Summary: A MISUNDERSTOOD CLASSIC!
Review: I find that most critics and detractors of this film miss the point entirely. They are letting their tender sensibilities and pretentious nature blind them to the redeeming qualities of this film.

Brian De Palma's remake of "Scarface" plays on the same level as a Spaghetti Western, and it should be viewed as such. It is over-the-top, exagerrated, and excessive. It's a larger than life portrayal of the rise and fall of a crime lord. It's the kind of movie that works in spite of itself.

So to all those who hate This movie, I have one final thought to leave you with. If this film is such an abomination, why has it surpassed the Howard Hawk's original in terms of popularity and influence?

I welcome anyone who disagrees to E-mail a reply.

Summary: A Masterpiece
Review: This is one of the greatest achievements in film. Pacino *is* Tony Montana. He gives the performance of his life.

Summary: Pacino, De Palma provide fireworks
Review: It is quite obvious to the average viewer that Brian DePalma's update of the 1932 classic wallows in excess in everything from acting to length. But did DePalma intend for the film to be a straight-laced action-drama, or a brutal metaphor for the evil of greed? Most likely, no. There is a campy feel to the whole production, and the actors consequently provide over-the-top performances. DePalma's direction is masterful, as always. His visual wizardry keeps the film moving at breakneck speed, even at 170m. Pacino has never been so loose, and has never had this much fun. His portrayal of Tony Montana is vile and disgusting, yet strangely pleasing and a riot to watch. The film spares nothing in its scathing dialogue, ripe with countless oscenities, and the violence is very graphic and at times disturbing. But the film never ceases to entertain. It's a long ride, but one you will enjoy and savor.

Summary: Amazing
Review: This movie is great. Al Pacino is great. Anyone who would bash this film because of the violence (see review below) needs to look at reality. Life is violent. This movie is somewhat violent. There are definately more violent movies out there. Would this bashing of violence also apply to such amazing films as Saving Private Ryan?? At any rate, see this movie ASAP. It will linger in your mind days after its conclusion....which is one of the most intense endings in movie history.

Summary: THE WORLS IS YOURS...
Review: Al Pacino does it again, so many people who have never seen Scarface have a hard time recognizing that Tony Montana is portrayed by Pacino; that's how much of incredible actor he is; completely transformed and talking Cuban.

I strongly urge you to get the WideScreen format because the director Brian DaPalm has the habbit of using the full space of panavision in all his movies.

Amzing screenplay, powerfull chemistry between the characters, the story of the badguy's journey from the bottom of the ladder going straight to the top and finishing it off with an explosive climatic ending.

Summary: awesome performance
Review: Al Pacino is so awesome in this movie. The action is great and there are some really good lessons that you can learn from watching this movie.

Summary: Al Pacino's Finest Hour
Review: Arguably Pacino's single finest piece of acting ever. He does a stunning job of playing the quick-witted Cuban, TONY MONTANA, el hombre, including the Cuban accent. The movie is a character study, really, and at that it succeeds marvelously. The soundtrack is slow and sultry synthesizers sans drums, classic '83 stuff; the music adds much to the atmosphere. Five stars.

Summary: GRAPHIC VIOLENCE - WEAK PLOT
Review: I've heard Al Pacino say many times that he is most proud of his performance in this movie. While he's got the accent down, his performance is hampered by heavy-handed diection and too much gratuitous violence courtesy of Oliver Stone. The infamous chainsaw scene is disgusting and completely unnecessary. The movie goes downhill from there. The final scene is ridiculous.

Summary: OUTSTANDING MOVIE!
Review: THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE. NO DOUDT ABOUT IT. AL PACINO DOES AN AMAZING JOB IN THIS MOVIE. A MUST HAVE FOR ANY COLLECTION.

Summary: Brutal
Review: I didn't like this movie the first time I saw it, after a while though, I've grown to love it. Though the plot is kind of sketchy, there is enough action and violence to keep fans of gangster movies satisfied. I also loved Tony Montana's accent.
