Summary: Without doubt, the greatest Batman movie of them all!
Review: The edited version of Return of the Joker had already proved to be one of the best Batman tales ever told in my opinion. When I heard about the uncut version, I decided to check it out see if it was any better. After watching the bloody and brutal uncut version, Return of the Joker had been made all the more entertaining. The Joker's earlier demise was a lot more fitting and appropriate in the uncut version, and the final battle between Bruce Wayne and the Joker was a million times more entertaining than the edited version. Simply put, this is Batman Beyond at its finest. The removal of the cuts make Return of the Joker ... a lot more enjoyable than before and all the more entertaining. This is by far the best incarnation of Batman Beyond and the most throroughly enjoyable movie to date. It greatly surpasses the live action films, the animated series and all the other animated films, INCLUDING the awesome Mask of the Phantasm! Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker is simply awesome. In my opinion it's the finest Batman story ever told. It will please any die-hard Batman fan. Anyone who doesn't like this doesn't deserve to worship the caped crusader! It's just simply fantastic. If you're going to buy this, it HAS to be the uncut version! There's no contest.

Summary: A great dark and grim Batman movie
Review: I'm a little late in watching this, but I just got this uncut PG-13 version over the weekend while Christmas shopping for my family (sorry, I just *couldn't* resist), and I'll give you some of my thoughts on it. The plot: The new Batman, Terry McGinnis, encounter a street gang called The Jokerz (influenced by the Clown Prince Of Crime himself) who are stealing high-tech satellite equipment. From there, we see that The Joker himself has returned, and is leading the gang. Mister J himself makes an appearance along with his gang at a party held in honor for Bruce Wayne's return to Head Of Wayne Enterprises (where the last piece of satellite equipment is located) and the former Batman is shocked to say the least. From there, it becomes a mystery for the new Batman to solve (how did Joker die in the first place, how did he return, what is he planning, and how does he know Bruce Wayne is Batman). The answers to some of these questions in this unedited DVD version will shock you. Originally, this was heavily edited due to WB corporate executives concern over the dark scenes and mature content, and was a pain ... for the producers of the movie (who also produced the Batman Beyond TV show) to edit. Long time fans of Bruce Timm's Batman Beyond series demanded the unedited version to be released and even signed an on-line petition. In April 2002, the unedited version was released on DVD. Seeing this on DVD is great. This movie looks great in wide-screen format (just gives the uncut version that professional touch), and sounds great too. I can hear the little sounds that a VHS recording couldn't pick up and it really just adds to the enjoyment of the movie (kind of like viewing it in a theater (or close to it anyway ;) ). The story comes off better in its original form (with the flashback still being the best part). The voice cast performances were awesome, with Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill peaking their long time roles of Batman and The Joker respectively. I know some fans were disappointed that Dana kind of disappeared from the story (as were the producers), but I am not, as the story was about Bruce, Terry, Tim, and The Joker anyway. The extras: The deleted storyboarded scene was nice, and kind of a shame that it didn't make the final cut. The commentary track was interesting and had great info (and Bruce Timm sounds like Wes Craven, which was weird) and shows the love that the creators and producers and writers have for these characters. The documentary was nicely done, and Kevin Conroy kinda talks like Al Gore in real life, which is also weird for me. Haven't watched the music video or trailers yet, but I'm probably not missing much. Oh, and Paul Dini (the guy who wrote the screenplay for the movie) is a wonderfully sneaky little devil for writing Harley Quinn (Joker's henchgirl) back in the way he did after he was forced to kill her off in the flashback scene. Congrats Paul, your check is in the mail. ;) Final thoughts: All and all, this was a great viewing experience. Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, & company should be handling the next live action Batman movie because they know these characters and how to bring them to life (forget Burton or Shumacher).

