Summary: Graphic & gory, but nothing I haven't seen before.
Review: 'Platoon' for the Social Security set. The plot is entirely dirivitive. The action scenes seem real, but way, way over the top, especially the first shots on Omaha beach. This has been filmed a hundred times before, but with alot more feeling and sublety than Speilberg seems to be capable of. As General Sherman said, "War is hell" and so is watching this film.

Summary: Another gotta-have 5 star movie.
Review: This is a great movie. Definitely 5 stars. The DVD transfer is excellent. "The Thin Red Line" pales by comparison (I gave it 3 stars). I won't say anymore to spoil it -- this will be in the top 100 of this century.

Summary: I'm 65 and this was the best war movie I ever saw.
Review: DTS is the only way to see this DVD. I don't care if I lost some viewing. I was ready to jump over the couch when the bullets started flying over head. Broke out in tears at least 4 times during the DVD. You could have flipped the disc or used two discs to get every thing to us. Come on think a little bit. Thank you every one who helped make this film. June 5th 1944 was the day I had my tonsils taken out and I didn't undersatnd what the excitement was all about when I woke up. The DVD was better.

Summary: Problem with DTS version
Review: I have Panasonic A310 and I have problem playing the DTS version. The sound and video drops out and forget about chapter 12. The sound and video drops out the picture freezes. It has problems going through the menu also. Amazon was really good about getting me a replacement but the second one does the same thing. I have DTS of Apollo 13 which plays fine. I'm taking both disk and trying it at the local hifi shop to see if it's my player.

Summary: WHERE ARE THE BRITISH?SPIELBERG IGNORES US
Review: Excellent depiction of war. But where are all the other nationalities of soldiers?

Summary: simply the best dvd to date
Review: this transfer of the best war movie in awhile should make people realize the great potential of dvd in making the home like a theater as for the film every person in congress should be made to watch the first 30min of the film depicting the carnage that war is to matrial and humans and maybe they will think twice before sending our youth into another conflict

Summary: I can't watch chapter 12
Review: I really like the movie but I can't watch my DTS version of the movie. Chapter 12 video and sound breaks up and the picture freezes. I just received my second DTS DVD from Amazon and same thing happens. Has this happened to anybody?

Summary: THE BEST OF THE BEST
Review: THE BEST WAR FILM OF ALL TIME, THE DTS VERSION SOUNDS AND LOOKS BETTER AT HOME THAN IN THE THEATRE! IF YOU NEVER BUY ANOTHER DVD, MAKE SURE YOU OWN THIS ONE

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: EXCELLENT
Review: For others that didnt like the movie because they were German, well this isnt a German film. Its american! Its about how we got through the war, and is seen through our point of view. Anyone who can criticize a film about the war, such a sensitive subject, is wrong to do so. A masterpiece.

Summary: Caution DTS does not work on a Sony S500D player
Review: While this is a great movie the DTS version does not work for me with a S500D player and a Yamaha RXV-795 reciever. Save your money get the non-DTS version
