Summary: Made in the U.S. (Originated in France)
Review: This movie( albeit the re-make of the French original) has "100% Made in the U.S." stamped all over it. From the semi-rock, semi-orchestrated soundtrack to the high-tech glitz of the underground compound and special effects, it all says one thing ;GOD BLESS AMERICA ! La Femme Nikita did have a very European flavor to it due to the location, language, and actors, director. Point of No Return is not a bad remake and it is not an excellent re-make; It is simply a GOOD re-make. Remember folks that this is a make believe Hollywood movie (originated in Europe). Does this make Point of No Return any less entertaining or imaginative ? Of course not ! If you want the more dark and sinister low tech version with a non-pompous music score and low-key serious dramatic acting, then La Femme Nikita is it ! If you want the high-tech Hollywood polished version with a brighter atmospheric mood , then Point of No Return will not fail you ! There are a few touches in Point Of No Return that maybe Nikita could have had and vice versa ( Example; The scene where Fonda is smart enough to remove her high heels before she runs to assassinate the VIP- Although Parillaud keeping hers on was a sexy touch !)I have not been at all disappointed with either version. If anything, it's nice to compare and contrast with each other. However, you still have to keep a couple of things in mind : The American version clearly was directed with the American audience in mind. The French version is European directed. Anyone who can acknowledge this and yet "see" past this will enjoy both films for what they are as sheer entertainment !

Summary: great
Review: those of you who think you know what you are talking about, better think again. The idea of Hollywood is to take you away, this movie did that. The story line was just as good as any other one! if the critics can come up with a better storyline, then do so. Put your money where your mouth is !

Summary: And if it ain't broke...
Review: What on earth posessed the director of this film to make it? With the exception of a few 'twists', this is a shot for shot rip off of Nikita, which is about a million times better in just about every way. I found myself literally closing my eyes in parts cos I just couldn't bear to see these actors make fools aout of themselves. If Luc Besson was dead, he'd surely be rolling in his grave. And LB, however much they paid you: it weren't worth it.

And whose idea was it to have a nerdy harvey Kietel playing Victor the cleaner? Trying to capture the wooden efficiency of his vastly superior predecessor, jean Reno, kietel fails miserably & just ends up looking wooden. This was just a joke.

If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. I suggest you watch Nikita, & stay well way from this shocker. Cringeworthy stuff.

Summary: GUILTY PLEASURE
Review: Yes, La Femme Nikita is the real classic. But after repeated viewings on cable, this movie sneaks up on you. For all of its commercial hype and fake glamour, there are guilty pleasures throughout, not the least of which is the emotional core of the relationship between Bridget Fonda and Gabriel Byrne. Dermot Mulroney is also winning in his underwritten role. The wild premise survives the remake, because it is just so compelling and dramatic, and Anne Bancroft steals every scene she appears in. Give it a try, on its own terms.

Summary: I never did mind about the little things...
Review: Yup, the French version was darker and less Hollywood, but it also happened to be in French and subtitles are beyond annoying.
As an action hero Bridget Fonda can tote a gun with the best of them and brings actual emotion to her performance, something that can rarely be said for her male counterparts. Take it for what it is, big fun action adventure thriller.
Excellent soundtrack as well!
