Summary: PRETENTIOUS, PATHETIC, UNDILUTED CRAP
Review: I shouldn't even be giving it one star. Don't get me wrong. Despite all the bad reviews, I thought WATERWORLD was still immensely enjoyable. But POSTMAN is so full of crap, you have to smell it to believe it. There is no salvation here for Kevin Costner here. It's hard to believe the same guy who made DANCES WITH WOLVES would sink so low.

Review: Hey, I've seen worse movies than the Postman...As many of the reviews rightly point out, this movie is quite long. Still it did hold my interest. Also, I found it better than Brin's novel. The chracters were ones I came to care about, and the movie is beautifully filmed. Costner is a fine director and I like to believe he has another Dances with Wolves in him, though this wasn't it. The movie does have a few fine moments, especially the climactic scene between Costner and Will Patton, as an evil general. It's worth a viewing.

Review: Big slap on the wrist for Costner. This is without doubt the worst movie I have ever seen. It doesn't even merit one star. It is clearly just an ego trip for Costner, and an expensive one too. How is it possible to explain this 3 hour joke to people as anything more than this bloke who is a postman and thus travels the country? It really is that exciting.......

Review: To all those people who gave this movie more than one star and said that it was a tale about hope:If you liked this movie THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO HOPE FOR YOU OR THE HUMAN RACE. THE FACT THAT THIS MOVIE ACTUALLY MADE MORE THAN TEN CENTS SHOWS THAT THERE IS NO HOPE FOR AMERICAN CULTURE.

Review: I have seen much worse fimes recently, like shakespeare in love, and that won so many oscars. The postman is a good, entertaining, albeit sometimes quite slow film. If you have three hours to spend, I would do it again.

Summary: A Great Patriotic Film
Review: Although I know I am in the monority, I still really loved this movie. If you are into the post-apocolyptic genre of books and movies, and are patriotic, then this is a must see! Some things that I would have liked to see added or changed though: 1) Adapt more of Brin's supercomputers into the plot 2) A better way of dealing with the gathering of troops (for the final conflict). That 'turbo charged' ski-lift thing was just to convinient. 3) The man at the end (who was the boy in the statue) should have ended up as the President or something (showing that the Postman brought hope back to a dying nation). All in all this movie is as good as 'Dances with Wolves' and stands head and shoulders above 'Waterworld' (although THAT wasn't too bad a movie either). Give it a try. You won't regret it.

Review: The Postman is an excellent film, promoting everything good and true in the world. Friendship, love, and hope. The scenery is vibrant and alive. The imagery is meaningful. The dialogue is engaging, though perhaps a bit contrived at times. The storyline shines. Those who have read David Brin's novel will find a significantly different Postman in Costner's adaptation. Costner's Postman holds more hope and love than Brin's version, perhaps because of the extent to which Costner has changed The Postman's surroundings and story. In Costner's version, there are no supercomputers to build, no superhumans to fight the fragmented groups of Holnists. Costner's "The Postman" is a great movie to watch at all times, but the movie speaks loudest to those who are in the same position as Costner's character. For those who feel fighting for what you believe or love isn't worth the potential price, think again. "The Postman" has what we all need more of: Hope.
