Review: I love this movie. I have it and watch it almost every chance I get. First of all, if you like dark movies, this is for you. Entire thing is at night with dark, realistic characters..(except for the coming back from dead thing). Brandon Lee is superb and his death and appsence from the sequel is probably what made it horrible. The soundtrack is one of the best and DVD does is justice. The story line is very compeling. Its a rare drama/emotional/action movies. If you can by only one movie while your here....make it this one. END

Summary: The Crow- A Comic Book Treasure Brought to Life
Review: The Crow is based on the dark comic series by James O'Barr. The film was directed by Alex Proyas who later made Dark City and the upcoming feature I, Robot, which is due out July 16, 2004. The Crow is a stunning film, its visuals are dazzling. This film of course is always remembered for the sad and unfortunate death of Brandon Lee, son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee. Brandon Lee had emerged and stunned us with this great performance and if he had lived he could have had a promising and grand career as an action star.
Brandon Lee plays Eric Draven, a rock musician who is brutally murdered along with his fiancee. A year later he comes back to life by the powers of a crow and the crow guides him as he seeks revenge for those who took away his life. The movie does turn simply into a revenge flick, but it is a quite stunning one. This film features some great action sequences and Lee as I stated earlier gives a great performance. The film was released in 1994 and spawned two sequels, neither were as good as the original, infact the third went straight to video. Due to Lee's unfortunate death, the filmmakers were able to finish the film using digital technology by what they had filmed of Lee's performance so the film could be released. Proyas released the film to honor and in tribute of his death, some where upset by this but others think it was good of him. This is a great film and I'm pleased to say it is a part of my DVD collection.
The Crow is rated R for A Great Amount of Strong Violence, Language, Drug Use and Some Sexuality. The violence is pretty intense and some might be offended or upset by it, after it one can expect that considering this is a dark and gritty film. The violence includes the use of guns, knives, swords as well as fisticuffs. There's also use of profanity, most of which is strong, and some drug use. Overall a great movie and one which should be seen.

Review: The story of The Crow begins when a rock'n'roll guitarist named Eric Draven along with his fiancee,Shelly Webster were brutally murdered by T-bird's gang.
However,one year after their death,Eric returns from the dead and tries to find out about the murder of himself and the love of his life.The Crow is a very romantic,action,battle story fill with a great historical event that Eric,the undead hero must solve with a police officer and a young kid from the streets.This is for Dar and Tao from Sarah:Dar and Tao.Together forever.

Summary: Fantastic atmosphere and visuals, sub-par plot and acting
Review: The Crow was certainly a landmark film of Burtonesque ambience, and has understandably become a cult classic since its release. However, despite the emotions the film inspires through its visuals, I fail to see what all the commotion is about. To say that that the acting is sub-par, particularly on the part of Brandon Lee, is being gentle. Lee's performance in particular is strikingly unconvincing, seeming overly contrived and forced, not to mention downright cheesy in places (I'm sure you all remember the hysterical scene of Eric playing a guitar on a rooftop in the middle of the night in all its histrionic glory). Furthermore, the plot itself is trite and overdone, and to tell the truth, not particularly absorbing. The "revenge from the beyond the grave" concept has been employed time and time again, not only in cinema, but in litterature as well. The characters, while decently developed, are not believable. Eric is simply too powerful, so much so that I found myself simply unable to willingly suspend my disbelief. Overall, The Crow is a directionless movie, and hardly worthy of all its hype.

Summary: Great movie
Review: When this movie came out about the only comic book movies being made were the Batman movies (and by this time the quality of those movies was on a serious decline thanks to director Joel Shumacher), so releasing a movie on a comic book was fairly risky. Needless to say, any worries comic book fans had that this one wouldn't work, were quickly dismissed as they sat back and enjoyed a new legend unfold before their eyes.

The Crow is based on a comic book by J. O'Barr, when the movie was released the comic wasn't known so much by the mainstream like Superman, Batman, or Spiderman, but it did command quite a cult following. The movie holds true to the basic premise of the book, basically a man and a woman are killed in cold blood and the man returns to exact vengeance on the killers. In the comic Eric and Shelley were not killed over an eviction notice as was the case in the movie, instead they were just an unlucky couple whose car broke down on the side of the road and a group of drunk and drugged criminals happened to be driving by and took action against them.

In the movie Eric(played to perfection by Brandon Lee) was just as lethal and angry, yet broken inside as he was in the comic book; however in the comic book he was also slightly deranged which thankfully they left out of the movie because it would have been harder for most audiences to identify with a hero who causes self mutiliation.

The acting and storytelling were equally well done, the drama of the movie didn't slow anything down or feel rushed in order to get to the next action scene as many action movies go. Though, there are several differences between the comic book and the movie, the overall tone and characters are fairly close, as is the basic plot. This movie provided a great stepping stone for what could have been an interesting and engaging franchise however too many fans have had trouble getting past Brandon Lee as the Crow and can't see any other actor take over the lead role even though it's not the same character.

