the plot was good. overall this is quite good but nothing for little ones. 10 and up please. because it is quite scary at points.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Excessive Graphic Violence
Review: I went with my 4 year old grandson to see this movie. I realized it had a PG-13 rating but that isn't unusual in the more popular movies and he had seen movies rated at this level before. This movie was so havily marketed to young children, I thought it would be ok. I wish there had been a stronger warning as to the graphic violence at the end of the movie. It was hard to enjoy because my grandson was so upset. Television movies have a rating sytem that specifies the reason for the rating, perhaps it would be appropriate for movies to do the same.

Summary: Spider Sensational
Review: A day after this movie was released I was in line to buy a ticket. I am usually not fond of superhero movies or comic books but this movie made me think twice about that opinion. What a great movie! The plot, even halfway through the movie, as still twisting and winding its way to a great ending climax while still supplying me with the required action that I need to keep me at the edge of my seat. The acting was also not just tolerable but pretty professional. So overall I recommend this movie to anybody who wants to see an instant classic!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Instant Classic
Review: This film is definately a winner. Avoiding campiness and all the flaws that made earlier comic-book to film adaptations fail, 2002's "Spiderman" has the right formula, mixing the correct ingredients of a love story, heroic action, and fantasy, and finally shows a realistic and human Spiderman. Bravo and two-thumbs up to all the actors involved for portraying comic-book characters so humanly.