Review: Due to a couple of minor flaws, the film is probably ****1/2, while the DVD extras easily gain the 1/2* back. I can't go into detail about why this was so great without giving away a lot of the plot, but trust me: This is mindblowingly great. The alternate audio commentary makes for quite the interesting listen, as well. In other word, buy this NOW!

Summary: This movie is probably the best animated movie ever.
Review: This movie just plain out rocked the house. it should seriously receive an award of some sort. I watched only the uncut version but from what i hear, the edited version was trash. i suggest everyone watch the unedited version. However, it does get a bit violent and some parts will give you "knightmares", so warn your kids ahead of time. teens will love this movie, but kids might be terrified. the idea of having the infamous Joker (who is voiced by the ever so evil Mark Hamill) take on the new Batman Beyond was a very attractive and original idea. the story is quite dark, but it is very emotional and powerful. on top of that, you've got loads of action. and for you diehard original Batman fans, they've got 10 min and 45 sec of original batman scenes for u. also, for those of you who think that the Jokerz are really a joke, then come and enjoy as the Jokerz cower in fear from the real clown prince of crime! great movie, get it now.

Summary: One of the best movies around
Review: This is a great story -- compelling, engrosing, surprising. The flashback scenes can move you to tears, and the final battle will have you literally cheering. This is one I will watch repeatedly. The Batman Beyond series was interesting in itself because it sort of re-invented Batman and let us watch Terry's evolution from kid-in-a-suit to the new Batman. Return of the Joker shows us that Terry has truly become Batman.

Review: Batman series is not my favorite series and I have seen even less of the Batman beyond series. I was bored and couldnt find anything to rent at the video store and saw this. I said what the hell and rented it. I must say it was one of the best movies that I have seen in a LONG time. This really isnt a kid story. It is packed with action, violence and more violence. They did an excelent job of bringing back the Joker. The plot was very credible and complete. It was so good that I have decided to buy it. It will be the first animated movie that I have purchased. The person who rated this as a 1 obviously didnt watch it and doesnt know what he is talking about.

Summary: The Joker's Back!
Review: The title says it all! Batman's archrival The Joker has come back! This time, its set in the world of Batman Beyond, and the should-be-dead Joker is back, making an appearance at some party (I missed the first 10 minutes.) Joker is now terrorizing Gotham, and Terry wants t get to the bottom of it. Terry eventually finds out the truth, and let me tell you, it kinda freaked me out. I'm surprised WB didn't rate this tape higher. It involves Robin, and the 'son' of the Joker. I will say no more. Its a good ending, Terry and the Joker in an all-out battle, with Terry playing pscho-analyst with the Joker. Anyway, it's a good plot, action scenes were kinda short but cool. I give it 4 stars.

Summary: Best Animated Batman movie yet!
Review: I must say this is one of the best batman animated features I have seen. This ties up some of the loose ends between The New Batman Adventures and Batman Beyond. This is a well written film but I suggest any children wanting to see the uncut version to watch it with a parent. Some scenes in the film are rather disturbing with a flash back to The New Batman Adventures and how the last battle between The Joker and Batman ended. The animation and sound is brilliant. The music fits the film like a piece of art and the voice acting is tremendous. This uncut version surprised me for some rather scary scenes with the Joker and how he transformed Tim Drake, Robin. I recommend this to die hard fans and anime fans alike. It is a true master piece.

Review: it's pretty good. i'm a big fan of the show and the one that came before it. in this case, though, it doesn't even live up to a single episode in value, plot, characters, direction, and music. it also goes against the batman mythos in a couple of regards but to give details would be a spoiler. one of the main problems was the direction was somehow off. the action was directed/animated differently. it simply wasn't as exciting as usual. another problem: shirley walker, the brilliant composer who did most of the music for the first show and the theme for the second is missing. the replacement's music was a hollow and unsatisfying substitute. so, it's okay and if you're a fan you might rent it but i'm a big fan and i sort of wish i had never seen and i definitely wish i hadn't bought it. to top it all off, the DVD features are not so good either. what a shame.