Rated R for violence, language, and a rape scene.

Summary: Kill the crow and destroy the man.
Review: This is a Halloween story. It was just a year ago on all hollows eve that an unscrupulous group of routies did untold things to a nice coupe, resulting in the couple's death. Well the young man Eric (Brandon Lee) is back and invincible. It is time to give the routies the death wish treatment. One by one they get uniquely dispatched and in the process a mother and daughter are re-united. The local policeman (Ernie Hudson) sees dead people.

Will Eric balance the books or does he find out that you can't when all the time?

Review: This is my favorite movie of all time. kill bill is a complete copy off of it in a way in this he dies n comes back n kills every1 in that she is in accoma for 4 years or sumtn then comes back n kills every1. i love this movie more then anything in teh world its dark its got killing drugs, alocohol, awesome soundtrack and everything.!!!

Review: Something happened in Eric's apartment on October 30. Here it is known as Devil's night. Ernie Hudson plays the cop in charge of the scene of the crime. Shelly Webster has been hurt badly and Eric Draven is dead outside on the sidewalk. It appears he has crashed through the window above. Sarah is a girl that Shelly took care of.
One year later, Sarah visits the graves of Shelly and Eric. She puts a bunch of flowers on Shelly's and a white rose on Eric's. There is a crow sitting on Eric Draven's tombstone. (Notice Draven has "raven" in it). Sarah asks the crow, "What are you the night watchman?". Indeed he is. Later the ground is lifting above Eric's grave. It is Eric (Brandon Lee), who looks normal, trying to get out of the ground from his coffin. he lets out a primal scream. It is raining hard. He goes back to his apartment. Everything was left as it was a year ago. it is filthy. Window was never boarded. His crow flies with him everywhere he walks. Eric's white cat, gabriel, is still there who recognizes him. Eric begins to have total recall of what happened to him and his fiancee in the apartment. When Eric touches the broken window, both of his hands are cut with blood coming out. But they heal before his eyes. Eric has manifested. he decides he must get revenge. he puts on white clown make-up with black on his lips. He will now hunt down those thugs with his guide The Crow.
This film is gritty, rainy and dark. It sets the mood real well. Gothic!
Numerous gritty, rock n' roll films have been made, but The Crow (1994) was the first of its kind.
I do not like the drug use and foolish sex in this film. But I do enjoy the long, continuous scenes as you fly like The Crow.
Sadly, Brandon Lee was doing a scene (March 30, 1992) where he was continuously being shot at. A faulty prop gun had shot him in the abdomen. The cap of a black had lodged into his spine after entering his abdomen. He died the next day. Brandon Lee's father was Bruce Lee. An infamous actor who had been in "The Green Hornet" tv series and made martial arts films as well. His father had died in 1973 from a brain edema and marihuana was found in his stomach.
Since Brandon lee died, they used a stand-in and spent over $3000,000 to computerize Brandon's face on the stand-in to make new scenes to finish the film. This technique was later perfected and became known as CGI effects in the film, TWISTER (1996).

Crow--Stairway to Heaven (1998) tv series.
The Crow: Salvation (2000) with Eric Mabius.

On this VHS, "The Making of The Crow" is followed after the movie. It is "The Exclusive Final Interview with Brandon Lee" It is only seven minutes long.

Summary: Quote the Raven, Never More
Review: First, this movie may be the epitomy of good versus evil. The fact that Edgar Allen Poe's legendary morbid "The Raven" is referrenced in the script, and the overall mood,only makes this movie more a dark classic. It also successfuly removes the ability one may have to carelessly peg the hero simply a vigilante. As Brandon Lee's final movie, you can truly see his conditioning as an established, seasoned actor and his heart and soul poured into a role that is emotionally charged in itself. His death is a tragedy that we will be reminded of every time we see this movie more than any other he has made. The script is truly great at times (mediocore at others, and the ridiculous amount of bullets he has in one clip is absolutely absurd only overshadowed by the revolver with nearly 12 rounds...) The performances of the entire cast is superb. I never even knew about the comic book, but this movie is inspiring to do research. (I do hope that Top Dollars sister is not a regular because that would be a shame... she was about as entertaining as a hot brick) You can truly feel the love that Eric Draven and Shelly felt for each other. And you ultimately feel the riveting pain of their demise. You feel a shiver for each one of T Birds gang that "gets whats coming to them" at the hands of Eric. You almost shed a tear in that cemetery when he lays against Shellys tombstone and says he's coming home. Every time I am outside and see a crow, I will always remember the movie and the words spoken in the intro. Surprisingly, the crow has always been linked to the dead and their path of ascending. This is a great great movie that you need in your collection alongside the first two Batman movies, and The Goodfellas, and the other classics of our time. Make it happen...
