Summary: ...Genius dialogue and acting
Review: I've seen this movie more times than I can remember. It's a rights-of-passage film that should be required viewing for all men between the ages 17 and 23. So many lessons learned about life. Loyalty, Greed, Envy...all sins and the consequences of such sins.

The dialogue -- the writers were pure genius. The acting -- When I hear the words Al Pachino all I think of is Tony Montanna. Pachino is so good that it's hard to believe Tony is a fictional character.

The restaurant scene where tony and his wife exchange harsh words and he gets out of his seat and address the other customers is among the finest scenes in the history of movies. That one minute display -- from one guy (drunk and staggering) to others, confessing his ability to be a bad guy and challenging others to examine the "bad guy" within. He delivers the classic line "...say good night to the bad guy" Tony exits that restaurant (stepping out of the camera frame) with one last warning (perhaps an ad lib)"...a bad guy is coming...better get out of his way". Classic. Perfect scene. It will stay with you forever as we all can't assess others without assessing ourselves.

Summary: Say 'Ello To my little Friend!!!!
Review: This IS the best movie ever. OK, so Maybe it's not that great, but it is still an amazing movie. I am not one to watch long movies, but this and the Godfather are exceptions. The movie starts out with a nice little intro, and from there on, it's a roller coaster ride through the world of drugs and mafias. The plot is outstanding, the chainsaw scene adds A LOT of realism, and the climax is the best of any movie ever. You'll really start to feel bad for Tony after he does some things i won't give away, You want to cry for him. Overall, Amazing Story, Amazing Cast, Wonderful acting; ...

Acting 5/5
Story 5/5
Cast 5/5
replay 10/5

Definitely a must buy, especially if you like Pacino(who is my favorite actor), or crime movies.

Tony Montana played beautifully by Al Pachino is a Cuban refugee sent to freedom town. He takes a job as a hired killer and moves his way up. He starts of working for Lopez but then breaks his connection with him and starts to work with Sosa, a drug overlord.

Summary: The Final Word
Review: Without a doubt the greatest Crime Drama ever made. As well as being the greatest Male Performance ever!!! Al Pacino is dead on. Many years ago, before this film came out, I met a real drug kingpin who's persona was identical to Tony Montana's. Needless to say a frightening and real experience. What a shock when I saw this film for the first time. Oliver Stone also moved in these deadly circles while researching this film. Probably for personal reasons too. "Don't get high on your own supply." (Wink) Al Pacino on Larry King Live stated that this was his favorite performance. For good reason. He also mentioned Oliver Stone's incredible script.

Without a doubt Brian De Palma's best film.

As a student of acting I probably study this film on an average of once a week.

FINAL WORD: AMAZING!!!!

Summary: One of the greatest gangster movies
Review: A great script written by a great writer, Oliver Stone (previous Academy Award winner for "Midnight Express" as a screenwriter), a great director, a great actor (surrounded with great supporting roles, Steven Bauer, Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert Loggia, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, and also F. Murray Abraham, who had to win the Oscar as Best Actor the following year for "Amadeus"), a great producer, a great composer (Giorgio Moroder, "Midnight Express", "Flashdance"...), and you can't have anything else but a great movie. The story and the dialog are superb, the action is perfectly choreographed.

There are very few elements taken from the original "Scarface" and this is good, it makes the story look entirely original, and it is. The character is not Tony Camonte but Tony Montana, he's not Italian but from Cuba and he doesn't act in Chicago but in Miami, under the tropics; he's not in alcohol but in cocaine. He reaches the American Dream but he does it after a mass killing; and (this is the most ironic thing) it's the only murder he refuses to commit that costs him his life.

The very violent ending reminded me about "The Wild Bunch" and its unceasing, incredible, mass shooting, very well filmed and edited. An excellent movie; no matter what the 80's ignorant critics said about it, always fond of clean and romance in movies. In "Scarface", there's no romance (Tony loves only his little sister, his "blood", but of course it's not romantic) and it's dirty and violent, but it's great, and the violence is beautiful... The very first modern gangster movie, and a fantastic one.

Summary: What if his boat capsized?
Review: Although it shares the same title with the 1932 gangster classic starring Paul Muni, this eighties version's plot is not at all similar. The film starts out as a moving fictitious tale of a Cuban refugee who raises himself from being a dishwasher in a restaurant to a very wealthy drug kingpin. Before Al Pacino's acting career is done, his role of Tony Montana in this picture will be one of the more memorable ones to his fans. Chock-full of violence, killing, and adult situations, this film is just a bit too long and fizzles out near the end when there is nothing but senseless, undirected killing all over the place. Fine supporting performances are rendered by Michelle Pfeiffer and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio.
